Tips require for B1 interview
I am preparing for my upcoming US b1 visa interview. Here are my prepared answers

Ans. My client is implementing the virtualization technology at their datacenter and I am going there to perform the configuration & setup of the Virtualization devices as per the client requirement.

Q2. Where are you travelling in the US ?
Ans. I am travelling to California.

Q3. Why you are chosen?
Ans. I have the technical expertise and more than 8 years of experience in Virtualization technology.

Q4. Why 1 Week only?
Ans. Because the initial setup of the virtualization boxes require physical presence at the datacenter and post that configuration devices will be managed via remotely from India.

Q5. Why Can't you do it from here?

Q6. How long you are associated with the current company.
Ans. I am associated with this company from last 10 months and I have a total of 8 years of experience.

Q7. Since you have less experience in your current company why the company has chosen you?
Ans. Since I have worked for US client in past as well and I have 8 years of experience of virtualization so my client has chosen me to come there and perform the Virtualization setup work.

I don't have any travel history? My monthly salary is around 1 lac/annum.

B1 Visa approved in the 2nd attempt at hyderabad
Hi All,

I have applied for Visa in Aug 2018 but it was rejected and applied again in oct2019 and got approved.

Visa Experience in 1st attempt:
VO: Why are you going to CA?
Me: I have to attend training ......(there was some gap while telling due to nervous and the VO made her eyes big and looked me) on the new technology which is going to implement in our company

VO: Whats your salary?
Me: YYYY /month

VO: Experience?
Me: 6Yrs

VO: How long you are going to visit?
Me: 2 weeks

VO: Sorry we cant approve your visa this time

REJECTED.

----------------------------
i Have changed my company in Apr2019 and client requested to keep B1 visa ready. So applied for the second time and attended the interview on 22/Oct/2019 and it got approved this time

VO: So, your are from YYYY company
Me: Yes Mam

VO: Whats ur designation
Me: Im a programmer analyst

VO: How long you are going to stay
Me: For 2 Weeks

VO: Why are you going?
Me: (in bit of nervous, i said) Im going to attend the B1 meetings (then VO said you are already going on B1 visa) sorry mam, Im going to attend the Business meetings

VO: What kind of meeting?
Me: Our customer is going to have new HR system on to the current HR application and we will be discussing the solution approach and propose the plan in the business meetings?

VO: Why you want to be there?
Me: Users will be coming from all over the regions and it goes in PST timezone and they need my presence

VO: why u want to integrate HR application
Me: (I didnt understand the question, so i have asked Can you please repeat it again)
we are going to New modules like self service of emp and manager into the existing one

VO: Who is ur customer
Me; YYYY company

VO; Whats ur salary?
Me: YYYY L /annum

VO: whats ur salary in 2018 (as i have attended visa interview in 2018)
Me: (monthly salary i said in annual) 50k/annum sorry mam its 50k/month

VO: how long you are working with this company
Me: almost 7 months

after few seconds i said im supporting same customer from 4 years. i just changed the company 7months back

here are the platinum words from VO

OK.. Your Visa is approved.

Note: as i made few mistakes while telling the salary and purpose of visit. VO would have thought it was due to nervous.
it depends on the understanding of the VO. May be if some other VO would be there she/he would have rejected- i think so.
i thought it would reject this time also as i said few mistakes, but luckily it got approved.

just be confident with your answers and tell what you have filled in your ds160
Dont feel it as interview. Think like some one is asking why ur going/how long and all those and answer casually.

Thanks

Regarding interview
Hello Experts,

I've Bio/finger prints interview on Friday and VO on Monday. Please see below questions.

A) If VO ask me what Visa i applied do i need to say B1 OR B2. In DS160 I have added B1/B2 Visa
B) Since i've been perform well this year my company invited me onsite for award ceremony. Also, in my invitation letter my employer added business meetings and Annual Holiday Party. Can i say the same thing i'm going to annual holiday party because i;m performing well ?

Rejected Twice.
Hi BLADI,

My VISA has been rejected twice for now and I have given my experience in other post. This time my agenda is very clear for new project I am going to onsite to meet different business vendors and stakeholders for further discussions on upcoming project .

How can I prove myself like I am not a potential immigrant and my business trip is very important to my client as well as my employer as I am only having much experience with same client.

Can I reapply again as its very important travel for me and employer or again they reject.... how much time I need to wait to reapply again without any impact of previous rejection.

If I reapply now how can I convince like I am not a potential immigrant and my intention is very clear and I have invitation letter and clear agenda and all ties in here again to come back

Thanks in advance and appreciate your response.

Thanks

B1 Visa for a newly hired employee
Hi all,

This forum was helpful. I am thankful to all the people who posted their experiences and all those experts who have guided the applicants.

