Interview Done
IOE application received by USCIS on 05/02/16
Biometrics done on 06/06/16
Interview Date 11/04/16

My interview was taken today in Santa Ana, CA.
The officer was polite, but he seemed all too business at first which scared me. I had to take an oath, we got into the civics Questions right away, and he started going down the application. Although I didn't apply based on marriage, he asked a lot of questions about my husband and my son. He asked about my prior addresses, employment, school, then we got to the criminal portion. I was arrested for talking back to an officer about ten years ago. He had me go into detail about it. He seemed to warm up to me by then and seemed empathetic. He told me it was a stupid misdemeanor and that wouldn't affect his decision. After answering more questions from the application, he said he was going to approve my case!
My status on the website already changed to Oath ceremony letter has been mailed!
It felt like it was taking forever, but if you just wait patiently, all will be taken care of.

CITIZENSHIP APPLICATION (N-400) EXPERIENCE – BALTIMORE FIELD OFFICE
7/22/2016 – N-400 Sent via FEDEX Overnight mail

7/25/2016 – N-400 received by USCIS

7/28/2016 – Money Orders cleared.

8/1/2016 – Form I-797C Notice Of Action received

8/12/2016 – Biometrics Notice received

8/25/2016 – Biometrics appointment

8/27/2016 – Received text message – Case in line for interview. “On August 26, 2016, we started the interview scheduling process for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, Receipt Number NBC **** ***. We will send you an interview notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice.”

09/16/2016 – Received text message – Your case number NBC **** **** *** is now updated. Check “My Case Status” at www.uscis.gov.

9/16/2016 – “My Case Status” checked and updated as follows, “On September 16, 2016, we scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, Receipt Number NBC **** **** ***. We will mail you an interview notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice.”

09/20/2016 – Interview Notice received for October 24, 2016.

10/24/2016 – Interview Officer was really nice. Before I started my interview I had to swear to tell the truth. Then my N-400 application was reviewed.

Next I was given a reading test. I was asked to read from a sheet of paper, “How many U.S. Senators are there?

Next I was given a writen test. I was read the following statement and told to transpose it. – “We have one hundred U.S. Senators.”

Then I was asked to answer the following questions -:

1) What is the name of the national anthem?

2) How old do citizens have to be to vote for President?

3) What is the “rule of law”?

4) What ocean is on the West Coast of the United States?

5) What major event happened on September 11, 2001, in the United States?

6) Why does the flag have 13 stripes?

Once I correctly answered the above questions, the Immigration Officer congratulated me and gave me form N-652 (Naturalization Interview Results). This form basically told me that I passed the test of English and US History and Government. It also congratulated me and stated my application was recommended for approval.

Because Baltimore no longer does same day swearing in ceremonies, the officer read off a list of dates and times from which I was allowed to make a selection. I selected Wednesday, October 26, 2016. The Officer then handed me form N-445, “Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony”. This form consists of eight of questions that must be answered prior to the ceremony. The form will be collected at the ceremony.

Overall I had a very pleasant experience.

Finger Prints: May 30th

LONG WAIT

Interview Scheduled: October 11th
Interview Date: November 17th

I called USCIS couple of times, just to make sure everything is ok and what was the reason for delay, I have been told that LA time is 5 months, and they were right. I got my interview scheduled within that 5 month time frame. I have also downloaded the "CASE TRACKER" app and I search for 50-100 case and noticed that a lot of people are getting in line for interview. Will update you of my interview soon.
