OCI Card Application Delay
Greetings,

I am applying for an OCI card as a spouse of an Indian OCI. I sent my application to the New York CKGS office 10 weeks ago. The application was processed the New York Consulate and sent to Delhi on March 2. It has been languishing in Delhi since then. According to the web site http://passport.gov.in/oci/statusEnqury:
Date Of Acknowledgment 23-FEB-2016
Registration Status at Mission NEW YORK CGI
Documents Printing Status UNDER-PROCESS
Note- Ordinarily, OCI Registration Certificate and Visa are available for delivery within 42 days from the date of acknowledgment. If there are any objections regarding Photographs/Signature/Thumb impression etc, the process may get delayed and the same will be communicated to applicant by the concerned Mission/ Office via OCI web site/ SMS/ Email/ Phone etc.

The latest entry on https://www.in.ckgs.us/trackandtrace/ shows:
Application Status: Application is under process at the Embassy / Consulate for further scrutinization and may take upto 6 to 8 weeks for next update. Please continue tracking your application status online.
Date of Status: 03/02/2016

I called the CKGS help line earlier this week, but they didn't seem to be very helpful. After a long and heated discussion with their representative, he gave me an "escalation number" and said that they would report back by email, but I haven't heard back from them.

I am now worried that my OCI application is held in limbo at Delhi. Is there anyone in the Indian consulate/government I can contact about this?

I am scheduled to travel to India in July and I am afraid that my OCI card will not be ready by then. Should I apply for a regular tourist visa?

Here is the time line of my application:

3/02/2016 Your OCI application has now been ‘Sent to Delhi, India’ from the Indian Embassy/ Consulate in the USA for further securitization and processing.
2/24/2016 Passport 'Withdrawn Temporarily' from the Embassy / Consulate as per the request sent for withdrawal for 1.USA AND 1.INDIAN PASSPORT WITH RENUNCIATION AND MARRIGE CERTIFICATE - Sent back by FedEx.
2/23/2016 Date of Acknowledgment
2/19/2016 Your Application has been ‘Processed’ at the CKGS Application Centre.
2/17/2016 Payment Receipt for your Application
2/17/2016 Received your OCI Application and your Application is now ‘Under Process’ at CKGS.

By contrast, when my wife applied for OCI (as a naturalized US citizen, former Indian citizen) last year, the whole process took 6 weeks, including 1 month from Date of Acknowledgment to OCI card being printed in Delhi.

Thanks for any suggestions,
Zig Fiedorowicz

OCI Card Notary
Hi,

I have got Notary done for all documents at San Francisco, California for new OCI card for Minor and the notary is attached as a separate page with each document but not on the copy of the document. Can you please let me know if that is fine to have notary as a separate sheet?

Thank you in advance for your help

Is there an option to submit OCI application in-person, instead of sending documents by mail/online?
Hi All,

I completed filling-up Part A & B of OCI Application for minor.
 - Uploaded photo and signature documents as part of Part A.
- Uploaded US Passport for minor, Parents passports (first, last pages) and Birth Certificate of Minor for Proof of indian origin.
- Assuming as per 1. Checklist of Documents to be to UPLOADED on Govt. of India website, these are enough.

- And rest of documents need to be sent by mail (post) as per 2. Checklist of PHYSICAL Document to be sent to CKGS Application Centre

Please let me know if my assumption is correct.

I got below question can someone please clarify.

Is there an option to submit OCI application in-person, instead of sending documents by mail/online?

Thanks,
Mano

How long before you can track OCI application on ckgs?
I filled the application on the India site and paid with the USAxxxx reference number I got from there at the CKGS website. Also paid for shipping there as well. I sent in my application by fedex to Houston and they received the package last Friday(Apr 8th). I already had the renunciation certificate, so it was only the OCI application.

So far, I have not received any acknowledgement from CKGS that they have my application and passports and other documents. When I try using the reference no and passport number on their tracking website, it comes back as not in their system and it is not trackable on the India site either.

How long doe sit take before CKGS acknowledges receipt of your application and when does it become trackable?

Little bit worried since I don't trust these guys.
