Parents visa rejected under 214b
My parents went to consulate on Feb 16th 2005 and a lady there rejected their VISA under 214b . My husband was sponsoring them... he is a New Zealand citizen.

These are the questions she asked......." didn't let my dad talk much......only wanted answers from my mom"..... had a telugu translator.

Who is there in america? my daughter and son-in-law
Do they have children? no...(we don't have kids)
what company does your son-in-law work for?
How many children do you have? 2 daughters.
Where is your other child? here......... where here? In Hanamkonda- A.P
what do you want to do for 3 months in US? See my daughter, son-in-law and visit places like California, Vegas........
what does your daughter do? Housewife
Can you pass the papers your son-in-law sent to you.

.......then she just flipped some documents and paused a while at my husband's passport copy...........asked who is from New Zealand? son-in-law.
then she checked bank statements and other papers we sent from here (not my passport copy) ......... didn't even look at my parents documents like their financial documents, affidavits and stuff in India.

That lady rejected 6 people out of 8 (other 2 are H4 visas)........... Other male interviewing officers were good

visa denied thrice
Hi
My parents visa was rejeceted thrice.I don't know why do they ask for papers when they don't even look at it .My parents were rejected thrice as both their daughters are here. But they do not wish to live here forever .I mean everytime you pay so much money and then they deny it which is not fair for a middleclass family .I think they are just making money and they need to be more fair and just about this process .I wish somebody could help us in this matter.

Hi,

My parents0in-law got 10 years visitor visa from calcutta US consulate on Feb 3, 2005 and my mother-in-law was asked the following questions

1. How many children you have and what are they?
2. Does your daughter who is in US have children?
3. Do you want to get US citizenship?
4. How long you are planning to stay there?
5. Who is sponsoring for your trip?
6. How many brothers and sisters you have and where are they?

Question 3 was repeated thrice during the interview. The consular officer was pleased with the documents that I sent. Arrangement of Documents matters. Finally the consular officer told that she is granting 10 years visa with multiple entry.

I thank immihelp.com for providing the information. I got all stuffs from this website.

Good luck to all

mom's visitor visa denied second attempt
My mom's visitor visa was denied first time an year ago in Feb 2004 and second time on Feb 3, 2005 under 214b at Chennai consulate. She is 62 years old, widowed and had Telugu translator. First time she was asked by officer (male): Feb 11, 2004
Who is there in america?
Who are here in India?
When did your husband died? (four years ago)
Does your son sends money to you? (no, I don't need)
She got 214b.
Second time Feb 3, 2005.
Who are there in US? (Son, daughter-in-law, two grandchildrens).
That's it officer said no visa.
My mother tried to explain her ties with village, properties. I wrote detailed letter and 10 reasons why she cannot stay in US more than 3 months, they did not bother to read the letter.
No documents were seen. No other questions asked. No reasons given. They were not polite.
We all sad, tears, depressed. I did not see my mom for two years, could not stay more than 2 weeks with her since I left high school. Donot know how to make them understand. Any suggestions, help is appreciated.

 The following Qs were asked:
My wife
1. How many children do you have and where are they?
2. Are your kids married?
3. What's the purpose of your visit and how many days will you stay in US?
4. What profession are you in ?
5. What's your pay?
Me
1. Where do you work?
2. What does your company do?
3. What'ss your pay?
4. Do you have any property?
5. Show me your son's sponsorship papers.

I must add that the interviewing officer was extremely courteous.
I also noticed that a couple of people got their visas rejected. It was clear that they were not adequately prepared for the interview. Those sponsoring their parents please note you need to put in efforts prepare them well.
Your website was of immense help for my preperation. Thanks
