Business Visa - B1

Here is my experience on 25th April at Chennai location.

Officer: Where are you going?
Me: To my client place which is xxx at xxx, Illinois. (wanted to mention my client name initially - it is famous in US)

Officer: Can you tell me about your trip?
Me: I will be attending meetings with user and IT team for requirement study of xxx project (exact word)

Officer: You are working for yyy, hmm how long you are working for this company
Me: 3 Yr and 11 Months

Office: how long you will be stay there
Me: 3 weeks

After 30 sec, golden words 'VISA Approved' then I said thank you and run away.

That was cool but be prepare for all basic questions. All the best.

Before the interview, I was searching for questions for this particular type of visa. I could not find it at first 10 threads.
Here I'm, posting it myself after my interview.

The scrutiny is more than normal for this particular type of visa. I was standing in front of Consulate for 20-25 mins!

Me: Hello, Good morning
C: Very good, How are you?
Me: Good

C: So you're from *Company name*
Me: Yes sir

C: Explain ur purpose of visit
Me: To "execute" ........., to attend ..... meetings and audits (I used the word "Execute" deliberately)

C: PLease the repeat whatever u told along the same phrases.
Me: I said "To execute" but just stopped right there and told him that I know I'm not supposed to do any type of work under B1, I have a letter for you which I would like to share (You got to have an strong invitation letter for this type of visa, I mean it when I say "Strong" )
C: Please pass it
I passed it.
C: so it is for "in lieu" then?
Me: Yes
C: read the complete letter and said "With all this technical terms, it seems way too complicated for me. Please explain it in ur own words. "
As I was explaining, he kept cross-verifying it with the letter and also entered few things into the system
C: I got to talk to my manager, please wait here for few mins.

After 8-10 long minutes, he came back and asked my experience, to whom I'll be working for(You are supposed to be working for ur own company for this visa), who will borne my expenses, and salary. Went back again for 2-3 mins.

Asked me about why is it critical for me to be there.
Finally he said, he will give me a B1 with an annotation "in lieu of H" with company name written at the bottom. Valid for 3 months.

I appeared my B1 visa interview on(18th april 2016). I was very much confident about the interview.

But i found it as a very bad and unforgettable experience in my whole life.

So, I thought to share the exp it might be helpful to someone.

Below is my visa interview exp.

The worst thing is its in NEW DELHI and the visa officer WHOLE conversation with me was in HINDI.
But i dressed up in professional way and kept eye contact and was very confident.

Answered everything in ENGLISH.

No reply from the VO.

VO- passport?
Me- here it is mam.

VO- Do you have any friends relatives??
Me- No

VO- How long are you working with the present company??
Me- my overall exp is 6years and from last 1year 3months i am working in XYZ company.

VO- What is your role??
Me- Managing director

VO- Have you traveled any other county??
Me- yes

VO- where?
Me- AUS, UAE, BNK

VO- Australia y??
Me- on tourist visa

VO- What is the salary??
Me- answered

simply she was typing something in system and gave 214b form. APKA VISA IS BAAR APPROVE NAHI HO PAYEGA.

Suggestion: just be confident always we have 2nd option to re-apply and mostly depends on luck and the VO mood.

A Big Thanks to this forum. I appeared Visa Interview today(22nd April 2016). I was bit nervous coz I had around 4 to 5 rounds of mock in my company.

But then I found this immihelp forum and got relaxed and got confidence by reading all experiences.

So thought to share my experience too, It might help someone.

My Biometric was yesterday(21st April 2016) went smooth. was scheduled 10:15 AM. but I reached early so biometric done and came out at 10:10 AM :)

Below is my Visa Interview experience.

VO : Give me Passport ( Male around 30-35 age)

Me : Handed over

VO : Have you been to US

me : Yes

VO; he was busy typing couldn't heard properly mumbled something

me : Pardon please

VO : (again) Have you been to US

me : Yes I have been to US

VO : when ?

me : said the year

VO : On which type of visa

me : H1B

VO : what did you do there

me : I worked there

VO : SO you are going again with ZZZ( my previous company name)

me : No. I have changed my Employer.

VO : Who is now

me : Its said the current employer name

Then he asked that question I was waiting for

VO : Why do you want to go now

me : to participate in business meeting and discussion with client.(Exact word from invitation letter)

VO : why you only

me : we are 5 person team, I am the senior most having very good technical expertise in bla bla technologies which is prime requirement this project.

VO : Your Total Yrs Exp.

me : 12 yrs

VO : Are you married.

me : Yes

VO : do you have property here

me : Yes ( said property type)

then heard those golden work " Visa is approved" Have nice time.

me : Thanks you very much.... Left the counter

Suggestion : Just be confident while answering

ME: No, I work for ABC.

