I am 4th year PhD student in mechanical engineering applying for a renewal. I had to take an interview as I changed universities from my first F-1 application for an M.S program.
I suspect I was given a pink slip because I mentioned working on polymer mechanics which could be construed as materials technology in TAL as the interviewer asked if that included matrix composites.
Had to email additional documents including letter from the university, CV, publications, research abstracts, professional history, travel history and contact information.
Not sure what to expect but hoping it gets resolved soon. Mentally prepared for 3-4 weeks.

VO: Asked I797A, asked to go to other counter and comeback after looking at my I797A
Other counter : Took a photocopy of my i797 and asked to hand it over to VO
VO: Asked client letter, i797a, PP, Client loc, employer loc, Salary, mentioned there's an issue with my I797A and asked if the other counter fixed the issue.
I mentioned they asked me to give this photocopy .
VO gave me 221g (with second option ticked your application requires admin processing before decision can be made) saying somethings up with the system and there's an issue with my I797A
VO retuned PP, I797A original, photocopy, clinet letter and asked to expect an email for a PP submission
did anyone faced similar ? issue with I797A

Could someone please tell me what the message is after you send these people the documents? The message they sent me has no mention of 'confirmation' or 'acknowledgement' or any damn mention of them actually receiving the documents.

6/19: documents submitted the same day by evening. Status : AP last updated date: 6/19
7/24: no change in status or last updated date yet. Tried to connect with help desk via email and phone, got the standard reply to wait
9/16: got an update in response to the inquiry to ustraveldocs that they sent me an email to submit passport. However I didn't get any email. Called the help desk and she told me to go with the email (which I got in response of my inquiry) and submit the passport.
9/16: Passport submitted. Waiting for a positive reply. It took almost three months
9/17: No change in status or update date on ceac status check portal. Still shows "Administrative Processing" with status date 6/19

Doctor already working in the US x 1 yr on approved cap exempt H1b - Previously completed education on J1 currently doing my J1 waiver on H1b. Basic questions asked, no major hassles - asked for J1 waiver certificate which I showed - still ended up with blue slip with no explanation.
