L1 B Visa Extension Processing time for Premium
Dear All,

Can you please help me with the Premium processing time for L1 B Visa extension.

Is it 15 calendar days or 15 business days?

Also i believe the clock for 15 days starts for RFE response as well if filled in Premium?

If it 15 calendar days and you have not received the reply in given time then USCIS converts the case to normal processing? What will be next steps.

All your help on my query will be highly appreciated!!

Thanks!!

L1-B individual - you make me scared
Dear all,

Thank you all for sharing your stories. I feel like they have really made me understand the process better and they have prepared me for the interview. That being said, reading your stories also make me scared.

I have started talks with my employer about being transferred from our EU headquarters (I'm an EU citizen) to the US. My company will be launching its flagship product in the US lately and the US office expanding so there definitely is a possibility here. At the same time, I have various weaknesses as an applicant.

First, I cannot boast a fancy title, long career, or a high salary. My bosses (two ladders up) and the US boss totally see the benefit of knowledge transfer for the company and they see that the experience I have would be useful to the US office. On the one hand, my experience is specialized for the US team but not in the EU and on the other hand, US colleagues aren't complete strangers to the product. The product is very proprietary in FinTech and as such there won't be anyone to hire off the street.

Second, my wife is a natural-born American citizen. While in some ways that might be a good thing I can undertand if it raises some flags at the USCIS. And for a reason - I wouldn't apply for this transfer if we didn't want to move to the US permanently. Nor would my company have thought of sending someone over if I hadn't suggested it myself. You might also ask, why not go for a CR Visa. We will start that as well - just as a precaution - but the process is much more expensive and it can take a lot longer. Plus with L1B I could seamlessly keep working for my company.

My question to you would be:
a) based on your own experience, what kind of title/salary are - in practice - required for passing an L1-B application?
b) how do you think my wife's nationality and our long term plans play into the equation and what can I do bring the fact up in a positive light and what shouldn't I do to ruin my chances?

Thank you for letting me get this off my chest and thank you in advance for all of your answers.

L1A Blanket Approved
I would like to thank all members who posted their experiences which helped me prepare for the interview.
Following are my observations and suggestions:

There is no single factor that alone determines your eligibility. I feel the following factors are the most important:

a) Organization reputation (has your organization abused the visa system in the past by trying to find loopholes and sending folks to the US who really didn’t deserve a L1A?). If yes, that reduces your chances since that is not being tolerated these days

b) Salary - definitely, higher the better.

All the questions that I was asked are already in the previous posts.

They do not ask trick questions. The interview is designed to understand if you “really” are a manager who is high up in the org structure with responsibilities such as hire/ fire, budgetary authority and most importantly are managing an essential function or department or business unit.
The above coupled with background from an employer with a good reputation of not abusing the system in the past will increase your chances.

I am not in consulting and not in IT.

Thanks once again to immihelp and it’s members.

L1A premium processing
L1A blanket got rejected recently.
Can one still avail of Premium Processing for L1A individual application with the recent Premium Processing being suspended (From what i read online, it is mostly for h1B)?

if applicant is on h4, can they apply for L1A and COS both simultaneously through premium processing?

L1A blanket approved
Hi,

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Keep sharing as it helps others.

I had my interview on 15th Nov for L1A blanket. I went with my wife and two kids (7 and 2). Its approved and received my passport on 19th Nov in Bangalore.

I paid the $500 fee through credit card (They take cash as well).

Questions from VO:

VO: Where do you work?
VO: What is the location?
VO: What's your salary?
VO: What's the title?
VO: Are you going to Client location? (to my answer he said - "these days everyone says it's a product company even though it's not". I just kept quite as it was a statement and not a question)

Questions to my Daughter:
VO: (Flashing her passport) - Who is this?
Are you sure its not your evil twin sister?
VO: (Flashing my passport) Who is it? Are you sure you didn't come with a stranger to Visa consulate (jovially)
VO: (Flashing my son's passport to him) Who is this?

He stamped the I-129's and returned it and said your visa is approved.

One important thing: Stick to what's mentioned in your I-129 form and nothing extra unless asked. For example, Salary or title..say the exact thing mentioned in the form...

All the best...

L1B Blanket at chennai - got 221g with not clearly approvable
Hi all, recently I had interview at Chennai on 16th November for L1B blanket, got 221g blue slip with not clearly approvable remark. I'm working with employer for 1 year 2 months & total experience is 7 years.

Need some advice, what could be the reasons & what are options available now?

This is how somewhat my interview went.

Me: Good morning ma'am
VO: Please pass your passport and documents
VO: you are applying for L1B?
Me: yes ma'am, L1B
VO: and you'll be going to New jersey, Iselin
Me: yes ma'am
VO: How long you have been working with the company?
Me: I have been working with YYYY for 1 year 2 months
VO: what are you gonna do at client site? Explain in simple terms.
Me: I have developed a tool YYYY tool for the asset management companies, and started explaining the tool & I was about to tell the duties.. (I thought I'll explain the tool first & then tell what Im gonna do at client site)
She cuts me short here and says
VO: but what are you gonna do?
Me: I'll be installing the YYYY tool in the clients software ecosystem
VO: is the tool specific to client
Me: No its a generic tool that i have developed for asset management companies.
VO: you designed this?
Me: Yes, ma'am
VO: Anything else you were working on or just this tool?
Me: i was working on this tool only, as i have been assigned to develop this proprietary tool
VO: who is the client?
Me: ABC XYZ company
VO: ABC X.. What?
Me: ABC XYZ
Spelled - X Y Z
VO: oh XYZ, ok
VO: how many clients did you install this tool for?
Me: this is the first client
VO: how much is your salary?
Me: my basic salary will be 54000 usd & incentives will.. She cuts me short
VO: sorry, how much?
Me: 54000 usd and incentives will be added to offer letter before travel & bonuses would be given based on performance.

...................................

After this I dont remember if there was one more question or not, then next she kept typing in her computer

VO: I need to check something, please wait some time.
She went in somewhere & came back after some time (4-5 long mins) & gave me blue colored 221g slip, said application doesn't satisfy clauses for L1B & the exact reason are in section that is marked on this slip, give this to your HR department.
Me: ok, thank you.

Could it be salary amount?
And now
Can I apply for B1?
Can I apply for L1B individual under premium processing?
Please advise.

Thanks

L1A Individual Processing time
What is the average processing time for regular L1A Individual Petition?

My company filed for L1A Individual under regular processing 2.5 months back. Havent got any response so far. I checked for the status in USCIS website, the status is same from day#1 - "Case Received".

I learnt from few websites that the processing time is 30-90 days. I found in the USCIS website that the processing time 4.5 months. Can anyone please share your experience in this regard?

Thanks.
