B2 visa for tourism
Hi,

My husband was going to US in Dec2015 for a conference and I wanted to go along with him. We had planned a 2 week trip after the conference to visit 3 cities in US.

My OFC and Interview both were done in Mumbai.

VO - Why do you want to go to the US?
Me - Going for a trip. Husband has a XYZ conference in ABC city. Would go with him and visit P, Q and R cities.

VO - Do you work in India?
Me - Yes

Vo - where and since when have you been working?
Me - Mentioned company name and the duration.

VO - How long are you going to stay in the US?
Me - Gave exact dates as my tickets were already done.

VO - Have you travelled to any other country before?
Me - Yes, ABC country for my honeymoon.

VO - Asked how the country was and did I have a good time there
Me - Replied casually and asked if he has any plans for going there.
He replied saying that he has no plans as of now but have heard a lot about it.

After this he said your visa is approved!

US B2 visa rejected at Mumbai embassy last week
Hello Everyone:

I am a single Female applicant working in Pune in IT industry. My B2 visa was rejected 214(b)

VO: Good Morning
Me: Good Morning Sir

Passed my passport.
VO: Have you ever travelled abroad?
Me: No

VO: Do you know US is a costly country
Me: Yes. I am self sponsoring my visit

VO: Are you married
Me: No

VO: Do you have kids
Me: No

VO: Why do you want to go to US:
Me: To visit my friend and for tourism

(I had written my friends address in US Contact person info and filled a tentative itenarary for Dec 23 to Jan 3rd)

VO: Which places would you visit in US.

Me: San Francisco and nearby places
VO: So, you are working with xxx company?
Me: Yes

VO: What's your monthly income:
Me: xxx INR (as per DS-160)

VO: What's your job role

Me: database developer

VO: For how long are you working in your current company:
Me: 1.8yrs

VO: Where were you employed previously

Me: xxx Company

VO: What does your friend do in US

Me: He is working as xxx in xxxx company

VO: How do you know him

Me: He was my batchmate

VO: So, you have studied in the same college
Me: Yes

VO: You are not qualified this time. You can read this document.
(handed me the printed 214(b) print out)

My parents are retired 65 + and don't have a passport. I stay with them.

I have my leaves approved for Dec end-Jan, wish to reapply again very soon.in November.. Is it possible to have the visa approved the 2nd time after being rejected 1st time? This time plan to get it applied through a visa consultant

Does having a itinerary and saying I am going for tourism, booking hotels to stay increase my chances of getting visa? Or having no travel history is the reason for rejection. (I did not ask the VO. Thought I should not question him. Its incorrect)

I feel i should have shown my payslips when officer asked do you know US is a costly country.

A piece of Advice to Everyone
Hello Every one

I would like to point out one of the biggest mistake which every other applicant does in their interview. First of all you need to undrstand that when VO officer asks you Why Do You Want To Goto USA? This is normally the first question asked by them and almost everyone say's ( For Tourism and Meet Relatives) this statement is itself a controdiction and leads to you rejection. If you answer this and then no matter whatever you say your application will be rejected.

Be very clear about your purpose of your visit.. Either you are going to visit your relative or either for tourism. Both have different directions.

For example if I say i will goto visit my relatives, then i shall need a solid reason to explain why do I need to visit to them and why cant they come and visit you to your county... May be its you grandmaa or a wedding occassion or xyz... so the VO officer will lead all the questions in that direction only. and chance of your approval will be based on a single and strong reason.

If you say tourism then donot declare you will meet your relative even you have relatives and mostly ever body has and VO officer also knows but its just you donot declare and so there is no point of rejection. Your questions will be based only on your travel plans etc he will not ask about your relatives and chances of approval will be stronger.

I hope you all have understood my point and if there are any doubts or questions regarding please feel free to write regarding and suggesions.

Parents and Nephew B2 Visa Rejected
Hi All,

I am on H1B and today my parents along with my 20year old nephew went for B2 Visa Interview at US Embassy in Mumbai.

My Dad is retired and mom is house wife. Both are 65+.

We chose Hindi for Interview and during interview one translator was present.

VO asked following questions to my nephew and my parents:

Ques. to Dad

VO: Where are you going?
Dad: Answered

VO: Why are you going, who stays there?
Dad: My son stays with him family and we are going to meet them and visit tourist places.

VO: What does your son do?
Dad: Answered

VO: Who is paying for your trip?
Dad: My son

Ques. to my Nephew
VO: Who is paying for your trip?
N: My Uncle

VO: Why you Uncle paying for everyone?
N: Because he is my Uncle and my Grandparents are his parents so paying for their trip.

VO: What your father does?
N: He is a doctor

VO: Do you have any brother or sister?
N: Yes I have one younger sister.

And then VO said your visa application is rejected and returned the passports. Dad asked for the reason and they gave him one paper 214b saying that "We think you will not come back"

My Dad tried to convince them (as he gets regular pension and has properties) but they never looked at any of the documents. Even my nephew who is a student has a letter from his institute saying that he is given a break to visit his uncle. But VO didn't look at any of the document.

Now I am planning to apply for my parents only. Do you guys think If it is fine to go ahead and reapply for my parents immediately.
