Confused situation. Need some help in understanding
Hello,

I'm going for H1-B stamping sometime soon to India.
Here is my current situation. I want to know what I need to be aware of before going in this situation and your suggestions and experiences are highly appreciated.

came to US in 2012 for masters (MS in CS, state university)
graduated in May 2014.
Started working for a consulting company from june 2014
H1 got picked in 2017(2018 CAP) but didnt get approved until OCT 31st of 2017.(So my cap gap got expired on Sept 30th. So I didnt work from then. Having applied for a new masters and had a new valid I-20, I have stayed in the country. My sevis got transfered to the new university before sept 30th( So Sevis was active). Got my h1b approved on OCT 31st(effective Oct 31st). I have worked on CPT for 1 day and after knowing my h1 b got approved, I have postponed my plan of doing masters in security related field to future sometime in 2020 ).
Then I have changed the client and have filed and amendment in 2018 april.
But because of some reasons, I had to leave this client before that amendment's decision and have gone to a new client this Jan 2019 and have filed another amendment and got it approved recently.

This is the current situation of mine. Can this situation rise any SEVIS issues during stamping Are there any cautions or some information that I need to know from DSO. Would that 1day of work on CPT cause any issues. Any suggestions and advises are highly appreciated. Thank you everyone who is here helping the people by sharing your experiences and suggestions.

Successful Visa Stamping @ Kolkata Consulate
Thank you all for the support I got from this forum. Here are the details of my visa interview:

Jan 17: Finger Printing (Bring DS160 final page and Kolkata Consulate Appointment details)
Jan 18: Visa Interview @ 9 o'clock. It was quite busy but I believe taking a morning appointment helps.
Jan 21: I received email about the passport pickup at my home city.

My Background: MS in Electrical Engineering from reputed USA University. My orginal H1B was transfered by my current company YYYY in 2015 and now, this was my H1B extension. All my jobs are in Electrical Engineering.

Visa Interview Questions:
1. How long have you been working with ZZZ?
2. Who filed your original H1B? Why did you change your job from previous company to ZZZ?
3. Tell me about job @ ZZZ?
4. What is your current salary?
5. Did you do your MS from USA? From where?
6. Do you have the information about your rights? I told here that I have the pamphlet. She laughed and asked me if I have READ it :)

Overall, it was a very smooth and easy interview. Be comfident and smile. If you have all your documents in order then I believe the process becomes a bit easier. My lawyer was very worried about my interview but it went smoothly.

Thank you!

Wife's H4 Visa stamped but status in Administrative Processing
My wife and I were eligible for drop box for H4 and H1B visa respectively.

Kolkata Consulate

24th Jan - Drop Box @ Kolkata VAC
29th Jan - My Passport (H1b) Ready for Pickup
               - My Wife's H4 - she received an email from consulate to appear for f2f interview.
31st Jan - Interview - VO asked qns about the company she was in when she was working on h1b ( it was a consultancy) - Interview went okay, but she was handed back the passport with a White 221g asking for more details viz Client Letter, Vendor contracts, etc.
However, her H4 Visa is already stamped on the passport , but her application status was updated to Administrative Processing.
Feb 1st - Emailed all the docs (no acknowledgement from Consulate )
Feb 6th - Emailed the docs again and also emailed the support-india DL after talking to the rep on the hotline number.
Feb 6th - Case Updated date updated to Feb 6th, but still in Admin Processing and no ack from Consulate.

Not sure what's going on, we have our tkts booked for travel back to USA on Feb 13th and I am not sure it will get updated till then :(

Has anybody come across this ?

F1 to OPT to H1B, Feb 1 at New Delhi
Hi All,

My background - MS in US from reputed university and currently working on H1B for a leading online retailer. Last year I got approval for 24M STEM OPT Extension. My company's lawyer withdrew it since by that time I already had my H1B approved.

I went for Visa Interview in Delhi on Feb 1. The VO asked a few questions -

-Do you directly work for company XYZ?
-What do you do?
-When did you graduate?
-Salary?

She mentioned there is a SEVIS conflict which is not uncommon in cases of F1 to H1B and that it would take up to two weeks to resolve. I contacted my university's DSO and she has raised a ticket with SEVIS to remove flags if any on my record. DSO mentioned from her experience such cases take a week to resolve.

Visa status shows Admin Processing and case last updated on interview date - Feb 1

Anyone in the same situation? Your advice/experience would certainly help!

H1-B Visa Stamping - Mumbai Consulate
Hello,
I have been in US since 2007 and switched jobs in Feb 2017, hence thought this is not my first H1-B Stamping, this is my first H1-B Stamping with the current employer.

I had my biometrics on Jan 17, 2019 at VAC Mumbai and my H1-B Visa Interview on Jan 22, 2019 at Mumbai Consulate.

The Visa Officer asked a few basic questions, kept my passport and said the Visa will be issued in a few days. It has been more than two weeks now and I haven't yet received my passport back though.

When I checked the Visa Application Status Online it says "Administrative Processing" with the last update on Feb 1, 2019. When I try to track my Passport Status Online, until yesterday (Wed Feb 6, 2019) morning it showed "Passport is still with Embassy/Consulate", however since last evening it says "No status update available for this passport".

Now I am really worried since it has been more than two weeks since the Visa Interview, and the Passport Tracking also does not show where my passport is.

Anyone with a similar experience? Is there is a way to check the status with the Mumbai Consulate?

I tried calling the US Travel Docs Customer Care, the automated message asks for a UID - what is a UID?

Any help/advice would be appreciated.
