Waiting for visa issue after interview
Date of interview: 22nd Jan 2019

Got my extension for 3 years from June 2019 to June 2022. took visa interview based on the new I-797. VO said that the visa is approved. On 28th Jan got a call to provide the current I-797 which has validity till June 2019 emailed them the document same day, but the status on the CEAC site still shows Application Received with last update date as 23rd Jan 2019.

How many days should i expect to get the approval and passport.

H1 B 221g blue slip @New delhi on 25 Jan 19
25 Jan 2019 - VO give me blue slip and ask for End client letter, I797 and Educational certifications and return the passport.

29 Jan - I submitted all the required documents in zip folder over the email which is mentioned in blue slip and got the response documents in submitted over email.

Do any body have idea how much time they will take to process. However VO said it will take 2 weeks ?

Also, the case number which she mentioned was not working on their site because she forget or intentionally not mentioned the 2 zero's in the last 4 digit number. e.g. She mentioned xxxxxx xxx 23 but it should be
xxxxxx xxx 0023.

H1B 221g white slip in Vancouver
Interview date: 24th Jan/Thurs 9:15 AM

Simple questions about work profile, company, University, etc.
At the end, the officer handed over a 221(g) white slip which was the least expected.
He didn't request any documents and said it will take 3-5 business days.

And he took the the passport and I-797.

First update 25th Jan/ Fri (Admin Processing)
Second update 28th Jan/Mon (Issued)
Passport delivered - 29th Jan

Hope this will help others.

Visa issued within 5 days of 221g Blue Slip

Had my VAC on January 22nd and Consulate interview on the 24th. I saw so many experiences with people waiting for days for their visas after getting 221(g), so figured this might be a relief to some.

Interview went as follows:

VO: Good morning, So you work for [Company Name]?
Me: Yes, I've been working as [Designation] at [Company Name] from February

VO: Did you work during your OPT?
Me: Post-Completion OPT?
VO: Yes
Me: I started working as an intern, and converted the job to a full time role. So yes.

VO: Is it a new company?
Me: Yes, its around 3.5 years old

VO: Were you ever out of status during your F1 period?
Me: I don't think so

VO: Took my passport and gave 221(g) form and said I can check my status after 7 days

Timeline:
Jan 24: Interview
Jan 28th: Still in administrative processing
Jan 29th: Issued and Passport ready to pick up

Administrative procesing
I attended my visa interview for first time H1b in Hyderabad location on Jan 24th.

I was asked all common questions and asked for the client letter. I gave it. The VO said he needs additional time to review and handed over 221g white slip with second checkbox checked which indicated 'need administrative processing'.

He did not take my passport. He kept LCA and client letter with him.

Anyone faced the same situation and got the passport stamped? How long did the process take?

Administrative processing
At the end of my H1B visa interview...

the VO kept my passport and said, it will be returned after some administrative processing in a week or so..
However, I did NOT get any 221(g) slip,,

-- Is my case, same as 221(g)?

-- Does the VO utter something like: "here is your 221(g)... and explains what it is and what I need to do while handing over the 221(g) slip??

--I hope I did not miss anything in the window pass through.. I AM SURE I DID NOT, even if I forget to pickup, the VO would have pointed that out and ask me to pickup..

Did anyone had such experience ?? Please share your input ...

2nd H1B visa interview
This is my visa interview experience for my H1B (2nd)

Readers may refer to my earlier post for my first H1B visa experience 3 yrs back...

Much of the procedure is same as what I mentioned in my earlier post 3 yrs back...

My scenario:
This is my 2nd H1B
I switched employer.
My first employer filed my H1B extension and later after a few months I moved to a new company..

the New company also filed a new H1B petition..

when I went to the interview, I took all I-797s I had ..

however, the main one is the most recent one filed by my current employer..

VO (visa officer) did not ask my I-797...

VO: What company do you work for?
Me: ZZZ

VO: Is it a Product based company?
Me: ZZZ

VO: What product does it make?
Me: ZZZ

VO: How long you been with this company?
Me: ZZZ

VO: Before working with this company what were you doing?
Me: I mentioned that I was working for the competitor for my current company,... VO asked if "ZZZ" is the company... I said yes... (I was a bit surprised as he mentioned the old company name even before I told him)...
I think the VO has all our details on his computer,,, most of the questions were just for confirmation.

VO: What is your current salary?
me: ZZZ

VO: Did you go to school in US?
Me: ZZZ

VO: What was your major in?
Me: ZZZ

VO: Did you ever had any visa violation?
Me: No..

VO: Do you know the rights and laws of the employees working in US?
Me: yes... a pamphlet kind of thing was previously given to me by the VO when I came for my first H1B stamping

VO kept my passport and said it will be returned back within a week after regular AP (administrative processing)

Me: Thank you...

h1 visa interview Hyd
This forum helped me a lot for preparing the visa interview. Here is my experience.
We took my younger kid(US citizen) to consulate, security personal asked birth certificate/passport of the kid. I didnt carry such documents and security was not allowed us to enter. Next level security allowed us upon request.
It took one and half hour to be called at the window. Be prepare for longer wait times. This is my third stamping at hyd, directly working for fortune 500 company. VO refused to take documents except passport and DS-160 confirmation. She asked questions:

4.whats your role in company

F1 --> OPT --> H1B
Here's a little background to my case:

I did my Master's at a reputed University and joined an Indian IT company giant in 2014. I was working as a contractor at different vendor sites. I got my H1B approved in 2015 and I hadn't gone for stamping since.
I now work as a FTE with an American company and I'm working for them since mid 2017.

I had my fingerprinting appointment on Dec 27,2018.
Consular Interview @ Chennai on Dec 28, 2018.

My appointment was at 845am but by the time I was called by the VO it was 11:00am. In the 2 hour period I was there, there were many rejections and most H1B candidates were given the Blue/Pink slip. Most candidates spent an avg of 5min with the VO. Needless to say I was very nervous.

VO: Good Morning, please give me your passports.
Me: A very Good morning.! Here are my passports.

VO: Which company do you work for?
Me: YYYY

VO: Where are you located?
Me: YYYY

What's you salary?
Me: YYYY

VO: Looks like you have done your Master's in US.
Me: Yeah.

VO: Which school did you go to?
Me: YYYY

VO: Your visa is approved. Enjoy your stay in the US.
Me: Thank you so much.

I came back and checked the Visa status online
Dec 28: Admin Processing.
Dec 31: Issued.
Jan 2: Passport was ready for pickup.
