Hello, I have a PIO for two of my minors. There is unexpected travel coming up in three weeks. What are my best options;

1. Apply for OCI in lieu of PIO, Can I get passport back in less than 3 weeks and carry the evidence of OCI applied .
2. Apply for VISA to save time.

I heared Washington DC takes more time to receive OCI documents dispatched from MEA Delhi after processed, almost a month? is it true? But I see other centers like NY receiving and sending back to CKGS within a week.

Anyone has experience in DC processing center, timeline after Process completion?

Maybe this could interest someone in Europe. I applied for OCI in Helsinki and here are the details:

I had submitted my application on 25-FEB to at the Embassy. The process at the embassy was not perhaps the easiest as they were telling me I couldn't apply for OCI cause my passport was just valid till end of this year but then I showed the guidelines of MHA for OCI that said passport only needs to be valid for six months.

I tried applying for OCI at FRRO in Delhi this January and that was a painful experience, they were absolutely horribly and requested ORIGINAL Indian passports of my parents that they no longer have.

Anyway, hopefully this helps someone out there, I know most of the info has been very US-centric.

I need some help as I am totally confused by the new process

I got a new US passport and I am planning to get my OCI re-issued

When I created an application, during the shipping it states that I need to pay for 3 packets
1. One envelope to send the application
2. One envelope to send the original documents
3. One envelope for CKGS to send back the documents

So questions are
a) In step 1 do I only send the application and nothing else ?
b) in step 2 , what original documents do I send?
    - old us passport
    - oci card
    - current us passport
If I send the current us passport , when do I get it back or is not required anymore?

if they do require the current us passport, and if they do send it back , then shouldn't there be 4 courier packets

If anyone has applied in the same category or something similar could you please outline the new process?

I tried calling the call center but no one could answer anyone of my questions and neither do the FAQ's outline this

any help would be appreciated
