what does it mean " your application reached embassy?"
i sent the additional documents Vfs updated my status as my application reached embassy, but the status REMARKS: says " i need to send the name change affidavit and return label" even thought i sent them.
so my question is can they send the application to the embassy even thought they didnt receive the additional documents?
in the government OCI status says its under process
so may questions is VFS clears every thing before they send it to embassy or Embassy can request additional documents?
this whole process is extremely confusing with very poor communication

New OCI card - receipt delay after dispatch from MEA
Looks like a lot of people from Washington DC and SFO are still waiting for their new oci cards to be received at the respective consulates after dispatch from MEA.
Can you please put your Document printing Status date, Dispatched from MEA date and consulate here in the comments so we can get a sense of the backlog and if needed follow up with consulate, VFS highlighting the delay ?

I sent in my minor child's OCI card renewal application to VFS NY.
Following is the timeline.
Sent OCI renewal package by USPS Priority Mail - 12/24/2020.
Package delivery attempt but offices closed on - 12/26/2020.
Package delivered via USPS tracking on - 12/28/2020.
Date of Acknowledgement on MEA OCI inquiry site - 1/11/2021. ( This is with random checking)
Date of Acknowledgement received by VFS via e-mails and text - 1/12/2021.
Status updated on MEA OCI inquiry site - 1/14/2021 to Processed, Dispatched from New Delhi, Reached CGI NY. - 1/14/2021
Now waiting for the last step of delivery of OCI card to residence by VFS.

New OCI - Washington DC
Hi,
is there anyone who got their OCI card recently from Washington DC?? on the India government website it says OCI is printed and received by Washington embassy on Jan6th, 2021 but till now I haven't heard anything back from the VFS yet asking me to pay for the shipment. I really appreciate if you can share your experiences if anyone are on the same boat and same timeline.

New OCI Original Passport return recent experience
Hi All,
I would like to know current experience from any one on how many days it takes to get back original passport after new OCI application ?
I am in situation to travel india sooner to take care of my family member who is not-well currently, Before applying Emergency Visa, i thought of applying OCI for my new born and get back the original passport then to take Emergency visa application or travel, as i will be back in a month so don't wanted OCI process to get delayed.

OCI card NYCGI
Hi guys very important that I receive a reply at the earliest...
I sent my oci card application via an agent,my date of acknowledgment was on dec17,2020.And I just got to know that my document was received on jan12 at NYCGI.
I haven't got my passport as yet ..is this a normal wait time?I tried calling the vfsglobal contact no.but it's from 8am to 8 pm.I trusted the agent to get the job done...
Also I just got to know about this forum a little too late and feel like my agent has taken me for a ride....i
I need to know the remaining procedures that I have to do from my end regarding receiving my oci card and passport.I just have my reference number which I received from him today.Kindly help...

OCI Renewal for Adult
I sent my OCI Renewal Application to VFS Chicago and it was delivered on Jan 4, 2021. I received the following txt from them
"Ref number YYYY YYYY XX. Your application has been reviewed by the CG of India and is ready for collection at the ICAC or will be dispatched within 24 business hours"
I assume this means that the application will be sent back to VFS for further processing. Does anybody know what this message means? I'm sure it will take many weeks for the OCI Card to be printed and sent.

How long is the Online OCI Registration valid on Govt site
How long does the Online OCI registration (fully completed one) remain valid on the Govt site?
Do I need to send the final documents to the VFS location within a certain set of days after completing the Online OCI registration on the Govt site? Is there any timeline? Or a delay of 15-20 days is fine?

Do I have to send passport for oci renewal
I got a new passport in Aug 20, i am thinking to submit oci renewal application but not sure if I have to send my passport too? I think it takes 2 months if you are lucky, i don't want to send my passport to these stupid and unorganized people for 2 months, this would be a problem if I have to go somewhere in emergency.
Does Indian immigration allow to travel to India with old oci and new passport?

NEW OCI card-Washington DC-sent app. package with US passport- delivered, but no info from VFS
1. Sent application package with US passport on 11/21/2020, using VFS global issued courier labels.
2. The app. package was delivered on 11/24/2020, at "INDIAN CONSULAR APPLICATION CENTRE VFS OFFICE, 1025 VERMONT AVE, N.W, SUITE 320, WASHINGTON, DC 20005.
3. Till this date I have not received any acknowledgement from them that they received OCI app.
4. Using Vfs enquiry, sent 7 messages. I am getting autoreplies.
5. Called and talked to customer service twice, by paid calls. Customer service, Neil told, he is going to escalate this issue. Till this day no status updates. worried about the US passport.
Advice. Can I take legal action?
