Hi All,

Thanks to everyone who posted their experience here before. They really helped me in understanding the process and the type of questions that one may be asked.

Coming to my experience., I had the biometrics scheduled at 8.30 on 5th Sept and the visa on at 11.00 on the same day.

I reached biometrics center at 8.15 and in there already couple of ppl standing in two different lines. One line for 8.30 appointment and one line for 9.00 appointment. I stood in 8.30 line. At around 8.30, we were sent in to the campus and they verified the appointment letter, DS-160 confirmation copy and passport. (no need to carry any petition documents for the biometrics). There after, the biometrics and photo are taken. The entire process took hardly 10 mins. By 8.45 am, am out of the campus.

In the similar way, I reached consulate at 10.45 AM for my 11 AM interview. But to my surprise, the line at 11.00 AM itself is so huge (nearly half km). Stood in the line and by the time, I entered the consulate its almost 11.20 AM. After security check is performed, we were asked to stand in line based on the type of visa. L token applicants, please be prepared to wait for long, as I have seen that B applicants, E applicants who came after us, moving ahead of us. I did question the volunteers regarding this, but they just informed that L1 applications take time.

Anyways, there is check to keep the documents in order and then all L1 applicants shall go to counter, where they will be issued the receipt for the DD. After this, the time for the main interview.

In my case, there is only one question asked.

What's your specialization ?
I explained in one sentence.

He started stamping the documents and informed me that the visa got approved.
By the time, I came out of the consulate its 12.30.

All the best for you all.

Regards,
Krishna

L1A Exp at Chennai - 5th Sept 2014
Hi Guys,
Need your comments badly. I have my L1A interview today morning. The interview went well and the VO stamped 'approved' with 3 yr duration on the 3 petition copies. Kept one with him, returned rest to me. Kept the passport and wished me best of luck for US stay.

But till now my status is being shown as 'Administrative Processing' and passport status is 'Still with US consulate'.

My passport collection option is given as Pick-up from Bangalore OFC.

L1B Blanket visa experience
Reading through the experience on this site and noting down the questions and practicing them is the ideal prepartion for L1B visa interview . My interview was scheduled at 10 am and i reached the location at 9.15.

After an hour of waiting, finally went inside and waited for my turn.

I was hearing from the other side another L1 interviewer who was asking a lot of questions but luckily i got another interview who just asked me one question : Who is your client? and thats it. VISA Approved. Was happy to bits.

I think the application will be reviewed even before the interview and if the job description matches the specialized knowledge requirement then i think it will be pre-approved. Hence make sure the job description document consists of specialized knowledge of your company specific tool or framework.

L1B Query
Hi,

My company has applied for my L1B and will be attending interview in next 2-3 weeks.

In past i have applied for H1B in 2008 through a consultant in hyderabad, attended interview in september 2010 and got 221g yellow form saying pending documents from petitioner.

Later in 2010 october, i have travelled to another country and returned last year.

Now my query is will there be any impact on my L1B because of this. And also how do i mention this during my interview.

Thanks
Ram

L1 B and L2 approved on 26th Aug 2014- Chennai
First of all Thanks to everyone for their valuable experiences shared on this forum, it really helped us a lot for the Visa interview preparation and to get our doubts cleared.

My husband and I attended L1B and L2 visa interview together at Chennai Consulate, we had our bio-metric scheduled on 25th and the very next day we had visa interview. Bio-Metric took hardly 5-10 minutes for both of us, so it is not suggestible to reach the venue very early, I think 30 mins before your scheduled time slot is more than enough.

We had the visa interview on 26th at 11:00 AM, we reached the venue around 9:30 AM (as suggested by many of the forum members to reach the venue 1.5 hrs prior) and joined the long queue, it took almost 1.5 hrs to reach the Interview counter. As per my opinion time slot does not really matter so its good to reach little early so that you can reach the Interview counter on your scheduled time.
VC was very polite and questions asked to my husband were real straight forward and VC did not even asked a single question to me for L2, right from the first question he started stamping our documents :-)

Below are the questions which were asked.
1.)Which company do you work for?
2.)What does your company do?
3.)What is you specialization?

Than he asked us to collect our passports later and wished us a pleasant travel to the US.

Although luck plays a major part and approval/rejection of your visa completely depends on VC's state of mind, still I would like to share few tips from my side,
1.) Be presentable, and keep your communication clear.
2.) Make the eye-contact with VC and be confident.
3.) Be very specific and clear about your specialized skill and try to emphasize on what makes you unique but at the same time be crisp and give your best shot.
4.) Ask your family/friends to help you by conducting few rounds of mock interview and make sure you have heard all the questions at least once and prepare there answers well, although do not mug them up :-), so that you do not go short of words and don't fumble when you face the real interview.

