Tourist visa
Dear visitors,

I am a teacher and a qualified cost & management accountant. Me and my mother are both qualified and running a coaching center. We are earning Rs. 60,000 from coaching center, Rs. 22,000 from our houses given on rent and my father is earning Rs. 20,000 from a real estate agency. My mother and father both retired from a bank.

Me and my mother have planned to visit WPB, Florida in April 2014. My plan is to visit interesting places in WPB like McCarthy Wild Life Sanctuary, Palm Beach Zoo, Kravis center of perorming arts, South Florida Science Center & Aquarium, etc. Though I have not applied yet, but going to apply next week.

Please give me some suggestions regarding the Visa Interview. What kind of questions can a Visa Officer ask me? I am a 37 years old male never married, but I am engaged to my cousin, who is studying now and we will going to marry as soon as she completes her graduation.

Waiting for your precious replies.

Visitor visa (B2) experience in chennai consulate @ Jan 7th , 2014
Dear Folks ,

I have read so many visa interview experience from different folks who exhibit their real life experience which has created lots of awareness to take up our interview with confidence and suggestions shared by couple of friends were been so much valuable !!

Now, i think its my turn to share my experience that would help some one reading it now !!

Interview date : Jan 7th , 2014 ( Magical day - My B2 visa got approved )
Interview time : 8:30 am
Place : Chennai consulate

After completing security check and document screening - i was given a token and was waiting to be called - when my token flashed my hearbeat started to beat fastly - the moment i met my VO (Visa Officer ) , i was really amazed with her kindness and friendly attitude which made me feel quite relaxed .

Questions asked by my VO were quite simple as follows :

1)Why am i visiting US ?
2)How long is would stay ?
3)Who will sponsor my trip ?
4)About my parents ( Ties to india)
5)About myself ie., my job details

Friends , i could see some comments that getting visitor visa for a person who is single is really tough - but thats not true as per my case ! - it varies on case to case basics . All you have to remember is, "Be confident and relax" - consider the interview just as an chat between VO and you - where VO is trying to understand your interest/need to travel to US .

Please do have good presence of mind and it will be really nice if you could keep a little smile while answering - this way you can make sure that you are not tensed .

I wish you all good luck , Hope my experience would help some one there !

There is no much time left. Im ready to apply again this week... my friend wrote a special letter telling them he is going to take care of everything. I have contract of employment.Im ready to enroll for studies.

my experience:

first time applicant for a US visa

Hyderabad consulate

about ds 160: i filled in the ds 160 first but did not sign and submit, instead took a printout as there were some fields i needed to check up to fill . Dates were one example, (studied in school when to when). then i took the printout and filled in ALL the fields at leisure, and then started a new application and then filled it, signed and submitted it.

OFC: booked for the family together, wife and 2 daughters, carried the ds 160 confirmation, the appointment confirmation ( which also had the axis bank receipt bar codes), and passports. arrived 1250 for 1300 appt, and were out by 1320. My 2 daughters aged 11 and 7 also went along, they were photographed but not finger printed.

visa interview

arrived 0800 for 0830 interview. went thru the security and were called at 0930.

Me: good morning
VO: hi how are you
(handed over passports)
VO: Have you been outside the country before
Me: yes we went to hong kong last year
VO: (checking the passports) do you have another passports withe the HK stamp?>
Me: no, they are in the passports
VO: (finding the stamps) oh yes i see
VO: what did you do in hk?
Me: Basically we went for disneyland
VO: Is that right? do they have a DL there?
Me: Yes, its the one closest from here
VO: Fair enough
VO: what is your wife's b'day (looking at her passport)
Me: Answered
VO: What do you do sir
Me: Answered
(typed into his computer)
VO: Congrats your visa is approved
Me : thanks officer, and merry Christmas.
VO: Thanks you too

Thats it, no documents checked.

b2 visa rejected
I went to the embassy in Kingston Jamaica on 20.12.13

I think I've lost hope and won't be reapplying.

Questions ask
Vo: what is the purpose of your trip?
Me: for a vacation and to visit my brother

Vo : who else do you know in us?
Me: few friends

Vo : what do you do?
Me: I'm an accounts clerk

Vo : how long you work at your present job?
Me: 6 years

Vo : your are in a common law marriage?
Me: yes sir

Then he said I'm sorry can't give u a visa today
I think its because I said I know friends there.. my question is do you think this spoil my chances
Of getting a visa..as this is entered in there system that I have friends there..even tho its not close friends but high school classmates
How soon should I re apply?

B2 visitor visa - Approved - Delhi consulate
Visa Type : B2
Status : Approved
Place : New Delhi
Duration of the interview : 3-5 minutes

My mother(alone - not accompanied by my father for this visit) went for her B2 visitor visa interview at the Delhi consulate and spent less than 5 minutes with the Visa Officer.. Below are the details -

VO : Why are you visiting the US?
Mom : I am going to visit my daughter and son-in-law. I also have my brother-in-law staying there who I will be visiting as well.

VO : Why did you choose this time of the year to visit them?
Mom : I wish to see the snow at this time of the year, and would like to visit New York to see the Rockefeller Tree and New Year ball drop.

VO : Your visa is approved. Have a safe trip.

That's it! No further questions asked. NO DOCUMENTS CHECKED. NOT EVEN A SINGLE ONE.
I had ensured that she carried all extra documents just in case they asked for it, but they didnt even ask for the basic sponsorship documents!

Hope all of you have a positive Visa experience! :)
