How long to receive SSN card after applying?
RD August 7
Married to usc NBC

Guys I received my EAD today (they sent it to the wrong address but I tracked it and got it from the mailman) and went to apply for SSN as they told me I should go do it myself.

Has anyone else applied on their own? And how long did it take to get the card. They told me within two weeks.

Also I have a job offer can I start working without the SSN?

L2 EAD be applied before L2 approved
Hi all,

Can I apply for L2 EAD while l2 extension is in progress and l1 is approved. Below are my questions,

1. Can I keep covering letter stating my receipt number of l2 receipt number?
2. Do I need to send the petition copy of l2 approval after getting approved.
3. If so how do I send them?
4. Will I receive RFE if I didn’t send approval copy of my petition before my application is processed.

Kindly answer my questions. Thank you

EAD Expedited through Congressman
How long does it usually take to get a decision from USCIS if I expedite through my Congressman? It's been a week and I haven't heard anything from the Congressman's office nor USCIS. Very anxious...

SSN CARD
Hello all,

Questions about SSN card I got received my EAD cars on Monday and today I called SSA to check up if there was an application for my SSN card but they basically said that I have to go to the Ss office and apply for one.

Is this true or should I just wait for the card.

Any advice.

Thanks in advance.

60 days?
Hey guys, just spoke to a tier 2 officer who told me I should be hearing something within 60 days... I don’t mean to be always negative but that sounded like an estimate straight out of their processing times online... which I’m way past anyway (May 13 RD). I remember seeing posts on here a while back with the same information.
Is that just a load of BS? Because the “we’ll respond within 30 days to your service request” certainly was. It just left me with the feeling that they just say that to get rid of you on the phone. Thoughts?

USCIS forgot to request SSN
Hi everyone,

Heads up guys.

In the past I read on this very forum a person posted that even tho they had requested USCIS to get them a SSN (meaning they ticked the box in the application that asked if they wanted a SSN be issued at the same time as the EAD) USCIS never actually did it.

I had this in the back of my mind when i got my EAD (last week) so I went to a Social Security Administration office and asked them when I was going to get my SSN (since I also ticked the box on the form requesting USCIS to get me a SSN) they said that there was no request in the system at all.

I had to request a SSN right there and then and it will take another 2 -3 weeks to be delivered.

My advise to all of you is, as soon as you get your EAD card in your hands go to a Social security Administration office and ask them about your SSN.

Best of luck to you all

RFE (RD: May 28, 2019)
After raising a SR in early December for my case being outside processing times, on December 30 I saw that an RFE was issued on my main I-485 application.
I never received it in the mail. The case status page advises to contact USCIS if I do not receive the notice by January 14, so yesterday I requested another copy of RFE to be sent.
I am now waiting. I hope I won't miss the RFE deadline.
I don't work with a lawyer, but I checked my application perhaps 10 times to verify if everything was complete and impeccable. On my case status it says "request for initial evidence" so it means that USCIS believes a required documentation is missing from the application ? It takes 7 months for them to realize this, not in the summer ? This is ridiculous.
I also heard that sometimes they ask again for a documentation that was already included in the application in the first place ? Especially if they see that you are not working with a lawyer ?

Once the paperwork that is required by the RFE is sent, how long does it take for USCIS to process it and make a decision ? Is it necessarily another 2-3 months ? Or can it be one last double check before they approve the permit ? Is it also related to what RFE is about ?

Finally a good news!
Got the update that a new card is being produced.
Receipt date 7/29 and Biometrics 8/21. Married to LPR.

For all who are waiting, hang in there, it's coming.

Can anyone tell how long it takes for card to be in hand after this update?
