H1B Dropbox to Interview to Administrative Processing
Hyderabad Consulate.

I went for my dropbox on January 30, 2019. I got an email on 02/04/2019 to come to consulate for finger prints and interview.

I went for interview and the VO asked the following questions -

VO: What is your highest level of education?
Me: Masters in Industrial and Systems Engg at (told my university name, its a reputed university).

VO: Did you use your OPT and then applied for H1?
Me: Yes, I used my OPT and then applied for H1.

VO: Do you work at client location or Petitioner location?
Me: I am a full time employee with my petitioner so I work at the petitioner's location (told my petitioner's name)

VO: How long have you been working with this company?
Me: I have been working since April 2017, so about 2 years

VO: Your application is under administrative processing, we will let you know in 5 business days".

In CEAC website the last update was 02/15/2019 and says Admin Processing.

Has anyone experienced this situation ?

H1b interview at mumbai - Administrative processing stuck
I went for my H1b visa stamping interview at Mumbai consulate on October 12, 2018. The visa officer asked me regular questions about my employer, the end client, about the project and my yearly salary and handed me green slip for 221(g) with the chechbox your application requires additional admin processing.

He kept my passports with him and told me that they will get back to me via email if they need anything. After 7-10 days I got my passports back without the visa stamp but with another green slip 221(g) like the one I received during my interview.. On CEAC website the status shows administrative processing and the last updated date is October 12, 2018 which was my interview date. That means there is no update in the case status. It has been more than 4 months without any updates from the consulate.

This doesn't seem normal to me that they haven't gotten back to me with any further request for documents, neither have they contacted my employer nor the end client.

I made several attempts to get the update on this case myself, via my employer and attorney as well as sent two congressional inquiries from local senator and a congressman but we all receive the reply that they can't give us any update before the admin processing is complete and I need to wait for them to get back to us.

In one of the experiences here on immihelp I read that it is possible to fill the fresh DS-160, file the new visa application, pay the visa fees and take the visa appointment for the case which is still pending in admin. processing and go for the re-interview. In the fresh DS-160 you can explain about the existing case which is stuck in 221(g) admin processing and may be you can face the interview and explain the visa office about it but I am not sure if it is advisable.

My attorney says that she would not advise for this as it may seriously jeopardize the chances to get the case resolved as it may offend the visa officer and they may not take this as a nice step on our part and can even deny the case on the spot.

Any ideas on taking the shot at the second interview?

H4 I 797 A Not received
Hi,

I am in USA currently. We are going to India in March for vacation. We had recently renewed h1b and h4. Our extension is approved till 2021. we have got h1b I797A. But because of the the address change, h4 i797a is misplaced. Now we have scheduled for stamping and we are eligible for drop box. Can I go ahead for stamping without i797a ? With just having primary applicant (h1) i797a. Or will I have issues in stamping ? Without h4 approval notice ? By the way, h4 case status online shows approved Please help with your valuable suggestions.
Thanks in advance

Visa appointment was scheduled for the 13th Feb.

My experience was as follows.

Fingerprinting:
1. Took 8.30 am appointment but reached at 7.45.

3. There were only few people before me.
4. In and out took me about 20 min and i was done with photo and finger printing.

Visa Appointment
1. Appointment set at 8.30
2. There were a lot of people for the 7.45 , 8 am , 8.15 am appointment.
3. i reached an hour before mine. i was approximately called at around to line up for the 8.30
4. Took at least Half hour to 40 min to get to the VO desk for the interview

Interview

Me: Good morning (handed my I-797 and my passport)

ME - in house

VO - What is the product that you work on

ME - Told him the product and what the product does and the industry that its used.

VO - Hmmm (types something) - i suspected he was looking at the product software.

VO - Your Visa is approved you will get a confirmation email soon.

ME - Thank you, are there any delays in the current visa processing considering that 18th Feb is a federal holiday ?

VO - No it will take the usual processing time.

ME - Thank you.

on 14th Feb in the morning i got an email that the passport was returned by the consulate. i went and checked my status and it said ready for pick up.
