Thanks alot for posting your experiences. It has helped me alot. I got my H1B approved on 11'th Feb. Only few questions.
1)What's your company
2) What's your designation
3) What will be your salary
4) Do you work for any client or an internal project ?
5) what's your project name ?
That's all. Just be confident. It is sufficient to fetch visa for you.
1st time H1B (through Consultant) at New Delhi on 25Feb2011
Mine slot was 11:15 am, I reached there around 9 or 9.30 (does not matter what time you reach there but please be before 11:30 or 12:00, even if you miss your slot , they will call/entertain your appointment) then I wait under the tree shade, as they dont have any sitting facilities, nor even for senior citizens , you can sit on the road side payment.
While you are waiting outside, you can deposit your electronics items at gate no 5, you can ask any security guard about this. Once you submit your items they will give you a token no. , now wait for your slot on road only, security guard will make slot announcement, and you will go on the other side road and make a queue , please take out your appointment letter and passport , make sure you dont have any electronics gadget with you else they will put you out of the queue.
Then next step will be security checking (watches and wallets are allowed), then please take out your HDFC bank payment slip and online DS160 form , they will attach a white colour slip on your appointment letter (like C73 , P144 depends upon your visa category) , H1B guys will have C category token no. After waiting for some time ,you will enter the consulate hall.
Initial interviewers will be INDIANS, and will ask you about your DOB, place of residence, original petition copy and is it your first time visit to US and after that they will write a piece of code on your appointment letter, (they will staple your petition copy on passport and your appointment letter) After few steps there will be fingerprints section, she will ask you for your passport, once your finger prints are done you will wait for your token no. (This is the last step) , once your token no. is displayed, Consulate (American) will interview you (remember it will be standing interview , there will be glass partitioned)
1. Name
2. Is it your first time visit?
3. Highest Qualification?
4. Who is your employer?
5. How did you meet your employer?
6. Your consultant will deploy you at which client? And what is its name?
7. Where is your employer located?
8. What will you do after going there?
9. What have you done in past(IT experience)?
10. Current or past employer?
11. How many years your were associated with past employer?
12. upon checking my other stamped visas, he asked for what purpose you went to these countries?
13. Can I see your signed letter between employer and your client, while I was searching the letter in bunch of papers, he asked me to pass the full bunch of papers and he started seeing them, I can judge from his eyes that he was just going through those papers not examining them with interest.
At last he passed me the papers, except the passport and original petition paper.
"I am approving your visa and keeping your passport, you will get it soon, I said thanks, he said "best of luck
Now fingers crossed and just waiting for my passport...

Going for H1B stamping @ hyderabad during second week of March
Hello all,
I am going for my H1b visa stamping in second week of March. I have some questions regarding the documents from petitioner : The financial statement for past two years and unemployment records, do we have to carry these documents with us for stamping?
Please share your experience of H1B stamping in Hyderabad consulate.
I had my H1b interview last tuesday!
Reached the Stars and Stripes Lounge @ 7 30.
My Interview was @ 8 30. For some reason Interviews were postponed by 45 mins. Got into the Van to Consulate when they called for our Slot.
Stood in the Queue outside the Consulate for Hardly 5 minutes. Anyone attending interview in Mumbai, please take the Lounge facility. You can have a comfortable time before the interview rather than standing in the queue outside.
After the security check, went inside took my Application which was submitted in Pune VFS center. Then followed by fingerprint scan. Got my token Number.
Interviews were happening pretty fast. And the token number is random. So please be attentive to the announcement when your number is called.
Interview:

Me: Thank you
Walked off from Consulate straight from Consulate to Phone Booth to call my dear ones as I didnt carry my cell phone.
So my advice to all is to: Be Confident! Be Precise!
I work for a Big4 consulting firm
i had changed status from F1 to H1 but had not travelled to india for 3 years.I had first joined a desi consultancy firm and was afraid to go for stamping after hearing all the horror stories. After i transferred visa to the big4 firm, i finally got the confidence.
here is theinterview
Vo: Good afternoon
me: Good afternoon
Vo: is this your first time for H1b.
Me:well technically this is my first time but...(VO interrupted with a smile saying" oh so this is F1 to H1?"
me : yes ( with a smile too)
VO : ok how long have you been with xyz?
me : 7 months
VO : what do you do for them and what is your annual?
me: blah blah blah( VO wasnt even paying attention)
Vo: So you went to school in Michigan
me : yes
VO: what year did you graduate?
me:2006
Vo:before xyz where did you work?
me:(st this point i was worried bcoz my previous employr was a violator) yet i kept a straight face and said abc
Vo: can i see your employment verificaton letter and recent pay stubs
Me: (handed over the docs, at this point she said you Visa is issued have a nice day and threw my folder behind and screamed the next token number)
My main message for people is that if you are direct employee of a reputed firm, you need not worry at all.
While waiting in the consulate, i made a few friends and the general observation is that even if you are employer- vendor- client model, have the proper letter or documents stating the employer-employee relationship. Some people did get through in these cases.(you should have seen the sigh of relief on their faces)
while talking please be confident and consistent, please do not say anything that conflicts with what is on your apllication and Ds 160, some people got grilled for this
Please carry all documents(pay stubs, W2 etc).Better safe than sorry
A big thanks to this forum and to everyone who had shared their experiences before, those really helped. Below is what I came across,
I got My H1B visa approval on 18th Feb 2011. After initial verification of all the documents and finger print scanning, I was sent to the next building where Vo asked me only three questions.
Q1- What is your project?
While I was explaining about my project.. I was interrupted in between, he wanted me to explain my job profile also.
Q2- Who is your Client? and your Work location in US?
Internal// Dallas Texas
Q3- How much Slalary you will get in US?
Bla Bla Bla
Thats it, before I could tell my salary in US... VO said - "Sir your Visa is Approved. You will get back your passport in a weeks time, Enjoy your stay in US"
Note- The total time spent in front of the window was not more than a minute and there seemed no rejection cases for any H1B candidates, so just be cool and answer the questions correctly.
