VISA Type : First time H1B
Intervew Date : 19/04/2012
Place of Interview : New Delhi
I have given visa interview at New Delhi embassy on 19-APR-2012.

VO at counter no 1X took my interview. He didn’t ask/see any documents. He was giving me the white pamphlet, I said I have that one. VO wrote “o” in the circle on interview confirmation page and said go to counter no 30 and returned the passport and I-797.

VO at counter 30 issued me 221(g) Pink Handout and kept my passports, I-797 and said they want to do additional processing. They didn’t ask me for any other documents.
What do you suggest as VO at counter 30 told me it will take 3-4 weeks ?
Is there anyone else who is/was in the same boat? Please share!!!

H1B- 24 April Approved
I jus wanted to add few more points.

.Prepare well. Atleast have a jist of what you are going to speak.

.There is no trend that VO will for accepting or rejecting.
.
. Dont jump to any conclusions of trends like if people who stood infront of you are getting rejected " DONT GET TENSED". ( Four people who were before me were rejected!)

.Better to sit away as you get time to relax and avoid unnecassary talks. ( Person sitting beside me told that last week his friends visa which was H1B was rejected. This really annoyed me.)

.Better to stand in line when atleast one person is ahead of you. Coz this will help you to get the tension out and you ll be relaxed.

. When walking to the VO jus smile.

.Be confident.
 All the Very BEST!!!

H1B experience
Hello,

Just sharing my exp because I sometimes checked the site to get a gist of the interviews and the temper.

My interview lasted about 60 seconds.

1. What do you do for .. ?
2. What does .. do?
3. Your pay slips?
4. Visa in a week.

That's it! He seemed to know what my company does but asked anyway.

Also I am a FTE so no worries.

Just be confident and don't be all dramatic. Don't get turned down by their behavior or rejection.

Remember, we are here because of our own deeds - consultants and other Indian firms abusing visa rules and misusing it terribly. So STOP complaining!

H1B Visa Approved New Delhi
Hi Guys ,

First of all Thankyou verymuch to each one of you who have posted their experiances here which helps alot in the preparation.

My PA was scheduled at 9:45 AM in the morning 26th April 2012 . The day started with cab not showing up on time :( ...but i managed to reach consulate much before time thanks to the Driver who dropped me at 8:15 AM .

After a long wait entered in the consulate. I was very tensed since my L1B and B1 were rejected last year. After initial verification/finger printing waited in the queue for the interview . It was lady taking the interview as i was watching she was approving every visa in front of me. :) So my heart started pounding very fast .

Here goes the interview:

VO : Hello !!
Me : Good morning Mam !

VO : Who is your Client ?
Me : YYYY

VO : Where is your client Located ?
Me : YYYY City YYYY state

VO : Who is your manager and where he sits ?
Me : YYYY she was not able to get the name at first so told her again.

VO : What will you be doing in US ?
Me : told about roles and responsibilities .

VO: You were refused visa twice ?
Me : yes L1B and B1 last year

Then Finally the GOLDEN WORDS Came "I am approving your visa this time "

I was really shocked to hear those words which really i wanted to hear for past 1 year ...

Me : Thankyou and smiled and went off like a rocket before she could return my passport back :)

H1B experience
My interview date for H1B was 24th April-1000 AM.
I spent the last 5 days very anxiously, counting each moment. (Reason my L1B was rejected last year)
I reached BKC; Mumbai at 830 AM and joined the very long queue.
Fortunately, it wasn’t very unpleasant standing so long in the queue, due to a bit cloudy weather. (May be the rain gods sent some clouds to protect the people standing in queue from the sun.)
In my observation, the ambience at BKC is very pleasant, better than the older consulate, for which I still have dark memories, as if going through the interview inside a cave.
After all the formalities, I was sitting on one of the benches watching the TV screens for my token number. The numbers move very fast, so my number came in just 15 minutes.
I was observing a gentleman officer who was asking questions loudly to a guy who had apparently come for some kind of work visa (like me).People on all the benches could hear him. I don’t recollect the questions now, but the way he was asking made me little more anxious and tensed.
Finally my token number appeared on window 25,it was a dark lady officer at the window ,before I could get the time to think how would I greet her, she greeted me with a smile and asked me, how are you?.
I answered, Fine Thank you!
This moment I felt 50 percent of my tension getting dissipated.

The next questions were
1) Why are you going to the USA?
--Answered in 1 sentence
2) Who is your client?
--Told 'client name'
3) What is 'client name'?
--Told what does the client company do
4) What is your project?
5) What is your educational qualification?

I answered all questions confidently.
Then a pause of around 30 seconds, and then she gently took in my passport and said with a smile, "Congratulations, I have approved your visa, have a nice trip...”

I don’t know what was going through my head at that time...I said,"Thank you ma'am, you too!" :)
Many people in this forum say that it is all about confidence coming out of preparation and luck. I would agree 100 %.
For me, may be it would have been a different story but for this officer.
I don’t know if all this I have written would be of any help, but this forum has been quite useful to me, hence the gratitude!
Note: Even I have heard that H1Bs are getting approved easily to good numbers.
So going forward, here is wishing good luck to all!
Signing off with my philosophical feeling at this moment...win or lose a battle, don’t quit, the war will always go on...
