B1/B2 Visa Approved!
Hi Everyone,

First of all, thanks a lot to Immihelp for this forum! I almost read 25 pages to understand the kind of questions VO ask and prepared accordingly.

I had my interview today at 10 AM in New Delhi.

Interview language: English (people who appeared before me were speaking in hindi and punjabi too!)
Length of Interview: 2-3 minutes

After almost waiting for 30 minutes, we were called for fingerprints check. Following is the discussion I had with the Visa Officer (VO).

ME: Hi! Good morning, sir.
VO: Good morning! how are you?
ME: I'm doing great! how about you?
VO: I'm doing good too. Can I have your passport?
ME: Sure.

VO: What is your purpose of travel?
ME: Told

VO: Is anyone else travelling with you?
ME: Yes! Told. (I was carrying an xerox of their approved visa)

VO: Have you traveled before this?
ME: Told

VO: What do you do for living?
ME: I am working as Xx with XX consulting firm.

VO: How many years of work experience do you have?
ME: Told

VO: Were you a student before that?
ME: Yes. I was studying in Xx

VO: How many people are there in your family?
ME: Told

VO: Your visa has been issued! You'll receive an SMS in next couple of days
ME: Thank you sir! Have a great day.

Very smooth process. Extremely helpful people and one of american girls was extremely beautiful :D

My 2 cents: Confidence and honesty is the key. Carry as many relevant documents as you can. It'll only make your comfortable and make you feel good.

Hope this helps! :)

All the best!

Visitor Visa Granted to my Parent at Kolkata Consulate (at 2nd attempt after 214B rejection)
Hi Everyone,

First of all thank you very much to Immehelp which helped me towards systematic direction for Visitor Visa.

Background: I am currently in US with L1-B visa and sponsoring my Parent. My parent's (Father - Currently Not Employed, previously Doing business, Mother- House wife) visitor visa was granted on July 30, 2014 at Kolkata Consulate at 2nd attempt. 1st attempt (Sept, 2013) was rejected under 214 B. I wanted to share the experience.

Interview was scheduled (9:30 am) in Bengali and VO was a Young man
Interview Length - 2-3 min
Language Opted - Bengali (they did not asked for any Interpreter and my parents answered in English)

Visa Officer (VO) Question Parents answer
Good Morning. Passport please. Father- Good Morning. Gave 2 passports to VO

VO:Why do you want to go to USA?
Father:To meet my son and for Tourism Purpose

VO:What is your Son doing?
Father:My son is working in YYYY company as YYY

VO: Who is playing for your Trip?
Father - My Son

VO:How many days you plan to stay over there
Father - 3 months

VO:Do you have any other children, mam?
Mother – Yes. My younger daughter is in India and studying

VO: Did your son studied in US?
Mother – No, sir

VO: Where will you stay during your stay?
Father did not here properly and he said the places wish to visit in US. Mother asked VO, if she answer the questions and replied, they will stay at our sons apartment at YYYY , State

VO: Pls show me your Son’s Passport
Father look out my DL but my mother handed over my Passport copy. (VO did not returned)

Smiled and shake hand with my father (did not say anything) and don’t returned Passport
Parent: Thank You sir

My parent thought that they were approved. Later, I found the cases went to 'Administrative processing" and after 3 working days status updated as ‘Visa Issued’

Last time my parents were in casual dressed and were bit nervous. This time they dressed well, confident and have some practice of regular interview questions. They gave all the answer confidently and honestly.

Hope, this may help someone similar to my case.
Have a wonderful day…

Got my visa after first time application
My brother works as a pilot and the plan for me to apply for the US visa with my parents was one that had been brewing for a long time. However, as they say, there are many slips between the cup and the lips. And we had to postpone our appointments twice before we could finally go for it.

I was very worried before the interview appointment as I am a 27-year-old unmarried girl and I was applying with my parents who are both retired. We don't have any close relatives in the USA either.

Our interview was scheduled for 8 AM on the 16th of July 2014 at the Mumbai consulate. We reached the consulate at 8 AM (which I admit is rather late). However, on speaking to the guards, they asked us to jump the queue. On entering the security check area, my dad had the remote car keys with him and so all three of us had to go back outside. Luckily a stranger agreed to hold on to our keys and we re-entered the consulate. To our bad luck, my dad had forgotten that he had a pen drive in his wallet and we had to go back out yet again to throw out the pen drive. Finally, it was third time lucky and we could go past security into the interview area.

After waiting for a bit, as they were sending only those who had requested for a regional language interview in, we were finally allowed into the interview section. Our fingerprints were recorded and we stood in queue for the interview. While we were observing the interview, we saw there was one VO who seemed to be rejecting a lot of people. To our luck, we were sent to him. Up close though, he was really good looking and I couldn't help grinning when I saw how cute he was!

The interview was short and sweet and went as follows:

Me: Hi, Good Morning
VO: Good Morning! Can I see your passports please?

VO: What is your purpose of travel?
Me: My brother is a pilot and he gets flight tickets, so we are planning a trip to the US and Canada later this year.

VO: Have you travelled to the US before?
Me: No, we haven't.

VO: Why did you wait till now?
Me: Well, my parents have retired and they feel this is the right time for them to travel and see the world. As for me...

The VO interuppted and said, "Your visa approved. You will get your passports in 3 days. Enjoy your trip."

And that was it. He did not ask my mum or dad a single question, neither did he take a look at a single one of our documents. The entire interview took less than 60 seconds and our passports too were ready for pick-up the same day.

The only disappointment was that I couldn't look at the VO more as he had a really gorgeous smile! :)

My sense of relief over not having any more stress over the US visa is huge. We are sorted for 10 years now.

Personally, I feel that the key was that we answered his questions confidently and without haste. Dressing well too is always a bonus.

Good luck to everyone applying. And thanks Immihelp, the information provided by your website has been invaluable! Carry on the good work.

Parents got B2 Tourist Visa in First attempt at New Delhi Embassy
Thanks Immihelp for all the knowledge which you shared on your website. My Parent’s visa got approved today in New Delhi Embassy .I told them all the sample questions and prepared the docs as per the list mentioned in the visitor docs section. Visa officer only asked verbal questions and granted them Visa , he didn't ask for any documents though.

The interview was in Punjabi so my parents felt really conformable answering the questions

Q-Where are you going
A-City/State in USA

Q-Why are you going to USA
A- For tourism and to meet our son

Q- What is your son doing in USA
A-- He is a software Engineer in YYYY company

Q-When did he go to USA
A--At this point my mother told him all the year/months for all my trips (2 in total)

Q--What do you do In India
A- Father told he is retired office and mother housewife.

Q--Do you have any other children in India
A-- Yes our Elder Son

Q--What does he do
A-- Answered accordingly

VO officer then said "All is good".

Thanks ImmiHelp
