Was able to get it done first attempt which made the process much easier.

I have filled out an OCI application for my mother on December 26, 2022. As per the status enquiry, the application is still under process as of today, July 18, 2023. The application was sent through the Indian Embassy in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. I visited the embassy to inquire about the update, but they themselves had no information regarding why it is still under process.

Do you have any idea where I can follow up on the status of the application? Is there another way to inquire about why it has not progressed beyond the "Under Process" stage?

I applied for a new OCI minor application at the San Francisco post and the application was received by the consulate on 18 APR 2023.

It has been 55 working days since then and no new update from the consulate. I understand that SFO consulate is under staffed but on the consulate website it says I can contact the consulate if it has been more than 50 working days since the submission of the application.

Is there any way I can expedite or escalate on my application? Any advice is helpful. Already checked with VFS global team and they said they can't do much until consulate gives any update.

We have travel coming end of June'23, hope to receive OCI in time for the travels.
Please share your experience if getting OCI will be less than 2 week.

March 16, 2023: Notice "Your Application has been ‘Processed’ at the VFS India Consular application Centre and currently is ‘In-Transit‘ to the Embassy of India/Consulate General of India for decision making."

I've been waiting since March 16 but it still shows processing.

I just checked https://ociservices.gov.in/statusEnqury and it says "POOR QUALITY OF PHOTOGRAPH-SEND FRESH PHOTOGRAPH IN PART-A OF DOWNLOADABLE FORM". It's probably been this way for months but I've been checking the VFS site and it says processing.

I called VFS and they wouldn't acknowledge the status on the Indian govt website and opened a 'ticket' saying everything looks good a their end. When I mentioned the status on the govt site saying its obvious I need to send photos and asked for the process, they just said to wait for the ticket to process.

For people waiting for a long time, please make sure to check the Indian govt site for your status.

I'd appreciate it if someone could chime in with the best way to send updated photos. Do I courier them to the SF CGI directly? Do I need to upload it to the digital application as well? What other documents should I send along with the photos? Thank you.

We did not receive any status update emails from VFS global after OCI ack emails, so essentially that $5 sms service is a waste of your money.
