OCI Match up
After a wait of almost 3 months from the data of acknowledgement, I finally see the status as "Document received At Washington DC". So I believe I am ready for match up (even without an email from CKGS)!

Please enlighten on below regarding the match up form:
1) Apart from baby's thumb impression, do both parents also need to sign on the match up form?
2) Payment Receipt / Order Form - what is this?
3) Duly Signed Copy of the Match Up Request Form - is this some other form which needs to be signed and attached?

Appreciate any response!

Waiting time for OCI application for spouse
I posted earlier on this forum about a 3 month delay in processing my OCI application in Delhi. I am applying as a spouse of an Indian OCI. It was suggested that I email [email protected], but I got no response. I also sent an email to [email protected] but that email address now redirects to [email protected].

I finally managed to call the New York consulate helpline at 212-774-0635. (This line is active 2-4pm. At other times it redirects to the main consulate switchboard.) I got their voicemail, but I got a prompt call-back. After emailing my particulars to [email protected], I got an email reply the next day, which stated that my OCI application was awaiting approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Moreover the email stated that there is NO TIMELINE for processing spousal OCI applications.

This is contrary to the FAQ at http://mha1.nic.in/pdfs/oci-faq.pdf:
-------------------------------------------
In the case of application submitted as a spouse of foreign origin
of a citizen of India or spouse of foreign origin of an OCI
Cardholder, the person shall be registered as an OCI Cardholder
only after prior clearance of the Ministry of Home Affairs
(Foreigners Division) in terms of the proviso to clause (d) of sub-
section (1) of section 7A of the Citizenship Act, 1955 as
incorporated by the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2015 notified
on 10 th March, 2015. In all such cases, it is expected that the
final comments/ clearance of the Ministry of Home Affairs
(Foreigners Division) shall be uploaded on the online system
within 30 days of acknowledgement of the application.
-------------------------------------------

Doing a Google search through the forums here, I found a post from someone on these forums who applied for a spousal OCI card in May 2015 and was still waiting for approval in November 2015 - a delay of at least 6 months.

I would like to ask the forum members here who applied for a spousal OCI card to post about their experiences.

Thanks for any information,
Zig Fiedorowicz

New OCI for Minor - Houston
I applied OCI for my 2 kids at Houston. The whole process took 2 1/2 months. Sent the application on 2/29 and OCI dispatched from New Delhi on 4/29. For some reason, after the OCI card reached Houston, the consulate didn't update the tracking. So I contacted the consulate directly and enquired the case status and they said it must have reached and it will take sometime to update(which never happened). Since my travel is coming up on 5/20, I drove from Dallas to Houston alone and collected the OCI in-person on 5/13. No need for applicant to be present.

OCI Match-up in person:-
I reached consulate at 9:20AM and security guard signed me up and asked to wait on 2nd floor of the waiting area. There were already 3-4 guys ahead of me. First-come first-serve with no issue of tokens. The officers started their work at 9:30AM. While I was waiting couple of CKGS guys came with suitcases, which probably contains applications and match-up documents. When my turn came up, the officer simply took the US passport (didn't ask any reason for urgency) and went inside. After 20 minutes, they called me and handed over the OCI cards. They asked me to check the accuracy of passport number, name and date of birth. Sign the form to acknowledge that you received the card. I am out by 10:20AM.

Brief timelines:-
2/29 - Sent the application to CKGS thru FedEx
3/5 - CKGS acknowledges the application
3/8 - OCI application reached Houston Consulate
4/7 - New Delhi acknowledges he application and tracking available on govt website
4/28 - OCI printed

Sending passport for matchup before received date posted?
Hi,
My children's OCI's have been dispatched from New Delhi for NY CGI on 12th May. I'm expecting it to reach by 17th/18th. My tickets are booked for 30th May to rush for a family emergency back in India. I was thinking of sending the pp for matchup even before "documents received" date is posted so that pp reaches on time for matchup. CKGS acknowledges receipt of documents really late.

www.indiacgny.org/pages.php?id=851 says walk in is possible for emergency travel but I stay too far from NY to walk in. Can I email or enclose a copy of my air ticket with the pp's to speed up my case. Anyone has done this? Help appreciated!

New OCI Application - Atlanta
Has anyone recently filed an OCI application to Atlanta? I have sent an new OCI application for my minor son.

CKGS has received it on 4/27.
Sent to Embassy on 5/4.

I am able to track the application on government website where it is showing acknowledgement date as 5/5 but I have not received any communication in this regard from CKGS. Is it normal or I should check with them?

OCI with New York?
Anyone had recent OCI experiences with NY mission? They say 25-35 business days. Do they really adhere and process it in that much time. My kids OCI was acknowledged at New Delhi on 19th Apr. The documents printing is still UNDER PROCESS. I've a travel coming up on June 1. Really worried about it. CKGS customer care aren't really helpful.

I'm wondering how long is taking the whole process? And when the Government site is updated after the application submission?

My application sent to April 7th and is under process from April 8th but the Government site is still showing 'No such record found'. I have travel coming up on May 29th so worried.

Appreciate your help.

Mr Shetty email?
Hi folks,
Everywhere I see Mr Shetty's email id splattered for any queries or complaints with our OCI procedure. Is Mr. Shetty still in service because right now I see Mr. Anand Joshi's email ([email protected]) when directed to http://passport.gov.in/oci .
Do they really reply to us promptly?
