Baltimore - Interview Experience
Hi guys,

Thank you for sharing your interview experiences. This forum is being very helpful throughout my visa journey. Now it is finally my time to contribute back.

Type: EBC1
Priority date: Aug/2017 (not current at the time of the interview)
I-140 approved in Jul/2018
Recently switched jobs (AC21)
Interview Notice: 10/18/2018
Interview Date: 11/27/2018 12:15
IO called my name at 12:40
Time spent on the interview: ~ 40 min
Field Office: Baltimore

IO called on my name. IO was very polite and welcoming. She apologized for the delay (25 minutes).

Took an oath, pictures, and biometrics for my wife (dependent) and I (primary). Then started confirming the application forms, mainly I-485.

I’ve recently switched jobs to a similar one, I brought in a copy of the submitted Supplement J, but she didn’t requested it, she only asked me what I do and what the company does, but not in details. I briefly explained my new job and said that it is similar to my previous e job.

We prepared all the documents for the interview and brought copies of all documents. IO was very pleased that we brought copies, so that, she didn’t have to take any.

Marriage and birth certificates need to be translated to English by an official translator. Translate them in advance, since the delivery may take a few days.

Also, try to get your IRS transcript in advance, I couldn’t get mine here https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript, but luckily my wife could and since we filed it jointly, we could get the transcripts through her login. In case you can’t log in like me, you can ask the IRS to mail you, but it might take a couple of days.

We handed over: EADs, marriage certificate, travel history, pay stubs (for both of us), passports, employment verification later, updated medicals and tax transcripts. We didn't give any document IO didn't ask us to.

IO told us she would recommend our case for approval and hand it over to another department, which would take the final decision.

She gave us a standard letter saying to contact USCIS if we don’t get any update in 120 days.

Leaving employer after GC
Hi All,

I have finally received my GC under EB2 Category in last October. I have been working as an IT consultant with my sponsoring employer for 2 years.
Now, i have received a FT job offer from a big company. They want me to join in Jan, 2019. If I accept this offer, i am leaving the sponsoring employer within 3 months of receiving GC.

I know that 6 month is recommended time to stick with sponsoring employer after GC approved. Did anybody here have an experience to leave the employer in 2-3 months after gc? Did it really cause any trouble?

Please share your knowledge/experience on this matter and help me to make the right decision,

what should my next step be?
EB3 ROW
Priority Date: June 2017
I485 Filed: Mar 2018
Interview Date: 1 Oct 2018

At the end of the interview, officer gave me a piece of paper that checked that my case is being held for review (not "your I-485 is complete and will be transferred to TSC or NBC due to retrogression).
Officer said because 1Oct is the same day when the retrogression is ceased, they need time to process and see if there's visa available and he deem our application favorable for approval.

What should I do next? I just checked the Newark, NJ Field Office is not scheduling any Infopass appointments nor walk-in. It's been hard for me to see fellow applicants whose interview is in Oct/Nov and getting their physical GC in hand and I've no updates. Are the lawyers able to help?

how to check your case status
Hi fellow wait-mates,
I received the great news that our case has been scheduled for interview today. Very excited :D
(Five months and 11 days after Fingerprinting, EB2, TSC transferred to NBC, local office:Manchester NH, Filed I-485 Feb 13, 2018)

But here's the more important observation I'd like to share with you regarding case status updates:

1. The new USCIS case status website shows no updates:
URL #1: https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

2. The 'old' USCIS case status website does not show the actions taken on my case when I log in. It used to show them, but now you have three options upon logging in, that take you to other confusing webpages. Recently, I have not been able to locate my case status on this website. This website was always more up-to-date for me than URL #1.
URL #2: https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov

3. I received an email today about an action having been taken on my case. The "sign-in" link that was in this email took me directly to the case status page that I used to see when I went to URL #2 when I logged in. The URL #3 for this website looks a bit different:https://my.uscis.gov/account/applicant

In sum, if you are looking for the most up-to-date case status messages, try URL #3.

Let me know if this helps you.

Good Luck to all, I can't wait for our interview to be scheduled and wish you all a great status update message soon.

EB2 ROW - Caribbean
Below is my timeline:

11/30 - Submitted PWL (last year). It's funny - my I485 was approved exactly a year later.
01/30 - Received PWL and submitted PERM on the same day.
06/05 - PERM Approved.
06/29 - I140 (Premium), I131, I485, and I765.
07/03 - USCIS received my documents.
07/09 - RFE for I140.
07/13 - Respond to I140 RFE.
07/16 - I140 Approved.
07/31 - EAD Combo Approved.
08/05 - Received EAD Combo Card.
08/06 - Biometrics.
08/17 - Transferred to NBC to speed-up processing.
10/12 - Ready to schedule interview.
10/15 - Interview scheduled.
11/21 - Interview at Milwaukee USCIS.
11/30 - Case Approved.
12/03 - Received Approval Notice.
12/06 - USPS Informed Delivery notification that Green Card will be delivered.

Interview experience: the IO literally went through every question on the I485 to verify if everything's fine (or if anything changed). She only asked for a copy of my latest I-94. I had to ask her if she needs my EVL and latest paystubs to verify that I'm still working at my current job. She stated how frustrating it is that employment-based visa applications now need interviews and there doesn't seem to a consensus on what to do at these interviews. The interview latest for 25 minutes (most of the time was spent on the YES/NO questions).

I am just happy this process is over. I am also grateful for this forum for giving us the platform to share our experiences, frustrations, and queries. Good luck everyone. Hopefully, sooner than later, you all will get through. I also empathize with those of you who have been waiting for a while. After reading many of the posts, I believe I am fortunate to have had a relatively smooth (and fast) experience.

USCIS Check Status Website Offline
Seems today the check status site is offline. Probably better, so we do not check every second :)

Eb2 row NSC Green card under review
Hi anyone who recently went for interview at NSC and they put your green card application under review after interview? Did anyone get any update after that.

After my interview IO said everything looks okay and she got all the info she need but then she handed over white paper saying she has review my application. I asked her how long it will take for us to get update and she said she has 120 days to review the case and update. I though I will get response in a day or two seeing all the post but it is almost 3 weeks.

I485 fun
PD: May 2016
My I-485 timeline:
Case was received: October 5 2017
Case was transferred and a new office has jurisdiction: Feb 28 2018
Case received at Local Office: March 6
Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview: September 27
Interview was scheduled: October 3
Interview date: November 7
Submitted I485J ... that status changed on this changed to Fees Were Waived: November 7

No updated on I485 status after that, still says "Interview was scheduled".

Nothing after that .... :( Dunno what to do... I didnot get any letter or paper from the IO saying under review or whatever, my PD is current and she agreed to that. She said ofcourse i cant approve right away since we have to process your I485J. But not sure how long that takes. I think I485J is to keep the IO informed before the interview, and this gets filed and then makes its way to the local office, but in this case since the submitted it by hand, the IO had it and she filed it into the system. Not sure what other processes need to be undertaken.. hmm more wait !
