vfs is closed until 13th, sharing the email i got
Thank you for contacting the VFS Indian Visa, Passport & OCI Application Center Help Desk in the United States.

Our Operations centre in San fransisco has been impacted due to Covid -19 and will remain closed till 13th Jan 2021. VFS needs to undertake certain health and safety precautions as mandated by San fransisco authorities. This will impact our normal Consular functioning.

Please send across your applications or pending documents to the San fransisco after 13th Jan 2021.

For applications or pending documents already sent received, you may check the updated status of the application on or after 13th Jan 2021 once we resume normal operations by visiting our website - https://services.vfsglobal.com/usa/en/ind/track-application

In case of further assistance, please feel free to reply to the same email or you may contact us on *** 800 320 9693 and we will be glad to assist you.

Notarization Question
I went to Chase bank for notarization and the notary stamped one of his certificates and on that mentioned which document he was certifying. He did not notarize the documents i had. Has anyone had success with this approach with VFS or should i try to get the notary stamp on the application documents ?

OCI card: Its almost 6 weeks from the date of acknowledgement Washington DC
VFS process is very slow. There is no status update until we send an email. Washington DC received my OCI card on 5th December. I have reserved the flights and took Covid-19 test appointment assuming I will get my OCI card with in a week max. Today is 11th till now they did not dispatch my OCI card. I have never seen this kind of process in America. I got my USA passport with in 2.5 weeks even though they mentioned it is 8 weeks. Few years back I got my Indian passport in couple of weeks. I have requesting through emails to send the OCI card but they are delaying more. I thought I will spend my Sankranti with my 76 years old mother who is waiting for last 3 years. usually I visit every year. This time due to pandemic and other personal issues it got delayed. Today I cried a lot. Two days back they created a label but did not send yet.

This VFS process has to be suspended and give it back to CKGS or they have to improve their process. On CKGS they used to tell the status on website. ON VFS site its still telling it reached embassy. On Indian embassy site it clearly showing it reached DC on Jan5th.

My recommendation is to prepare for whole 8 weeks and do not send emails to them , Looks like our anxiety and waiting to go to India , They are delaying on a purpose. I want embassy to take action why they need lot of time even to dispatch the OCI card even after multiple requests and letting them know that we reserved the tickets. Process is expensive too.

OCI card conflicting information on VFS website and OCI govt website and name change affidavit
anyone mind sharing where did you get name change affidavit? in USA

i am getting conflicting information from VFS, first they sent me an email asking my mothers. name on my passport is different than the her name on application, so i sent the affidavit from india. also return label from UPS 3 weeks ago. they asked for only these 1.. my. mother change affidavit, 2. ups return label for OCI card

then i got an email saying that my application processed at ICAC and in transit to embassy

now i tracked my application on VFS

its says: your application reached embassy

but in remarks

Remarks: it shows that they need

1. my name change affidavit, its not much of change its just syllables and middle name since indian passport doesnt have middle name.

2. my mothers name change affidavit, its already sent two weeks ago from india, we got the confirmation from DHL that its receieved at SFO

3. UPS return label i sent it like a month ago, im not sure why are they asking again? i got confirmation from UPS they received it.

but in OCI govt tracking it says its UNDER PROCESS

anyone in the same situation ? of conflicting info and very poor communication? can you plz share where to get name change affidavit notarized?

OCI - Online form questions
Hi,

I am applying for a new OCI for my 15 month old son (minor). After filling out the form online on the govt site, and printing it out, my questions are:

1) The OCI checklist from the VFS site says that for the Govt Appl. Online Form, in case of minor, both parents signatures are required. But, on the printed form, there is place for only one signature, where can the other parent sign? Would signing next to initial sign be acceptable?
2) The OCI checklist from the VFS site also says notary is required on the last page of the OCI form. I assume this would be the page where the parents would sign (the page says page 3 of 6), but pages 4,5 and 6 are instructions pages. Is this true?
3)With regards to photos, it says two passport size photos are required. The physical photo must be affixed to the physical form and the digital photo must be uploaded on the Govt. form online. Now,, I uploaded the digital photo online and the printed copy of the form already has the picture of the photo. Do I still need to affix the physical photo on the printed form? If yes, where? Where the digital photo appears on the printed form? And what about the second photo? Just send it with the other documents?
4) The thumb impression for my son is also appears under the photo from what I had uploaded online. Do I need to get my son thumb print page 3, where it asks for the signature of the applicant?
5)And in the instructions it says documents must be self attested. How is that done? Just sign every page in each document?
6)And the OCI checklist from the VFS site asks fpr Applicants name, email, passport no., and mobile, do we need to fill that? And filling in with handwriting is fine? Or should it be typed in?

Ant help appreciated!

Thanks!
