My Interview was at 8 AM hyderabad.
After passing through initial security and document screening..waiting for my Token number to be called.
Me: Greeted the VO
VO: responded back with greeting me
VO: Asked for Passport and document list
Me: passed my passport and document list

H1B Visa - Chennai Consulate
It was a quite wonderful experience for me. My interview appointment was at 11 AM .
Before I entered into consulate, they asked me to show my Appointment Letter and my DS160 Confirmation Page. When you show that you will be given the token number and its a process your interview will be based on token number.
After that security will check you and your files, to know whether you have any CD, pendrive, etc... which is not supposed to be carried inside (even mobile phones)
Once I entered in the consulate, waited for my token to be displayed in the LCD screen. Once the number is displayed, will move to the window where I am supposed to be and they will check your documents and later folded it and kept my passport inside with appointment letter.
After this I was asked to enter into Interview hall, here also same process, waited for my token to be displayed in the LCD screen. My number was displayed and Luckily, there was no one in front of me and back of me during my interview.
I passed my documents..
VO : Good Morning
Me : Good Morning, How are you..?
VO : Good and How are you..?
Me : Good Too, Thank you
Checked all my document for a min and here the questions starts...
VO : Purpose of your trip?
Me : Going to work as YYYY for YYYY Client
VO : Roles and Responsibilities ?
Me : Explained about that.
VO : Highest Qualification
Me : Bachelor of Computer Application
VO : Year of Experience in TCS ?
Me: Told about it
VO :Have you read know your rights doc?
Me : Yes
And VO asked me to give my finger prints (10 Fingers, First left 4 and Next Right 4 and finally 2 Thumb fingers). Actually, Finger prints will be done after the document checking in the first counter, which was not done for me.
VO: Your visa is approved and we will be dispatching the passport in 3 days. Have a safe trip
Me: Thank you so much and Have a great day :)
General things to follow:
1. Keep yourself fresh and Energetic
2. Your body language should be professional and be confident in answering the questions.
Then, the visa is yours :)

Simple interview this morning. I'm working for a large management consulting firm in New York and have an MBA from an Ivy League university.
Me: Good morning, how are you doing?
VO: Great, how are you!
Me: Fine, thanks! (handed him my passport and forms)
VO: So you studied in the US?
Me: That's right
VO: Where did you go?
Me: YYYY University
VO: Ah, my grandfather went there but that didn't help me get in!
Me: (Laughing) They dinged me the first time I applied, but I persisted and it worked out. I got lucky.
VO: (Starts laughing) What did you study?
Me: I got an MBA in finance
VO: So you work at YYYY ?
Me: Yeah, that's right
VO: Where are their offices?
Me: In New York City
VO: What do you do for them?
Me: I work in their banking & capital markets group working in the quant risk group
VO: You've had an H1-B before, was it with the same firm or another?
Me: Nope, that was with another firm
VO: Your visa is approved. You should have your passport in a week.

There were others getting grilled for around 10 minutes each, but they were all pretty standard questions related to the job, project, etc. They were focusing on why people were going to the US, why they wanted to work in IT, etc. Hope this helps, and good luck to all.

H1B interview Expereince
Hi All,
It was a superb and tensed experience for me while attending the Visa interview.
I attended the H1B Visa interview on 25th May 2012 at Hyderabad, It was a bit stress and strainful preinterview work.
As soon as I stood in the queue for interview there were four people standing infront of me and among that I remember there were three YYYY employees and one guy from Microsoft.
Amazingly and shockingly what I observed while standing in the queue was all the three guys were rejected for the visa ( I am extremely sorry for all the guys) and person from YYYY got through the Visa.
The Person infront of me was from YYYY and his visa was rejected and I lost almost all my hopes and stood infront of the interviewer with the hope of just bleak chances of getting visa.
I was asked the following questions:
1) GoodMorning , How are doing ?
2) He asked me which company I work for and who is client in USA ?
3)Location of Client
4)Reporting manager and his location ?
5)Client details
6)Does your reporting manager and you work at same location.
Thats it, came out the golden words

H1B visa approved
It was a big day for me .. My interview appoint was 9AM 25th May 2012.. I reached the consulate at 8AM .. there were quite a few bunch of people sitting around the corner of the consulate .. i started joining in the queue. Before i entered in the consulate they asked me to show my interview letter.. so all you people ready with the letter before joining in the line so that you no need to look around and start searching your paper. Once i entered in the consulate i sat on a bench and some consulate guys came to us and asked us to take out our passports and I797B forms and they later fold it and kept in my passport .. So there are lot people still waiting in the line to sit out side wait for the call .. so dont panic though your visa interview scheduled at 9AM and you are still in the line .. Its a process the interview will be based on your token number which you will get once you go inside the actual waiting hall. Once you get the toke they will guide you to go for the finger prints.. Once they taken your finger prints then you will have to wait for your turn for the interview. Keep monitoring the screen .. it will display the ongoing token and next one in the queue along with the window number ... Dont try to think too much about any things .. you may see some panic and disappointed faces after getting their visa rejected. Dont worry those are other category of visas.. I waited for my turn and approached the alloted window ..
Me: G'd Morning .. How are you doing today.
VO: I'm good thanks. How are you?
Me: good too thanks.
VO: Pass the 1797B and passport.
Me: Yes mam. Passed the documents to her.
VO: Are you going work with the same company in US ?
Me: Yes.
VO: Have ever worked in US earlier ?

VO: What is your salary there ?
Me: xxxxx$
VO: Who is your client.
Me : xxxxxxxxx
VO: Highest Degree ?
Me: xxxxx ..

In My case VO did not asked for any other documents.. But make sure that you are carrying all the support documents .. No body knows what they are going to ask ..

Received 221G at Mumbai Consulate
Hi Friends,
I had my H1B visa interview at Mumbai Consulate on 24th May @ 9 AM. I received 221G on a yellow paper :-(
Below is the conversation we had:
Me: Good Morning officer.
VO: Your Passport please
VO: How long you have been working with ZZZ?
Me: 4 years and 11 months
VO: Who is your client?
Me: ABC
VO: Are you a Bachelor's or Master's ?
Me: Master in XYZ
Thats it....The VO was deeply engrossed in his screen...after reading for 30 secs, he pulled the yellow slip (221G) and handed it to me and said: "I am giving you this letter, here is your CEAC number and you need to visit the below website to check the status. If your CEAC number is in the list, please send your passport and this letter to the nearest VFS center. You dont need to visit the Consulate again"
The website mentioned on the sheet was: *
Everybody's H1B is getting approved, i was the only one (out of the hundreds from my company) who got this 221g :-(
Did anyone else also faced the same issue? Did anyone got their Visa approved after getting 221G?

H4 without H1 B
I got a job offer while I was under a tourist visa. now the company offered me a job and the petition for h1 b got approved as well as the change of status.
now i got here in the states and in about 1 month the hi1 b petition got approved with my change of status.
now my wife needs to come and apply for an h4
would it be fine to apply for an h4 without me going back and stamping my h1 b?
does my need legal representation from a lawyer to do this? a letter from the lawyer?
would it be easy for her to apply for h4?
any suggestions

I had attended 15th May 2012, after several questions VO said your VISA is approved and will send a week. Untill today I am not received, when I approached VFS they dont have any information, they just give passport to courier service once rceive from Consulate.
