Visitor Visa 2nd Attempt
My moms visa was denied 1st time on Feb 8th. Now when my brother checked at American Consulate Mumbai, they are asking to pay new fees and not allowing for 2nd attempt. is that true? or should we have to apply within 30 days for 2nd attempt?

I would be highly appreciated, if somebody could reply soon..

Thank you, NIMISH

My parents got 10 year multiple entry visa from Chennai consulate at the first apperarance(Thanks a lot, Immihelp):

Here are the questions asked?

Q:Who is (sponsor's name) ?
A: daughter
Q: how many children do you have?
A: 2
Q: what does your other child do ?
A: working in India

An important thing is to not volunteer information unless the immigration officer asks for it.

Please help me to handle this situation
Hi Everybody,

My parents has visa appointment on 31st of this month. My dad is visiting USA for the first time and my mom for the second time. In her first visit (in 2000), she got to stay longer than 6 months due to her medical illness. She had to undergo a major surgery just 5 days before of her I 94 expiration time. She totally stayed for 6 months 29 days.We applied for her extension, and while her application is in process, she recovered and need to go back to India immediately for further treatment. I called to INS and cancelled her application. Since I cancelled her application, I didn't expect any letter like approval/disapparoval of the appliation form INS, but I din't even receive any sort of cancellation letter.
Unfortunately, I lost a letter from INS which confirms that it received the application.Just a letter which says it received our application and it will be in process.
Now along with all other visa required documents (I didn't get the vis approval/disapproval letter from INS and I lost the confirmation letter of the application, so these two are not included),I included all the medical bills and medical documnets and asked my mom to explain the situation when the interviewer questions about her I 797. Iam so nervesed that is this adequate or am I need to include any more documents. Is there any way, I can get the confirmation letter of my application from INS again (infact after 4 years). Do any body have any suggestions/advices how to handle this situaiton.
I'll be very thank ful for your input.

Thanks
Sai

Hi Everybody
My parents were granted 10 yr multiple entry visa at Chennai consulate at first attempt on march 9. My dad is 57 yrs of age working as asst engineer in irrigation dept of AP with one more year to retire and my mom is 51, a home maker.I am the sponsorer and prepared all the documents as per this website. I submited the application online.Only two questions were asked
1. whatis my dad's job-telugu translater was pleased to know my dad is in govt service.
2.what is my job-a bank employee

That is all. Not a single question to my mom.
Not a single piece of document, neither mine nor my dad's,was asked.
Just the application form, affidavit of support, passports and DD's were submitted.

In my view -accuracy of information in application form, online submission, telugu translater and ofcourse the confidence of my parents with a little bit of(may be a lot) of luck all added up for the ultimate success.

Thanks so much both to the website and to the participants for their helping hands.
Best of luck.

i mother's visa also got rejected on march 3rd, 2005 on 214b. The officer in chennai did not look at any documents we had sent. He asked few questions like
who is in US? (My daughter and son-in-law)
who is in India(My son and Daughter- in-law)
From long your daughter is in US (7 years)
What does your husband do?(BusinessPassed away 2 years back)
why did not u go all these years? They are inviting me now, before her in-laws had visited
These are the questions my mother answered, and he said no visa.
could you tell me what was wrong? and how we must prepare her next time?
Regards
