L1b experience
I had my L1b scheduled last week at Chennai consulate. Please keep in mind they only let you in 15 mins before your interview time. Once you get inside consulate, the entire process runs pretty smoothly. Here are the questions VO asked

1) Which company do you work for?
ans: YYYY (american multinational)

2) how long have you worked at YYYY ?
ans: 3 years 10 months

3) where would you be working in USA?
ans: YYYY , california?

4) Why xxxx, california?
ans: our R&D HQ is there

5) which project you are working on?
ans: only gave the name of the projects

6) Have you been to US before?
ans: yes

Then VO asked my spouse

7) when did you get married?
ans: she gave the answer

8) you have any kids?
ans: No

She smiled and said no rush.

By that time, she started stamping my I-129 petitions

9) whats you salary would be in US?
ans: 1xxxxx $

Then came the golden word "your visa is approved" and gave back 2 copies of I-129.

Just a piece of advice, don't try to eavesdrop on others' interviews. It never helps except making you more nervous. Always make eye contact and keep hand gestures to a minimum. Good luck!!!

L1A Expired. I-485 pending.
Hi Friends

I need some help real quick.

Here is my current immigration status -

1. Entered US on 10-Jun-2012 on L1B
2. Got L1A approved on 11-Feb-2015
3. Filed EB1C Green card (concurrent filing) Priority Date 30-May-2017
4. Got EAD and Advance Parole approved in July 2017.
5. Did not renew L1A visa and it expired on 10-Feb-2018
6. I-140 approved in June 2018
7. I-485 Pending and Interview scheduled August 28, 2018

Questions-

1. Can I file L1A extension now under premium processing?
2. Am I currently Out of Status?
3. What will happen if AOS is denied ? Wil I be under removal proceedings because my L1A was not renewed?
4. I am hearing that as of 5-July-2018 USCIS memorandum, any unlawful status person will be issued Notice to appear which means removal proceedings can start. Is this correct?
5. How much time do I get to wrap up if my AOS is denied?
6. I am also hearing that if any person under removal proceeding does not appear in immigration court, he will be barred from US for 10 years. Is this correct?

I’m very worried. Please help. I’m in US with my wife and 2 kids.

Thanks

L2 Visa Experience
Hello Everyone,

Would like to mention lots of thanks to this forum as it has helped me prepare myself for all possible questions.

I attended the interview yesterday at Hyderabad for L2. VO asked me the following questions..

When did you get married?
How old is your baby?
What is the name of the company that your husband works for?
When did he leave to U.S.?
Why didn't you leave then and why now?
What kind of work your husband does?

After few minutes, VO told "Visa Approved".
God's grace..Happy for it..

Though Visa approved, CEAC status shows administrative processing.. Hoping for a positive response:)

Thanks All..

L1A Blanket Refused with 221g Blue form
Hello Everyone,

This forum has been extremely helpful in getting myself prepared for my visa interview, so giving it back to the community and also hoping to get some pointers and insights on what I can expect over next few days.

Currently, dejected, demotivated and depressed and hoping to get some insights from the gurus here.

I attended an L1A Blanket visa interview at Chennai consulate on 16-Jul. The Interview slot was at 9 AM and i had my wife and kids with me so it was fast tracked and I was in front of the VO in about 20 mins from the time I was in queue. Here's how it went:

VO: Pls hand me the documents.
Me: Good morning. Here they are.
VO: You work for YYYY (one of the big five companies)?
Me: Yes.
VO: So you are applying for an L-1A visa?
Me: Yes.
VO: How long are you working for ZZZ?
Me: It has been 3.X years, I have a total experience of 16 years.
VO: What is your Salary?
Me: $1XX,ZZZ + bonus
VO: What is your designation?
Me: Senior Program Manager
VO: What is your role?
Me: Its a Senior Program Manager role, responsible for managing Product development, program and project management functions of the YYYY division of YYYY Product Group. My role requires me to work with GMs of Engineering, and Marketing groups of YYYY Product group to define product roadmaps and also to manage programs and projects for the YYYY team.
VO: Where will you be moving?
Me: ZZZ
VO: What is there at ZZZ?
ME: Company Headquarters
VO: How many direct reports will you have?
Me: I will not have any direct reports, but I will have a team working for me. I will have significant latitude over their day to day operations including prioritization, accept/ reject the deliverables.
VO: So you will not have direct reports?
Me: No, I will manage Product development, program and project management functions of the org and not engineering function.
VO: Let me check something.

At this point she went inside and came back after 2-3 mins.

VO: Can you explain your role once more?
Me: I said the same thing as above. Combined my responses which I provided above for role and direct reports question. Also added that I own accountability to ensure programs are executed on time and budget.
VO: Will you be accountable for all product development?
Me: Yes

VO then verified and checked at the passports of my wife and kids, but did not ask any questions.

VO: Your Visa is not clearly approvable. This is not a reflection on you, your work or the job you do, L1A blanket has a very narrow scope, pls give this blue form to your HR dept. and they will know what to do next.”

She wrote a case number on the blue form and checked the box which says “Your blanket L-1 application is not clearly approvable under section 8 CFR 214.2 ... or INA 101 ...” When I check online it shows my case to be in Administrative Processing.

Is there anyone out there whose visa got approved after this? I have read on several forums that if you are issued a 221g Form then there are high chances that your visa will be approved but you must wait till they complete their internal processing.

I checked with my immigration attorney, he strongly believes that the VO was wrong in rejecting as it was a strong functional manager case and they are rejecting blankets if you do not have direct reports. The immigration team are currently deciding whether they want to apply an L1A Individual or L1B Blanket.

Any pointers will help!

Required docs for l2 visa
Hi All,

I am to appear for my l2 visa interview in august first week along with my spouse (l1 applicant). My concern is: while filling up the DS160 form I mentioned that I am a working professional and upon checking the Docs to carry for interview its mentioned that I have to get a NOC from my employer, but the issue here is my employer is not willing to give one to me.
Will this non-availability of NOC in some way can be reason to rejection of our visa's or what should be my answer to the VO if they ask me about the NOC.

Please suggest

L1 A Renewal Approved on Jul/23/18 at Mexico City
Dear all

First of all thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences on this website.
My interview was done on Jul 23,2018 at Mexico City

The Visa officer probably made already his mind for giving me Visa, based on my DS-160 form. When he asked the first question, he already started putting cancellation stamp on the existing Visa and asked for the passport for New Visa.

Our Visa was issued and collected from Embassy on Jul 24th,2018.

VO asked the following questions. This was my L1A Visa renewal.

1. What is the name of your company?
2. What is your designation?

As I am working in Jewelry channel, so he asked to my wife that you should be wearing lot of Gold, as your spouse is working in Jewelry company.

Thanks
Manoj
