Mumbai Dropbox
Hi,

Any applicants who dropped off at the Mumbai consulate have a similar experience?
Dropped off H1B, and H4 documents on 7th Jan. Case moved to Admin Processing on the 9th, and no change since. Been 14 working days with no update. The initial timeline was 10 days and I have had to cancel tickets once already.

H1B Minimum validity should exists in H1B Stamped visa to get into USA Port of entry from India?
Hi Friends,
Currently i am in USA, and I am having H1B Visa stamped till May 2019 on my passport.
I came from India in Dec 2018 after my vacation in India and after getting the stamping process done in India after 2 months. I am working in the EVC model.

I am planning to go to India in Feb 2019 for a personal reason and will be back in 3 days and bring my family with me.

1. Will it be any problem while coming into USA at the port of entry?
2. Will there be any issues during port of entry in Feb 2019, while stamped visa is expiring in May 2019?
3. Is there anything i should prepare during the port of entry questions or something like that?

Note: My passport is having more than 2 years validity and my employer is going to file H1B extension after i am back to USA.
Also my wife is in H4 and my child (USA Born) are coming along with me in Feb 2019.

Any advice please!!!

Thanks! Appreciate your time!!!

Chennai Consulate- H1 VISA interview
Hi friends,

I have attended VISA interview at Chennai Consulate on 7th Jan 2019. My interview slot was on 10 am. But I have reached consulate 2 hour early. Which was not necessary. But I would suggest to be available at least before 30 minutes. There will be huge crowd. Don’t be panic. You will definitely find some Security guards who will be announcing the entry slot. Also you can notice, there is board in which they would have displayed the entry slot details.

The questions are given below.

Questions to me
Me:Good morning and happy new year
VO:Good morning

VO: Passport please
Me:Handed over

VO: Name of Sponsor company
Me:ZZZ

VO: What does your employer do
Me:Explained

VO: Where are you going to work
Me: ZZZ, at my client place but in the payroll of my employer(xxx)

VO: Do you have any vendor between your employer and client
Me:No

VO: What does your client do
Me:Explained

VO: Explain about your project
Me:Explained

VO: What would be your designation
Me:Software engineer

VO: How much salary
Me: XXUSD per annum

VO: Show me your client Letter
Me: Handed Over

VO: When you have planned to travel
Me: By end of this month

VO: I will keep your client letter and passport. Congratulations!! Your visa is approved. Welcome to US.
Me: Thank you So much. Have a great day ahead!!

The whole process (starting from queue to VISA interview), it may take couple of hours. Make sure you have sorted all your documents and should have a content document which describes your sequence of your documents inside the file. It’s obvious thing, I was very much nervous before reaching the VISA interview counter. Don’t worry. There will be many security personnel, who will help you out to reach VISA interview counter. You can still hear VO’s questions which was asked to other candidates. Many of them selected and also many of them would be rejected. Don’t be confused. Only concentrate on your preparation and be confident. Whenever your time comes, listen carefully VO’s question, take 1-2 seconds times. Phrase your answer clearly (should be short answer) and answer with smile. I thought to share my experience which may would help you out.

I have attended the VISA interview on 7th Jan 2019, Received the message from Consulate on 8th Jan 2019(Passport is ready for collect). I have collected my passport back with VISA on 9th Jan 2019

All the very best!!

Mumbai dropbox
Hello,

I'm planning to dropbox at Mumbai in the next few weeks and would like to know if when planning to book the flight tickets from US, should I book round trip for one full month given that the approval time may vary up to 3 weeks as the http://www.ustraveldocs.com/in/in-niv-visarenew.asp website says in step 5?

Any guidance is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Visa interview in Canada
Hi folks,

I have my interview in Vancouver on Feb 14th. I have about 8 months left on my I-797A and my current H1B stamp has expired. Is there any risk involved in having only 8 months left on I-797?

Any experience to share by people here on the forum?

Administrative processing
Hi guys,

I just want to know if anyone else is in the same situation as me.

I switched to H1B status from OPT last October. I came home for my visa stamp in December. I was supposed to have my interview on Dec 5th but it was moved to Dec 14 due to President Bush's funeral. During my interview, the officer only took my h1b approval and asked my straight forward questions. He then asked me if I transition from undergrad to grad school and I said yes. Then he said that there is an error in my SEVIS record and he would need to fixed it in order to issue my visa. He also said its not a big deal and that it happens to most people that transitioned that way. He told me that he would let me know when my passport is ready for pick up. However, I still havent received any updates from them and my status still says admin processing. I have already missed two weeks of work and I am out of options. I did receive an email from the embassy on Jan 8th that my passport will be ready for collections in a couple of days however there has been no further communication after that. I have emailed several times and no reply.
