I wanted to share my experiences with CKGS and NYCGI while applying for OCI in lieu of PIO Card.
Hope this post will help another person
The overall experiences was very smooth by God's abundant Grace.
My daughter's PIO was issued in Chicago consulate. But since we moved to another state, we have to apply for OCI in NY CGI

Red ! in Verification Step
I applied for the OCI card and when I checked status about a week after, I see a red bang (!) in the Verification step. That step was stamped 3/10/17 (three days ago). However, the site says "Application Verification is ‘Complete’. Processing of your application will continue.". Not clear if the red bang simply means that was the last step it completed OR if there is a problem with verification. I haven't received any email and there is no other status on the website related to this. I do see an Alert on the top right but the only info there is receipt of payment.
Is the red bang just their way of saying that is the last step they finished, or did CKGS find something off and in the process of sending me email (I don't have any email; checked junk mail too).

OCI CARD is still pending at NY Embassy for more than 2 months
I applied for OCI card in the beginning of Jan 2017. Finally the application reached the NY Embassy on 10-JAN-2017 as it is shown in the government website.
It is more than two months now but still the following status is shown on the Government website,

I reached out to CKGS, they asked to reach out to embassy via email [email protected] to understand why it is delayed so. Had anyone similar experience in the past and reached out to embassy via email and got response from embassy?

OCI for my new borns
OCI application with relevant documents sent to CKGS on December 23rd. CKGS sent the application to the embassy in the first week of January and it's in process there since then for more than 2 months now. Does anyone have similar experience? I am seeing most of OCIs are received within 40 days. Not sure if more than 60 days is usual as in my case.

I applied on 18th Jan 2017 and received OCI card on 28th Feb 2017.
Noways process seems fast.They ask applicant's Original passport along with application.. They returned original passport within a week and completed OCI card delivery in 40 days.
