NY/ Manhattan filet interview schedule
Hi
I filled my N400 on September 2019
Did my biometric on October
Completion time was July 2020
Around February that changed to October 2020. Just last week it was saying wait time 2 months completion time 3 months. But yesterday when I logged in it says wait time 30 days completion time 3 months. I want to be excited for that but I’m skeptical so I want to know if anyone from Manhattan/ NYC had that happened to them before and also please share your timeline thank you!
What does "Our inatake processing center is handling your case" means?
My N400 application was canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. However, when I checked my status on the phone, it stated that the USCIS intake processing center is looking at my case. Does that mean that my background check has not been clear yet? Or does it mean that they already receiving the background check and doing an additional review? I'm confused! Thanks!
I just got a mail saying they have taken an action. I checked my account and it says my oath ceremony has been schduled. I just don't know when as the document is not available yet. I will update once I see it.
Things have started moving again fellas. we are almost there!!
I have been waiting for my n400 decision since 8/7/2019 and no evidence required. Is anyone like me? waiting that long?
I required 3 times of my case outside of normal processing, and they all give me that answer( a formal adjudicative decision can't be made on my case).
First of all, many thanks for all people who have posted their experiences, asked and answered questions. It was a very helpful source to prepare as much as one can for a citizenship interview.

I had my interview at 8:45AM at the Tukwila field office and my wife had hers at 10:15AM. We were both allowed to enter together at 8:30AM. After security check, I went to the counter for interview appointments. The guy scanned the interview appointment letter, checked my fingerprint, took my photo (had to take my corona mask off for the photo) and was given a ticket (“P8”) and told to go upstairs to 2nd floor.
Right on time, someone came out of a door and called out my number “P8”. I almost missed this because I thought they were calling someone by their name and didn’t realize he was calling out my ticket number. Anyways, I was taken to a room and was told my interview will be a virtual one. I was asked to place my appointment letter, green card, drivers license and current passport on the table and put everything else away in a drawer. The immigration officer came online on an ipad in front of me. The office was a very pleasant one, not sure if that’s how he is or it has to do with me or the time of the day but he was warm all throughout the interview. He asked me to stand, raise my hand and acknowledge that I am under oath to tell the truth. After that, the officer asked me to show the green card into the camera on the ipad, followed by the drivers license. He said he will start with the civics test, then verify biographic info and lastly eligibility. He asked me the following 6 questions:
1. Why do some states have more Representatives than others?
2. Name 2 US holidays
3. What is the rule of the law?
4. Who makes federal laws?
5. What happened on 9/11?
6. Where is the Statue of Liberty?
I answered all 6 questions correctly and he didn’t ask me anymore and said I passed the test. He moved on to the English reading and writing test. He initiated a printout from his office but the printer wasn’t cooperating. So, he came over to where I was and said he needs to switch over to a traditional interview due to the printer issues. He walked me over to his office. There he asked me to read out aloud a sentence “How many senators do we have?” and made me write “We have one hundred senators”. After this, he said I passed the English test and that he is moving on to the biographic info. He went over every single question in the N400 form. Most of my anxiety was centered around Q23 “ Have you ever been cited, detained…”. I have had 8 traffic violations over the past 19 years that I have been in the country (inc. careless driving tickets, speeding, non-maintenance of headlight, non-observance of traffic signal). You can imagine the anxiety on first whether to answer Yes or No and then secondly stick to the No during the interview. I had said NO on the N400 when I submitted it in 2019 but I chose to mention that I have had traffic violations. I stated that none of them have caused injury or involved DUI or led to an arrest or had a fine of more than $500. He asked me two questions: (1) have fines been paid; I said yes (2) when was the last one; I said 1.5 years back. He moved on, no further questions, didn’t ask for any proof. You cannot imagine the relief at this point during the interview. I have had more than 15 international trips during the last 5 years across multiple countries. He asked me about the purpose (which was work related). After he was done with all questions, he said congratulations, I am recommending approval of your citizenship. He took my green card, had me sign on the ipad and printed out a couple of forms that I had to physically sign. He told me he needs his supervisor to push it through and he will give me the oath right in his office. He made me wait outside in the waiting area for 10 mins, called me in, and gave me the oath of allegiance. Woo-hoo! And just like that, after 19 years, of F1, H1, EAD/AP, GC, I was a US citizen. I was told to wait outside in the waiting area for another 15 mins before someone came and gave me my US Naturalization certificate and a packet that included info on how to apply for my passport, register as a voter and update social security record.
Best wishes to those that have interviews coming up. Happy to answer questions if there are any.
Just wanna share with you my experience. I had my combo N400/I751 interview this morning in San Francisco office.
Appointment was at 8:45, went with My partner and they called us in at 9:00Am
The interviewer was very nice and professional at the same time. She briefed us on whats going to happen before starting. She said that she will start with the I751 interview and if we pass then she will ask my partner to step outside and do the N400.
I751 questions to my partner:
- where did you meet?
- how did you maintain the relationship since we were both in 2 different countries.
- Were you married before?
- have you met his parents and family?
- Have he met your family?
- when did yoh guys move to San Francisco?
- who moved first?
- Where do you live? Is it owned or rented?
- you have the lease?
- Have you had any separation?
What documents do u have that shows shared assets
I had a loooot of documents, I even gave her the monthly bank account movement for 3 years!
She was impressed by the documents so try to have as much documents of joint stuff as possible .
Then she asked my partner to step outside and did the N400 interview. Went over info from the application like name, address, where do u work and repeated a couple of questions asked to me and my partner.
English test was easy read” Who was the first presidenti?” and write “Washington is the first president “
Civics questions
1. name one war in the 180”
2. Whats an amendment?
3. What did the Declaration of Independence do?
4. Whats the highest court?
5. Who is chief justice?
6 how many amendments?
Then stopped cause I got them right.
Went through the yes and no questions then had me confirm my name info were spelled correctly as this is how its gonna be in the naturalization certificate.
Then she told me to wait for the Oath notification in the mail although she gave me a letter saying decision cant be made!
I asked her how did the interview go, she said it was good, u passed! Its just that the process is different now and we have only been open for 15 days.
Fingers crossed it wont take much longer and good luck to everyone out there.
