L1B Individual with RFE approval followed by L1B Blanket Denial
This site has provided great support, both informative and mental, during my long l1b visa journey. Now it is time to give back by sharing my experience here. This is my timeline:
2018 Jan: I got a job offer from my company's US affiliate
2018 Feb: Interview at US Consulate under L1b Blanket category, and I was denied the visa with "Not Clearly Approvable". The visa officer advised me to go for another category, which is L1b Individual visa.
2018 Feb: L1b Individual petition was filed under premium processing
2018 Mar: I was told RFE was received in connection with my petition
2018 Apr: RFE response was filed, and was received after one day
2018 Apr: In around 15 days, Petition Approval email was received

Now I am waiting for the original approval document to be sent over so that I can schedule another appointment at the US Consulate. Please wish me good luck for the interview. Thanks for the site and all the best to your visa application.

L1 Blanket got approved
This site has helped me tremendously to prepare myself for visa interview.
On 19th April 2018: I had my biometrics
required docs:
1. DS-160
2. Appointment confirmation
3. passport
It will take max 3-4 mins for biometric

20th April 2018 Visa Interview:
note: Dont carry mobile phones, watch, wallet with you.
Required docs:
1. DS-160
2. Appointment confirmation
3. Demand draft(Fraud fees)
4. I-129S 3 sets of first 8 pages
5. I797 3 sets of first page
6. passport

There was long queue but pretty organized.
When my number came, I have been asked to go to counter no XX

VO: Good Morning sir, Can I have your passport and document please?
Me: Good Morning sir, Yes sure!

VO: How long you have been working with current company?
Me: XX years XX months sir

VO: What will be your salary in USA?
Me: XX $ per annum

(He was continuously typing and looking at I-129S which I have given him)
VO: What is your job title?
Me: replied

VO: What is your general work?
Me: replied

after 30 secs approx, he said, Your visa is approved sir, Have a safe flight

Key points which I think one should look out
1. Fill up your information for DS-160 and other forms correctly.(Very Important)
2. Always smile while replying back to VO
3. Be confident.
4. You should know which visa you have applied for and who all can apply and what is the purpose of that VISA(Dont say something (work related )which doesn't get applicable to the visa you have applied for( as It might be applicable to some other type of VISA) )

L1B - Administrative Processing - 19/04/2018
Hi,

Someone got their Visa approved on 19/04. As I didn't see anyone getting approved. Everybody was handed over the blue slip.

My VO told me everything is OK with your Information, but it just needs some administrative processing. You will get it approved in a week or so.

Anyone on the same boat.

L1B Blanket Approved
Hi,

Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences in this portal. It helped with my interview preparation.
I will share my experience and hope it helps someone.

I applied for L1-B (Blanket petition) visa and my wife applied for L2 and we went to interview together.

Day 1 (Finger print):
Went 15 minutes earlier. The process was organized and was over in 15 minutes.

Documents required:
1. Appointment details
2. DS-160 confirmation page
3. Original passports

Day 2 (Interview):
Don't go too early.
Don't stand in the big queue. Its useless. They just let you in based on 15 minutes prior to your appointment and you can directly walk when they call people on that appointment time.

Documents Required( In order):
1. 3 Copies of I129S (8 Pages)
2. 3 Copies of I797 (1st page alone)
3. DD for fraud prevention fee (or) Credit card.
4. Passports
5. DS-160 Confirmation - Used in Day 1

As soon as you enter the consulate, you will have a person helping you in ordering the documents for L and H visas.
On the next counter, you will pay visa fee and they will check a finger print in the next and then i stood in queue for the interview and these were the questions asked.

ME : Hi Good Morning
VO : Good Morning. Please pass on your documents and passport

ME: Sure.
VO : So you work for xxxx?
ME : Yes

VO : Whats your designation?
ME : YYYY .

VO : How long are you working with xxxx?
ME : Almost X Years.

VO : Whats your salary in the US?
ME : YYYY XX ( Higher salary)

VO : Whats your responsibilities ?
ME : I am part of YYYY Business unit in YYYY company. And my team manages YYYY 's proprietary tools called ZZZ. We perform YYYY duties

VO : Why do you want to go to the US?
ME : Told in 2 lines

She asked my wife the following question:

Whats your highest qualification.

Actually my answer to "Why do you want to go to the US?" was in a way it way she cant say No.

Then she immediately started stamping on 3 copies of I129S and took one copy of it.
Handed over 2 copies to me and said the Golden words "Your Visa is Approved".

Waiting for my passport to be ready for pickup :)

L1B Blanket Approved - April18
It is time to give back to this forum. L1 B Blanket Approved for myself and dependents.

Points that shall definitely help.

1. Reach US consulate just 15min in advance.
2. If you are planning to apply for dependents as well then go together your chances of visa getting approved shall definitely be higher than going individually.
3. Answer to the point and do not tell stories. I say so because I started my response to specialization skillset by providing some background but VO stopped me and said big "NO NO NO..JUST mention specialization". And then I did same.
4. Four questions that decide your visa approval - Your exp, India role & responsibilities, US role and responsibilities and Specialization skills.

Overall I think if your case is genuine and if your company has not misused these visas then it is hard for VO to reject visa.

Happy to help incase you need guidance. Post on this forum.

L1 B Visa on 12th Apr
Hi All,

First let me thanks to all who have shared their experience, it was really a great help. All the questions asked in the same line only.

I went to OFC center at 7:30 AM as my appointment was at 8:00 AM. There were nice arrangements and within 15 mins all formalities done. They will see your passport, DS 160 and Appointment confirmation. Keep handy with you (all). Only issue was the speaker quality in OFC center as it was hard to understand.

Then i went to consulate as my appointment was at 11:00 AM. I went inside and they told to make 3 sets of DS160, VISA Fee, 129s (all 8 pages), I797 (first page only) alongwith appointment confirmation.

at first counter, they taken the Draft and given the the slip. Then they verified my fingerprints and after that i went in the que.

They told me to go to counter 24, (around 10 counters for interview). There were already i=one interview was going on and my son directly went to counter so i told to come back and VO smiled and said give me a moment.

Some argument of that person happened with VO and VO rejected his visa. Then my turn came and i smiled, remember confidence is the key there.

I greeted him and said good morning.

VO smiled and said good morning,

VO: please give me all three passport and your documents.

I have handed over to him.

VO: So you applying for which Visa

Me: L1 B

VO: Ok, In which organization you are working currently:

Me: XYZ

VO: since how long

Me: XX years and YY months

VO: what is overall experience

Me: XX Year and YY Months

VO: plz tell me once more as he was typing something

Me: smiled and told once more

VO: which skill you are having

Me: Told in 2 lines only.

VO confirmed one word again. I repeated the same word and he said ok.

VO: how long you this project is going to take

Me: XX months

VO: where you are going.

Me: Told the place and state

VO: let me ask few question to Miss

Me: Sure

VO: how long you are married

She: XX years

VO: How old your kid is

She: told

VO: what is your highest qualification

She: Told

VO smiled and said i am approving your visa. Please carry one copy of this while travelling. Happy Journey.

I smiled and said may thanks and left the counter.

It was nice experience and my suggestion to go thru thoroughly the questions shared on this site. No other questions.
