PIO Card

My status finally changed today. Its been stressful 3 weeks, changed my travel dates 2 times already :(

Anyone here who picked up PIO in person from NY center? Can I pickup on Monday (11/17/2014) with below status, I am planning to fly same (Monday) night, but not 100 % sure if I will be able to get PIO by Monday.

Anyone who had issues picking PIO in person, please share your experience.

Any help is highly appreciated.

Finally it's approved and I got it on time for travel on nov 18.
Below r the details
Finally my son's PIO card is approved from Chicago.
It was a very stressful time as we were not sure if we will be able to travel on nov 18.

Below r the details.

Some observations :
1. There is no communication between the chicago office and the ckgs phone number. The ckgs people on the phone have no information than we do and it is very frustrating .
2. The phone guys just repeat 3 to 4 weeks and some cases 6 weeks.
3. If you are traveling I would recommend applying 2 months early to remove the stress before travel. I literally went through days of sleeples nights because of it.
4. Even though we repeatedly requested them to hold on to the passport so that we can come and collect t it, they totally ignored us and posted it. Luckily it's a weekday and fedex overbite and we had 3 more days for travel else our passport would be in - transit when we are supposed to travel.
5. The above proves that there is absolutely no communication between the chicago office and the ckgs phone / call center.
6. On the pio card it says the approval date is oct 28...and expiry is for lifetime.

Overall I think I got lucky that we could get the passport on time. But definitely to be stress free apply it 2 months ahead or just take a visa.

Finally received the PIO card for my son. Thanks to CKGS. This was processed in NY center.

Hi All,

   I submitted my daughters application to CKGS on --- Sept 26th,2014

   Application submitted to Washington DC embassy only on October 20 which was 3 weeks later

I was calling up CKGS every other day but finally i get a call back saying they left a voice message ( which they didnt) regarding some missing papers. I did not get an update online regarding this

However the lady was kind enough to ask me to send the papers via email and the application was submitted without further ado. However By that time I lost 3 weeks time.
 
I have a travel coming up on Nov 19th. I understand a lot of people are on the same boat . Did anyone drive
to Embassy and try to get PIO card ? Is there a way we can do that ? Let me know of any experiences

Any updates from the guys whose passports were sent to consulate after Oct 20 to NY Consulate, Mine was submitted to consulate on Oct 29..not sure whether i will get it before thanksgiving.

I've applied on Oct 8 and CKGS sent the application to the embassy on 16. I have travel coming up in a couple of weeks and I'm really worried. Will it help if I pay a visit to the embassy.

Did any of you applied for the same around these dates or even before,say between last week of sept 2014 and 1st week of october, who got their renuciation and PIO card simultaneously.

I thought this whole process will be completed within a month, am i being too optimistic?

Any insight into this or other suggestions , like with drawing the appliacation for PIO and applying
for a expedited visa etc will be appreciated.

I have planned to start to India on NOV 27 2014 .

Any one can give me some hope or ways to find exact status ? so that I can act accordingly, Starting on Nov 27th is very important for me, Appreciate your Responses.
