Oath ceremony delayed over a month without name change
Hi,

Thanks for all the updates in this forum.

My online status changed to "oath ceremony will be scheduled" on Oct 17th. I still see no update to the schedule or didnt get notice too.

I am Out of country and need to travel to US to take the oath. My lawyer's address in on the file. Anyone experiencing this much delay in getting the oath notice?

Thanks

N400 Interview Experience, Nov 16 2018
I had successfully passed my N-400 Interview test at the Pittsburgh USCIS office on Nov 16, 2018. Here is my timeline:

Applied Online: Aug 08, 2018
Biometrics : Aug 28, 2018
Interview Scheduled Date: Oct 10, 2018
Interview Date: Nov 16, 2018

The interview was delayed by an hour due to bad weather in the region. As soon as the interview started, the immigration officer sincerely apologized for the delay and asked me to take the oath.

She asked my full name, SSN, DOB, questions related to marriage, current employment, current and past residence, and all Part 12 questions from the N400 applications and 6 civics and US history related questions. I answered all 6 questions, except I fumbled on one question "What is the rule of law". The officer gave some hints so that I could answer it correctly. Then she asked me to write and read a sentence on a tablet. She asked me if she had know anything else prior to proceeding further. I mentioned about 2 traffic citations which I didn't put in the application. She said as long as the fines are less than $500 and if I had paid them , then there are no issues. She made the corrections on the application and the took my digital signatures. She said I passed the test and gave me a letter with some information about oath ceremony.

There is nothing to stress about the interview. This is one of the simplest interviews I have had in 18+ years. The officers are very friendly, they primarily focus on criminal background questions. Good luck to all who are waiting.

California - N400 experience
I have been following this forum since I started my n400 application. Thanks everyone who provided support and I would like to add my part.

My timeline:
FO: San Jose, CA
PD: Sept 16, 2017
Biometrics: Oct 6, 2017

case status" case was received " for 13 months
Sept 24, 2018: Inline for interview
Sept 24, 2018: Interview scheduled
Oct 29, 2018: Interview took place, passed. She asked me 6 civic questions, asked every single question on N400 application form, she asked about traffic citations, they care about DUI as far as I understand and I did not have. She said she approved for naturalization, she was actually very kind and thorough doing her job.

Nov 5: Oath Schedule Mailed out
Nov15: Naturalization ceremony

My journey is finally over and for those who are waiting, be patient and next will be you.

I also applied for US passport right after the ceremony and registered to vote like many others. I would say the most enjoyable part was the naturalization ceremony thru this journey as the official speakers from USCIS made a lot of jokes while talking on stage before oath and they were really welcoming us as new Citizens of the United States. It was a really special day for me. And there were 474 more people who naturalized yesterday.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Oakland Part - Oath Completed - Citizen now!!
My journey has now come to an end after about 13 months (total of 25 years). I am extremely thankful for all of you who provided support and knowledge when needed. For those of you still waiting, hang in there. I know it sucks to wait, but your time is getting closer.

The ceremony was wonderful. Was scheduled at 7:30am, and showed up a bit before. There were 156 people from 46 countries. They reviewed our form and made sure we had the green card to return, for all the people there in the reception area. Then they asked the guests to move to the ceremony room. After a few minutes they lined us all up and we went in as well. Ceremony itself was about 45 minutes or so. We were out of there by 8:30. Very moving.

Let me know if you have any questions. I'd be happy to add more detail.

USPS Informed Delivery
For anyone who is worried that letters or notifications from USCIS will somehow get lost in the mail, I would suggest that you sign up for the USPS Informed Delivery Service. Once you are registered USPS will send you an email every morning with scanned pictures of the mail pieces that are scheduled to be delivered to you that day. There have been times that the mail delivery person placed my mail in the wrong mailbox, so being registered for the USPS Informed Delivery Service really helped to put my mind at ease. You can register on the USPS website.
