221g Blue Slip - Administrative processing, no docs asked, passport retained, Chennai 4th Sept 2018
Me and and my spouse had L1B extension interview on 04 Sept 2018 in Chennai and the VO handed me a 221g blue slip with administrative processing box checked on that. The VO kept all the documents including my and my spouse's passport.
Has anyone faced similar issue? Any idea how much time they take to decide on such cases?

Interview date: 27th Aug 2018.
Below were the Question asked by VO.

2.what is the role for you at US?

Appeared for L2, VO says Visa is approved, status on CEAC says "Administrative processing"
Hi All,
I appeared for L2 Visa interview.
Interview Date : 22-August-2018.
The VO asked a couple of questions and suggested that the Visa is "Approved". NO blue Neither pink slip was given to me.
VO said you will get the passport in 3 days.
However, Visa status on CEAC website changed to "Administrative processing"
Case Updated date : 23 August 2018.
Next, the Case updated date changed to 31-August-2018 however the status still says "Administrative processing"
I am not sure on what will happen next.
Anybody would like to share similar experiences?

L1B Approved in Chennai on 27th Aug 2018
My L1B visa got approved in Chennai on 27th Aug 2018 and visa status page shows it is still in administrative processing and last update date of case shows 27th Aug 2018 only.

L1B Approved | Chennai Consulate | 21-Aug-18
I would like to begin with a "Thank You" note to all the members who have been sharing their experiences on this forum as this is really very useful and gives a clear idea on the entire process as well as expected questions at the consulate.
My Biometric and interview for L1B was scheduled on 21st August 2018 at Chennai. I am sharing my experience as most of the posts are from folks with technical background. However, my work exp as well as education is non-technical (HR), hence, this may come useful to those with a similar background.
Feedback/ Experience:
- Time slot: Biometric @ 8:45am and Interview @ 11am.
- Biometric process took exactly 15 mins and I was out by 9am.
- At the Consulate for the VISA interview process:
o They will let the person in only 30 mins prior to the interview. Hence folks have to stand on the footpath outside the Consulate if they reach early.
o Inside the consulate, at the first post – the coordinator asks to arrange the documents in the sequence – I129S (8 pages), I797 (only first page), DS-160, Appointment confirmation letter.
o The DDs which need to be submitted, must have the name of the person along with the PP no. written on the hind side.
o The candidate is then routed to the payment counter. The person behind the counter will collect the DDs and issue you 2 copies of the receipt.
o Then the candidate will be directed to the biometric verification counter again.
o Post this the candidate needs to join the actual interview queue.
- Questions asked by the VO:
o Can I see your documents plz?
o How old are your kids?
o Which company are you working for?
o How long have you been working at ZZZ?
o Where are you going to go in the US?
o What are you going to do in the US?
o Which all are the locations YYYY is starting its offices?
o Is it a part of their global expansion?
o What is your highest level of qualification?
o For your onboarding, is there any process which is proprietary to ZZZ?
o What role do you play in onboarding?
o How much is your US salary?
o Does any of you hold an earlier US VISA? (asking me and my spouse)
o Are you planning to travel together?
Then he started typing something on this computer and stamped my documents. He returned 2 sets back to me stating your VISAS are approved and asked me to carry the documents along when I travel.
Hence, the over all experience was good. Some points to note:
Dos
- Dress Well
- Be confident
- Even if the counselor does not let you complete your answer, it is fine. Go on to the next question.
- Keep a smile.
- Understand the question well, think and answer.
Don’ts
- No point reaching the consulate too early, they do not let you in.
- Be in a hurry to answer

L1A - Administrative Processing status on CEAS (Passports retained)
My L1A Individual got approved yesterday at the Mumbai embassy. I have not received any slips. The VO mentioned "Your visa is approved" and he has kept my and my wife's passports.
Today the status on the CEAS is "Administrative Processing" along with the following note,
"Your visa case is currently undergoing necessary administrative processing. This processing can take several weeks. Please follow any instructions provided by the Consular Officer at the time of your interview. If further information is needed, you will be contacted. If your visa application is approved, it will be processed and mailed/available within two business days."
Any idea, what does this mean?

I just wanted to add my L1A Individual visa stamping experience here. It was on 8/24.
After a long wait in the queue, my turn had come to meet VO.
VO : Good Morning Sir,
Me : I greeted him the same.
VO : Asked for I-797 form
Me : Handed over to him.
VO : How long with the current employer ?
Me : Answered to his question.
VO: How many people are going to report to you ?
Me : Answered both number of Direct and indirect reportees
VO: Which location are you going ?
Me: Answered.
VO: What do you do over there?
Me: Mentioned about my role.
Some casual questions to my wife.
After that, he told that my visa approved.
It was quick discussion.
I just want to give suggestion to the people who are going for the stamping interview, just be
confident and don't be tensed...
