10/2017 - We accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status. Our Texas Service Center location is working on your case.

Experience with the I-485 Interview:

Arrive with spouse for the interview on the day, waited 30 minutes to go in but only ask me (Principal applicant) to go in because did not have my spouse file.

In and out of the interview within 10 minutes. Name and ID check, Yes/No Questions and for medical report (I-963). Did not ask for anything else. No approval on the spot, I guessed she wan't in great mood or felt the IO just want to get out of the office. Was told to hear from USCIS in 2 weeks (which didn't happen). I guessed it was retrogression then.

Update:

Made several calls to the USCIS hotline in Sept and Oct for my spouse pending case and the IO mentioned all normal and just wait.

Fast forward to 12/18/2018

Went for a 12/18/2018 infopass on the my spouse case which is stuck on status for 04/2018 Biometrics Completed. Had not receive interview notice.

The IO at the windows told me my spouse file is already in National Records Center (NRC), read carefully not NBC (National Benefits Center). She mumbled herself saying something like "a mistake" etc and apologetics and said she will request for my spouse file to be transferred back to SNA field office for processing. Does anyone has similar experience on this? I guessed if your case pending too long, go get an infopass to check, your pending I-485 might have been mishandled and sent to NRC for storage for good. So it's pretty unheard of but my spouse pending I-485 file was stored away in NRC. (That's NRC!, not NBC)

Other issues:

The category printed on my green card was wrong. Supposedly it should be E18 for EB1C Adjustment but instead I got one with E10 (Child of a priority worker). so you got to check if this info is also correct. (Rookie mistake?)
So need to file I-90 to get new green card and possibly an I-551 for now.

Booking your Infopass online will be a thing of the past beginning from Jan 2019 (sometimes in Jan, don't know the exact date). So you can't book your infopass yourself anymore, you have to get and convinced the IO on the phone to help you if he/she thinks you are worthy of an infopass at the local field office.

Overall Experience so far:

It's messy process as you can see from my experience full of simple and rookie mistakes everywhere and depending on the your "LUCK", I guessed.

So, good luck !

EB2 Case
Hi there,

My wife and I have pending I-485 cases with USCIS. I'm the primary applicant and my wife is my dependent. We have both received our EAD/AP combo cards back in July.
Last week I received a notice from USCIS saying that my interview has been scheduled for 01/10/2019. The weird thing is my wife has not received any interview appointment as of right now and her online status hasn't even changed. I'm wondering if anyone here has had a similar experience.

Thanks and happy holidays! :)

P.S,: here's our timeline:

I-140, I-485, I-765, I-131 Sent: May 2018
Biometrics Appointment: Jun 2018
EAD/AP Card Received: Jul 2018
Interview Scheduled on: Dec 2018

Delay in case online search
Hi everyone,

First, I'd like to thank each and every one of you for sharing a wide range of information. This forum has been a great help during these stressful times. I'm in the EB2 process and I had my interview on Monday (12/17). To my surprise, at the end of the interview, the officer did not give me any documentation that communicates the interview decision. The officer only told me that he will review the case and I will hear the outcome by mail. My online case status is still "interview was scheduled". Should I be worried? Does anyone else have a similar recent experience? Thanks!

EB2 - ROW
Hi everyone,

I have a quick question for those who have received their green cards.

I was wondering if the card is mailed directly to the lawyer or the applicant ? I need to get the card asap so that I can travel.

Thanks in advance.

Question about Form I-864 (Employment-based)
Silent reader of the forum. Thanks for so many folks sharing their experience, which I benefit a lot from.

I'm under EB-1A and recently received the initial interview notice. On the list, they ask for "A completed Affidavit(s) of Support (Form I-864) with all required evidence,"

It's the first time that I ever heard of Form I-864. After looking it up and searching online, the form seems mainly for Family-based adjust of status.

Any input or experience on this? Should I print it out and get it filled for both my wife and myself just in cases? Thanks!

I hope everyone has a smooth and successful journey, and get your green card!

Interview experience
Los Angeles, CA field office

Arrived at 1355. Appointment time 1415.
Went through security and proceed up to 8th floor. There were probably 20-30 people in the waiting area.
I checked in at booth number 1 and the lady asked me for my appointment letter. She then told me to sit and wait for my name to be called out.
An older Caucasian gentlemen called my name at 1417.

First thing he asked is whether I have any documents that I would like to submit. I gave him my I-693 Medicals, corrected I-94 and change of address confirmation. And he asked again if there was anything else, I was kind of nervous and then told him that I do not need to submit a Supplement-J since we did a combo application I-140 and I-485. He said that's correct and I gave him an employment verification letter that my lawyer previously advised me to obtain from HR before the interview. He asked for a photo ID and I gave him my driver’s license and current passport. IO then left the room to make photocopies.

He came back to the room and proceed to take a picture, fingerprints (left index and right index) and then asked me to sign a waiver for attorney not being present.

Verify name, date of birth, and current address
1. Give 2 examples of my responsibility at my workplace
2. Last entry to the US and where I came from
3. Random yes/no questions from the I-485 form
4. How did I hear about this job and why did I decide to switch jobs
5. Why I think the company decided to hire me
6. My first ever entry to the US
7. How long have I been living in the US

IO did not ask me for any documents except those that I submitted at the beginning of the interview.

Overall the IO was very nice and throughout the interview he was typing away on his computer and so there was a lot of moment where it was just dead silent. He told me the interview was coming to end and that he will be approving this case. As the interview concludes, I had to sign a paper saying that the interview is complete. He then typed up the approval letter with my updated address, print, stamped, signed and handed me a copy. He then told me I am officially an permanent resident of the USA etc. and that I should be receiving the card in the mail in about 2-3 weeks. He stood up and congratulated me with a handshake. Interview was about an hour long.

As I walked out of the building, I got a text saying that my case was updated to "Card being produced"
