I should be happy, but...
Hi Forum,

I should be happy today because we finally had our interview. It was fairly standard, and we submitted proof of our life together, including shared work benefits, credit cards, our new house, photos, etc. At the end, our officer said we were approved.

However, he advised us that they have up until 120 days to finish the final background check and mail my husband his green card. He advised us not to travel in the meantime, even though my husband received his EAD/AP document, because now that he has been approved but still doesn't have the official green card, it can make it look like his case was abandoned.

We had no idea when this interview would happen, and we are leaving for our "honeymoon" 2 weeks from now. We saved up enough money to finally do it. We also knew this process would be long, so we didn't want to put our life on hold. We've so far paid more than \$2,000 on plane tickets alone, and although we bought trip insurance, I was told by the company today that this is not a valid reason to receive a cancellation refund. I'm heartbroken. We were really looking forward to this trip, and on top of that, I'm now going to lose all of the money we put into it, all because our case could look abandoned.

On a day that should be happy for us, I've spent the morning crying. The financial loss to us because of this process is too extreme.

Dallas Field Office - Family Based I 485
My priority date is April 13, 2017. Does anybody know Dallas Field Office's processing time? USCIS website says July 14, 2016 as of April 30, 2017. Just wanted to know a more accurate answer. Has anybody had their interview done in Dallas recently? If so, what is your priority date?

Thanks so much!

My kids I130 cases moved from Nebraska to NBC
My USC husband filed I130 for my children all minors living outside the US in October 2016. Been waiting for approval and for the case to move to NVC. We got receipts notice from USCIS after 7months saying the cases has been moved to NBC and will get back to us when approved or if they need more documents.
Is this normal? Please does anyone have same experience pls share. Thanks

Simple question, but still can't find an answer
If I apply to my parents whom are outside the US, do I still need to file i-485?

Or only i-130 initially and then i-864 when USCIS asks for it?

I am a bit confused in what order do I have to file the applications and what documents need to be sent with the i-130.

Appreciate your answers. Thanks!

PLEASE HELP. It's quite urgent.
I think I made a mistake on one of the yes/no questions my I-485. To the question "have you ever been arrested, cited, charged, indicted, convicted, fined, or imprisoned for breaking or violating any law or ordinance," I answered "No" because I had not been arrested, cited, charged, indicted, convicted, fined, or imprisoned, but I came to remember that years ago I had been "ticketed" and possibly "charged" for selling liquor without a license. (I used to own a restaurant and my server served liquor to an undercover police officer.) I always remembered it as my server's fault and thought it was a non-issue. In addition, the whole incident was caused by a misunderstanding (*I did have my liquor license*) and the case was dismissed very early on (I did not have to pay fines or anything). At management conference (legal term), I had a meeting with the DA before I was scheduled to appear in court, and they told me that they would dismiss the case, which they did.

How can I correct this mistake? Can I correct it at the interview by bringing additional supporting evidence and laying them on the table? My interview is only two weeks away. I have already obtained my certified court record to show that the case was closed at management conference and dismissed before going to trial. I can't sleep because of this. When I filed the application, it just didn't occur to me at all because the whole thing was not my mistake. I would greatly appreciate your advice in this matter. Please.

Applying to parents
Hey folks,

Now I am planning to apply for green cards to my parents (they are outside the US) and a bit confused. I checked the fees on USCIS website and it says that total fees will be $ 1,490. I looked everywhere on the website to know if this is for both parents or for each but can't find this piece of information.

Do you think I need a lawyer, or I could just file it myself (knowing that my parents had green cards in the past and they lost the status)?

Last question, I have recently applied to my wife and we are currently waiting for the marriage interview. Does this conflict with applying to my parents? Would it have any negative impact on the application for my wife?

Thanks to helpers in advance

Green card waiting game through Marriage
Hi everyone,

Timeline:

- Feb 2nd 2017 filed I-485, I-130, G-325A, Medical, etc (Everything needed was submitted all at once)
- Feb 14th 2017: Fingerprints accepted
- March 31st 2017: Interview Scheduled
- May 3rd 2017: Interview

In our interview:

We were asked a couple of easy questions (where we 1st met, 1st date, have we been on trips together, etc)
We showed photos we bought in an album of trips we had taken over the last two years. Visits from my family and visits to his family. Birthdays, holidays, weddings, etc with his family (My family live in the UK so my mom has only visited twice)
I told her I wasn't able to be on any bills or to have a joint account as my SSN was put on pause as soon as my visa expired back in April 2015.
At the end of the interview she said she needed our phone bill from august (when we got married) along with affidavits from my parents and his parents as well as our landlord. She also asked for anything mailed to our address with my name on it so I sent:
- cashier's check from Well's Fargo when I closed my account (Sent the original as I never cashed the check dated June 2016)
- Phone bill from August along with all numbers we contacted during that period (hundreds between my husband and I which is great)
- Orders sent to me with our address
- Two letters from close friends signed, dated and contact info provided.
- The affidavits requested: Landlord, both parents.
- A printed FaceBook conversation between my mom and my husbands mom regarding the wedding etc.
- More pictures with his family

* Mailed yesterday 5/8/17.

How long is the wait from here? She said wait around 1 month and you'll have your answer. (But I think it will take longer)

Any similar experiences?