VO: What is that? Can you explain.
Me: Explained

VO: What is your designation?
Me: Senior Engineer/Team Lead

VO: ok, How many years you have been working with this company?
ME: 7 years

VO: Have you traveled outside your country before?
Me: Yes

VO: Where?
Me: 1,2,3,4,5,6

VO: When did you go to Swiss?
Me: 2015

VO started typing in the system for few seconds and then comes the most awaited words: I have issued your visa. Enjoy your Trip

Me: Thank you so much

Wanted to know the convincing answer for the below questions.

1. what should I answer to VO. (As I am visiting US for the training of new application on which I will be working from India)

2. How will I make sure that I will be coming back to India. (I am not married but I have my parents here)

I got a Visa for 10 years. picked up after 3 days of my interview.
 
Key point is confidence and truth. never tell lie and maintain eye contact while answering .

Hello All. We had scheduled for B1 visa for 3 people from our company.
Thanks a lot to immihelp and folks who posted with their experinces. Below is our expeiences.

Person 1: (Visa officer was Male, around 40's)

Me: Hi der! Good Morning! (With high energy)

VO: Good Morning! How are you?
Me: I am doing good. How about you? (With smile)

VO: I doing well! Your passport please.
Me: Sure. (Handed over the passport)

VO: Why do you want to go to US?
Me: To attend business meeting and knowledge enhancement (Used exact words as mentioned in other experiences)

VO: What is your designation in current organization?
Me: Team Lead- Business Intelligence

VO: What is the purpose of your visit?
Me: To attend business meeting as I have .. (VO interupted)

VO: For Business meeting you might have some schedule?
Me: Yes I do. (It was kept somewhere in between the file, took 8-10 seconds to spot it). VO was looking at me and informed "Here it is!" Handed over the sheets.

VO: Asked few questions from the scheduled agenda on the topics
Me: Answered them and added implementing the same on my return to India opertions and Indian clients (This was conviencing point I believe)

VO: Is there anyone else travelling with you?
Me: Yes, two more and they are from different departments

VO: Which place are you visiting? (As I was about to answer) Is it to company headquaters?
Me: Yes, to company HQ located in YYYY , YY State.

VO: How long is your trip?
Me: 4 weeks

VO: Typed for a minute (Heartbeat was rising, but I had smile and eye-to-eye contact)

VO: Your visa is approved !
Me: Thank you (With big smile)

Overall took a 45 mins in queue for 2 minutes of interview. During the interview had my both hands placed on the table with hand gestures while answering, eye to eye contact. File was kept at the corner of the table. Speaker sound was clear and was able to communicate easily.

P2 :A very Good morning mam!

P2 :How are you doing mam?
VO :I am doing good! Thank you!

VO :Passport please?
P2 :Sure mam!

VO :What is the reason you are going to U.S.?
P2 :Business meeting and knowledge enhancement (Use the same exact words).

VO :What do you do in your company?
P2 :I am team lead and leading a team of 8 members.

VO: For what process you are team lead?
P2: Explained her about my process.

VO :Oh! you are a team lead?
P2 :Yes mam.

VO :Your current experience?
P2 :YYYY years and YYYY months (Inform exact duration)

VO :NEXT QUESTION? (Could not listen to her clearly)
P2 :Sorry mam if you could please repeat it.

COULD NOT LISTEN TO HER CLEARLY SECOND TIME AS WELL. HENCE REQUESTED TO REPEAT AGAIN.

VO :To which company did you work previously?
P2 :ZZZ company

VO :Is this meeting with internal employees or clients?
P2 :It is scheduled for internal employees only.

VO :May I see your invite letter?
P2 :Sure mam! (Handed her the invite letter received from U.S. office)

VO: How many of you are travelling to U.S.?
P2: Said 3 of us are travelling from different departments. (Be genuine on the number of collegues coming along with you).

VO :Oh ok! You will be staying there for 4 weeks?
P2 :Yes mam!

VO :Where are you going in U.S.?
P2 :ZZZ location, YYY state..

VO: RETURNED THE INVITE LETTER AND SHE SAID "THANK YOU". "YOUR VISA IS ISSUED".
P2: Thank you very much mam! :)

P3 : Yes Mam! (Smiled)

P3 : Sure (Passed the invite letter)

VO : Are you from the same team? (Compared to Person 2)
P3 : No

VO : Where will you stay?
P3 : YYYY City, YY state

VO : You Visa is issued. Have a great trip.