Best of luck to everyone going to face the interview.

L1B approved 26th Aug - Chennai.
Hi All,

Thanks to all who shared their experiences here.
My Biometric was done on 25th Aug 2:30pm. It took barely 5 mins for DS-160, Schedule letter, Passport check, finger print scan.

Interview:
1. Are you from XYZ company?
2. How long would you be staying in the US?
3. What is your overall experience?
4. What are your special skills?
5. Whats your Indian salary?

Then came the words that I was dreaming for :). My visa was approved and he wished me a good stay in the US.

I would like to mention few things:
1. Please don't go way earlier than your scheduled time. I think if you are present 30 mins or less before your schedule, its more than sufficient. Going early unnecessarily creates congestion and it could get difficult for everyone i.e. from the folks trying to keep things in order to ppl like us.
2. Please do not carry mobile phones. Figure out a way to offload before coming.
3. Keep the documents in order.
4. Dont panic or worry or get distracted by looking at others. I think it is important that one feels confident about ones skills. Keep calm and respond with short and precise answers. Many ppl open up as though it is a job interview!. This shouldn't be the case.
5. If the information in your DS-160, visa petition are genuine, then I don't think you need to worry at all. If the information furnished is true, then naturally we would be calm and confident to answer anything.

All the very best to ppl who have their interview scheduled.

Best Regards,
Ashok.

L1A Blanket Approved - Chennai 18/Aug/2014
First of all sincere thanks to the forum for sharing the visa experiences. It provided me the confidence and helped me to prepare for the visa interview and eventually get it approved. Its my turn to share my experience and hopefully visa aspirants can benefit from my post.

I had Biometrics at OFC and my visa interview appointment on the same day on 18 Aug 2014 in Chennai. Biometrics was at 8:00 am and visa appointment was at 10:30 am. I was little sceptical initially whether I can make to the visa interview on time, given the OFC is at Cenatoph road and Consulate is near Gemini Flyover (about 5 kms and should take max 30 mins in traffic).

I had booked a cab, so that I can travel comfortably and need not worry about vehicle parking issues.

Reached OFC at 7:45 am and was let in at 8:10 am. Completed the biometrics, (verification of passport, DS160 and appointment letter, finger print scanning and photograph) at 8:25 am. But I had enough time to make it and reached the consulate by 9:00 am. I did not to go and wait in the queue that early for 10:30 am appointment, so was sitting in the cab itself until 9:45 and joined the queue. Unfortunately, even then it took a lot of time to get in and was allowed only at 11:45 am. Then the process was quite fast. I was asked to wait for my turn after initial document screening and visa processing fee payments were completed.

My turn came for the visa interview...I was little tensed though I was very confident that I will definitely get my visa approved.

My VO was a gentleman and he greeted me Good Afternoon. I wished him as well. Here are the questions:
1) Which company do you work for?
I said ZZZ
2) Which client will you work for?
I said YYY and gave a brief description about my client
3) What will be your role in US?
I described my role in US. Program Manager...managing portfolio of projects, budget approval etc. etc
At this point itself, I realised that VO had decided to approve my visa. He proceeded to type something in his system.
4) Who will be your manager?
5) Whom your manager will report to?
6) What will be approx salary in US?

Then he said the Golden words "Your visa is approved".

Few tips:
1) Do your own visa documentation. Right from your roles/Responsibilities letter, Resume or any other documentation. DO IT YOURSELF and DO NOT COPY from others. If you are passionate about getting your visa, then you need to do it. This will help you to carry confidence all the way till visa interview.
2) Be honest, Always believe that you are eligible and WILL get the visa approved.
3) Do your mock interview sessions and be prepared with possible questions.
4) VO has 5 minutes of time to determine and judge whether you belong to Executive cadre, so have your most significant and appealing points first. Show that you have required authority and decision making power in the interview.
5) Importantly, do not bother overhearing / listening to other visa interviews at consulate. Do not make last minute changes to the answer script that you had in mind.
6) Your body language and confidence are very very important. Don't get tensed, always believe you will get your visa through.

All the best!!!

DUI Dismissal - L1 A Inter company transfer Visa?
Hi,

I'm an Australian citizen and i am applying for L1A inter Company transfer Visa to work in Houston. I was arrested for a DUI in Houston a Year ago However I was never charged or convicted and has now been dismissed. When i entered the USA last time they ask me the question and I advised that the case had been dismissed and the Officer at POE said that is correct it is showing dismissed in there system. I have my interview at the Consulate coming up in the next 15 days. Will I be asked to conduct a medical Examination? If so how much will this delay my Visa? Can I get the Examination conducted by the certified doctor before my interview to save time? Is there anything you can assist me with to make the process easier?
