N400 San Francisco
Hi all,

My spouse is planning to submit her application for the N400. Just wondering what are people's timelines in regards to getting the biometrics and how long to get an interview during these times at the SF office? This will really help my planning. If you want to know my timeline (pre-pandemic), I have posted my timeline here on this site - just click on my username to check out my previous post.

Thanks.

Waiting for 3 months
Hi everyone,

I had my citizenship interview on June 10th and I applied on the rule of 5 years.
I got my green card through my husband, unfortunately he passed away almost 6 years ago, just 3 and a half years after we got married.
I could not get my citizenship based on the rule of 3 years marriage because at the time that he passed away I had only 2 years of green card married. He passed away on December 31st 2016(a nightmare I will always remember :((((((. )

USCIS granted me my permanent residency on May 2018.

April 2021, while I was still on my citizenship application, I got married to my new partner whom I started dating beginning of 2019. He is an Italian citizen and does not have american papers yet.

The day of my citizenship interview the system was down so I had to wait for 4 hours and then I finally got called in.
My officer was very very strict. And I bet she was also tired from the whole system situation. She asked me the civic test question and because I have a terrible handwriting (I guess) she also asked me to write 4 different sentences in English and she kind of yelled at one moment. Btw I know very good English just scientist handwriting.
Passed all the civic test questions.
She asked me about my late husband, when did we get married and when he passed away.
And then she asked me about my current husband and his immigration status, also what did he do in Italy. She asked about my trips outside of USA and I answered correctly. Then she asked if I owe any tax to the country, which I don't. She asked me if I had any unpaid ticket and I answer NO because I do not have. She question marked my NO and I said, well I just bike, I do not drive. She also asked about my education in Sweden, weather I finished my masters or no and if I did a PhD. In the end she made me sign some forms and told me you passed the test but the decision will be mailed to you.
I have been waiting for 3 months and no answer. Can someone share their opinion. My lawyer told me there is nothing to worry about, and I totally know that but the waiting is very frustrating.

Question about Residence
I had a 5 month trip to my home country this year (due to family emergencies). I maintained my current residence in US, which I have been renting for about 6 years now. Also, filed my taxes on time.

As this trip was less than 6 months, I'm thinking this shouldn't be an issue. However, if I'm asked the question - "Have you lived anywhere else in the last 3-5 years?"

Should I mention my home country address in addition to my US residence? Whats the best way to answer this? Any similar experiences for anyone?

Thank you!

Change of address
I'll be eligible to apply for citizenship in a month or two, but I am moving temporarily to a different state due to a training for less than a year. So it'll be easier to apply while I'm there. What would I need to establish prove of residency in the new state? Do I need to get the new state's driver's license ?