This is my case. I am
1. First time applicant for B1 visa
2. Doctor by profession with 6yrs of work experience
3. Experience with current company: 4 months only (I am hired by my current employer for
this project because I have specific skill-set)
4. Purpose of travel: Knowledge acquisition and knowledge transfer from the client related to the project - "Business meeting and discussions as per Invite letter from my Employer"
5. Duration of travel- 4 weeks
6. Never been to any-other country before

8. Designation: Team Lead
9. Married but living separately (not divorced or filed for divorce) and have a 4 yr old daughter living with me and studying UKG

Greetings from me and VO responded politely.

A. Yes, I have a 4 yrs. old daughter and I am living with my parents, who are dependent on me.

Outcome: Maam, your Visa is approved.

I wore my company ID card. No documents were asked for or verified.

My suggestions:
I am a first time applicant, new to my company, and never traveled before. There were so many opinions about my VISA application from friends, colleagues and family. Just be confident (not over confident), dress up decently, speak politely, answer to the point, and dont be nervous (VISA denial is not the end of the world - keep that attitude). If your qualification, experience and purpose are in sync, I think it should work out. All the best !

B1 Visa
I am penning down my experience as few of the experiences in this community has helped me shape and articulate my responses. So this was my 2nd B1 application in a span of 10 months. So I can add in both my experiences.

Jan 2019: I has joined my company on 2nd of Jan and was asked to attend an annual event in end of January so I had to get my visa sorted ASAP. I could get an appointment only at the Delhi embassy due to the time constraint.

VO: Whats the purpose of your visit?
Me: I am invited to attend our company's annual sales kick off in New Orleans.

VO: Is this your first time to the US?
Me: Yes

VO: When did you join the company?
Me: 2nd of Jan, 2019

VO: What is your salary?
Me xxx per month

VO: You said you are a product manager?
Me: Yes, Senior Product Manager

VO: Have you traveled for business before?
Me: No

VO: You are not eligible for a non-immigrant Visa this time, if you company asks for a reason please show this slip.

16th October,2019: Mumbai Consulate

VO: So, why are you visiting the US?
Me: I will be visiting my company headquarters in Naples, Florida. I have been invited by my human resources team to attend a development training program. I will also be attending internal meetings with business stakeholders and the leadership team based out of the headquarters.

VO: What's your designation?
Me: Senior Product Manager

VO: How many people report into you?
Me: I don't have a team reporting into me but I have a regional role and manage multiple markets like South Asia, ASEAN and the Middle East.

VO: Are you married?
Me: Yes

VO: Where is your husband based and what does he do?
Me: He is based out of Mumbai and works in a Private bank

VO: Does he have a US visa OR has he applied for one?
Me: No for both

VO: Does he intend to apply for a US visa?
Me: Not in the near future

VO: I see you applied for a B1 in Jan?
Me: Yes, I was invited to attend my company annual kick off in the end of Jan 2019

VO: And that was just a few days after you had joined?
Me: Yes, coincidentally the kick off was around the time I had joined so I was asked to attend the same

VO: You said you are going for training? Do you have a letter? Can you show that?
Me: Yes please

VO: (He scans through the letter, word by word).. Can you wait a moment, I'll be right back! (I could see walk off and enter a cabin and sit down, it was visible from where I was standing and after 3-4 minutes, he returns back with my passport and the invitation letter)

VO: What's your designation again?
Me: Senior Product Manager

VO: So your company is into financial payment transfer and related technology?
Me: Yes

After typing for 2-3 minutes, he looks up

VO: Your visa is approved. You will get a notification once your passport is ready for collection. Have a great day.
Me: Thank you so much. Have a great day ahead.

I agree to the fact somebody mentioned below, the experience is unique for every case and the decision takes into account a number of factors pertaining to that particular case. Hope this helps!

B1/B2 Visa experience Mumbai
Had my Visa interview today scheduled for 8:45 but it started at around 9:30. The queues were extremely long but coming before time won't be of any use since they don't allow you to enter early.

VO : Why are you visiting USA?
Me : To meet with Google and YouTube teams and give them feedback on various products and services.

VO: Do you have an invite letter?
Me : Yes! (Handed over the letter)

VO: Will google be paying you for this?
Me: No sir. They will only cover my travel and stay expenses.

VO: How much do you make monthly?
Me: xxx

VO : Thank You sir! Your Visa is approved.
Me: Thank you! Have a nice day!

I have been reading experiences on this website for months and honestly, it makes everything sound much more scary than it actually is. Your dress code, fluency, or your perfume DOES NOT MATTER. The case for everyone is unique and everyone is judged differently. There are no set guidelines for approval.
