EAD Approved
Hi all, this forum has been very helpful to me and now it's time for me to give back.
So here is goes:

Got married on 12/23/2016 to my girlfriend/fiancè of 5 years.
Filed for I-485, I-765, I-130, I-131 on 02/27/2017.
Received by USCIS(Chicago, IL office) on 03/03/2017.
Received Biometric notice on 03/17/2017.
Biometrics appointment on 03/31/2017.
Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview on 04/10/2017.
EAD card is approved on 05/30/2017.
Card is sent to me via mail on 06/01/2017.

One hell of a wait just for EAD.
Please note that I was on H1B while we filed for my GC.

I hope this helps, especially with the "expected timeline" to receive EAD. I literally received this almost on the 90th day after file was received.

Thanks,
Mehul.

EAD card lost in mail and replacement
Hi everyone,

I just want to share my experience with this infamous EAD card and give some advice for future applicants:

* On June 27th, I applied for a new EAD Card
* On February 5th, I received the I-797 Notice of action (receipt from USCIS)
* On March 9th, my card was mailed to me according to the USCIS website
* 2 weeks later, still no EAD or approval notice in the mailbox
* I decided to call the USCIS to get the tracking number which they did. The USPS website says that the package was delivered on March 13th at 4 pm. But there was no package in the mail box whatsoever.
* I called the USPS to start an investigation for missing package, but no result. They denied any wrong doing and insisted that the package was delivered and therefore they concluded that the package was stolen ( which is very unlikely).
* On March 28th, I called the USCIS to request a new card. An immigration officer mentioned that the card will be mailed within 30 days along with the approval notice of the old lost card.
* On April 4th, I received the approval notice but no EAD card.
* On April 13th, I called again the USCIS to check the status of my new EAD card. To my surprise, they said that there is no such thing as sending a new card and I have to reapply again (send the original documents and pay the fee $410 and wait three more months). I tried to convince them that it is not my fault and that the USPS messed up the delivery but they insisted that they can't do anything and I have to reapply again.
* On April 22nd, I sent my new application with the check.
* On May 3rd, I received the I-797 for the new EAD Card. As soon as I received the receipt notice I contacted my local congressman to ask the USCIS to expedite my case. I gave a copy of my new I-797, approval notice of the old card and a job offer letter.
* A week later, the congressman office sent an email saying that my case has been expedited and I should receive the new card within 30 days.
* On May 30th, my card was mailed to me according to the USCIS website but there was no tracking number. I called the USCIS to ask for tracking number but they said I have to wait 3 days. Fortunately, I found the tracking number on MyUSPS at the USPS website ( you have to create an account in order to track all the mails coming to your address)
* On June 1st, I finally received my new EAD card (I went to the local post office to pick it up).

One advice to EAD applicants: Do no waste you time calling the USCIS asking for a replacement, they won't do it if the USPS says it is delivered. Reapply again as soon as you can and contact your local congressman as soon as you receive the receipt notice. To minimize the loss of the card during shipment, go pick it up at your local post office as soon as it arrives.

It drives me nuts knowing that this whole mess could be avoided by simply requesting a signature of of the EAD package when it arrives to destination (USCIS don't even bother to do that).

I hope this mess won't happen to anyone, if it happens at least you have some tips here to guide you through it.

I756 uscis tier2
I saw on the posts that many people asked to talk to tier 2. One explanation, how can I speak at a higher level if it is related to it. Considering that when I call the number I go to 1 222, and every time I get different information. Thank you

In doubt
Hey, I just got my combo card last saturday and I really just wanna go to.the valley of Texas. Has anyone traveled using the card at the checkpoint? I know it can be used as a travel permit but I have been reading that CBP can deny you the entrance to USA and that's why I don't want to leave the country, not even with the AP in my hands. Thank you.

Started all over again.
I'm adjusting my status under eligibility category c09, so here is my timeline

03/13/2017: all forms were accepted
03/17/2017: biometrics fee accepted
03/25/2017: ASC appointment notice
04/03/2017: request for initial evidence for Form I-485
04/11/2017: biometrics appointment / done
04/17/2017: received response to Request for Evidence

Today is day 78 and I called USCIS to see if I was able to get a service request for my EAD but they told me my case stopped the day they request initial evidence, and started all over again the date they got my new document (which was a translation of my birth certificate).
When there's an additional evidence, the cases get suspended and then keep going.

My heart broke when I heard that needed to keep waiting for who knows for how long, probably in a month I will call again. The struggle is so real, specially when you are running out of money.

Good luck everyone, stay strong!

EAD Renew time frame
Hello everyone,

This forum has been my best friend every since my waiting time became overwhelming so I would like to share my case. Here is my expirance with EAD renew:

Feb 13 - PD uscis received my form 765.
Mar 20 - that was my biometric schedule day.
May 5 - raized my first SR as my case was on day number 76.
May 17 - called uscis customer service again and tried to raise another SR as my case was pass normal processing time (90 days) but the rep that was helping me told me that I could not raise a request because it wasn't 30 from the time that I raised my first SR. I wasn't very happy with his not so much help but what can we do, I figure let the wait continue. They assigned my first SR to an officer but I never got a response from my SR.
May 19 - I received a email stating that new card was in production.
May 22 - received a email stating that case was approved.
May 25 - received a email stating that they mailed my new card.
May 27 - received my card in the mail (priority letter so it did not arrive with the regular mail, came after my regular mail lady delivered all my bills and junk mail).

I hope this help some of you get a basic idea about how your case my go. I wish everyone good luck and hope that you do t have to wait for long. According to my calculation I received my card in hands on day 98.

EAD Renewal In 42 Days
Hey guys I promised myself that If I got my EAD before the expiration of my first card. I will share my experience with you guys, so here is my experience:

March 4th,: Application mailed to USCIS Vermont by USPS

March 9th: I got informed by text, and E-mail that application has been submitted and I also
Received the receipt number for my case.

March 17th: I received a letter from USCIS with the updated info. as my last name needs to be
updated and I have called them for that.

April 7th: I received a mail confirming that They have approved my renewal, and I will receive it in
                 next mail

April 12th: USCIS mailed me my EAD card

April 14th: I received my renewed EAD card, and I received it on the same till when my last card was valid.

I read so many reviews about EAD before filling it and I found out that I have to take care of following things:

1. Apply by mail - I don't whether it makes some difference or not, but looking at n number of reviews, I found out that people who filed by mail instead of electonically got their EAD really fast.
The other benefit is you don't have to go for biometrics which otherwise surely would delay the process.

2. I had enclosed the following documents in support of my renewal application for EAD:

- Completed form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization
- Form G-1145 (eNotification)
- Copy of I-797C, Notice of Action, receipt of filing I-485
- Copy of previously approved Employment Authorization Card (Front)
- Copy of previously approved Employment Authorization Card (Back)
- Previously approved EAD mailer information and approval notice
- 2 color photographs (A# lightly printed in the back)
- Copy of I-94 arrival/departure card
- Copy of driver's license
- Copy of passport's biographic pages

I am sure this really helped the office to expedite the process as he/she can find all the information along with the supported documents.

I hope this is something helpful for you guys and all the best!!
