h-1b Visa interview, worried about recent job change and related wage increase
Hi All,

some quick background, I was on F1 OPT till end of September 2017, got H1B through first employer (~500 people startup), switched to a large tech giant in November 2017 after H-1B transfer was approved. My H-1b interview is coming up tomorrow, and i'm worried about the following.

1. Job title: My job title was Electrical Engineer, which changed to Software engineer(in Electronics department) at the new job, my question here is will there be any issues due to title change? will the VO grill me on this?

2. Wage increase: My salary went up by ~50%, can i say that I got a better positon and more responsibilities in the new job and hence the wage increase? do I need any documents for this?

please provide guidance on this, if possible?

H1B Extension Denied, what are my available options
Hello everyone,

here is my case details, kindly appreciate your help on this regard.

i came to states in August 2013 graduated in 2014 and was on OPT for 8 months then on h1b from October 2015. Initially i got h1b for 2.5 years, so my employer has applied for extension last month

my extension got denied for "specialty occupation" and my employer had refiled the application again.
my Initial h1b was already expired in march 2018. i took an admission in one of the university with new SEVIS on a safer side just in case if the new petition gets rejected by USCIS.

if the extension gets denied again, is it okay to cross the border and reenter the states?
i've a valid F1 VISA until august 2018(I haven't visited india ever since i came to states).
i've heard that, since i've valid f1 visa, i should be able to reenter the states with new I-20 without change of status from H1 to F1

here is my Question:

1. Since i have no other option left here, i am planning to cross the border(mexico) and reenter with new "sevis" .will i get any problems at port of entry(mexico border) as i have valid f1 visa for only 3 months?

2. Do i need re-appear for F1 VISA interview again back in India(this is a complex process again)?

Please let me know my possible options here.

Thanks in advance!

221(G) issued at H1B Chennai
I attended H1B(F1 to H1 cos) interview at Chennai and ended up getting 221(g).
Just generic questions asked

Who is your petitioner?
What does your employer do?
How many employees?
Who is the client?
Whats the highest degree?
Which university in the US?
What is the salary?
Are you on OPT?
Asked LCA, I129

started typing something for few mins and gave blue slip returning all docs along with the passport.
In the slip, document related to project was asked to be submitted.
"A detailed description of the project to which you will be assigned.
Include a complete technical description of the project, employer, timeline, current status, number of employees assigned, worksite location, and marketing analysis of the final product"

Does anyone have a template for the same? How many pages should it be?
It will be really helpful.

I have been refused visa under 221g with my previous employer in 2017 which happens to be a consulting company. I have been working in India for the past one year and now I have got a H1B approved petition with a company in U.S as FTE. What are my chances>

221(G) issued H1b Visa @ Chennai
Seems off late this is happening a lot, saw a lot of folks get Blue slip, **** scared now flight on 27th April I don't think I can make it. I was a L1 to H1 COS within US and came for my first stamping after being in US for 1 year on H1.

So here is what happened :-

VO: Who is your employer.
Answered

VO: Who is your petitioner?
Answered

VO: Do you have a vendor?
Answered: Yes

VO: Can I have client and Vendor letter?
Given

What is your highest qualification?
Told the same.

What is your salary?
Answered

VO: Can you give me your I797,I129,LCA.
GIven.

Gave me yellow slip and asked me to wait.

After 20 mins called me and gave back my passport and all documents and handed over blue slip and said no documents required your application is under administration processing.

Im so scared now, not that he gave me blue slip but he gave me back my Passport thats what scares me.

Anyone got the same? Is the possibility of refusal higher now?

H4 drop Box - CEAC status Refused
My spouse went for the drop box on Apr 5th'2018 at Chennai,India. They took all the documents and passport with them. On April 6th in CEAC website , the status showed as "Refused"

My employer collected the passport on Aug 9th on behalf of my spouse and the visa stamping is not done in the passport.

There is no slips or letter in the passport explaining the reason. I just dropped an email to consulate asking for the reason and waiting for their reply.

Anybody faced similar issue and any idea on this?

HYD Dropbox; Interview
Here goes my experience at HYD consulate

My last stamping was done in 2015 (FTE); Change of employer (FTE)and new passport. I was previously on F1 from reputed university. Education and work are in the same field. Under 6 years of H1. Always works in the field of education

4/2 - Dropped passport, previous 797 and current 797
4/3 - DS160 status updated ; Administrative Processing
4/6 - Received email from the consulate to attend interview
4/9 - Interview day
About 6 members in the same counter were rejected variety if visas including B1and H1 with white, green and no slips. VO asked me these questions
Do you work with <company name>?
What is your annual salary?
Which state do you live in?
What is your highest level of education?
Is your masters in CS? (I answered no and told him the field)

Though VO looked serious, I got nods all along; Interview was about 2-3 minutes in total.

He then said my visa is issued. I asked him when I can get my passport, he said 5-7 days but no guarantee.

4/10 - Admin Processing; Last updated changed to 4/10
4/11 - Passport status changed to ready for pickup with an email (SMS not received)
4/12 - Passport picked up

Before even I came for the interview and reading through forums, I was kind of sure they will call me for an interview (considering last stamping was about 3.5 yrs ago + new passport + new employer).

Though I had a clear case and was confident about the interview, when I saw many people getting rejected that day, I panicked a lot during my interview. No sugar coating, lot of wired questions asked by VO's (i did overhear some of them) and lot of people that day had their passports in hand (I think their visa is rejected)

Just be confident and it is always good to know the current trends. Every case is different and you know your case the best.

Happy stamping everyone!

H1B - 221g White Slip - HYD
I attended H1B interview today and it ended up with 221g white slip (Checked the 'Administrative Processing' Check box in white slip)

VO: Gud morning sir
Me: Gud mrng mam

VO: You work for YYYY company?
Me: Yes

VO: How do u know this employer
Me: Answered

VO: Which company you are currently working
Me: Answered

VO: Which city you will work in NJ
Me: Answered

VO: Can i see your i-797 & LCA
Me: Passed to her

She spent almost 5 min checking something in the system with LCA & i797 and went back to other officer with i-797 & LCA & discussed something by showing my LCA with the officer after that she took photocopy of i-797. Came back and said my application require some admin process & "If we were able to issue your visa we will email about required docs".

I have seen in previous post that AP will take apprx.60 days to process, will this be the same for all color's of 221g slip? I guess, in my case LCA info is the reason to issue white slip.

Any one have idea what are the LCA related AP that we can expect, Will their be any chance of visa refusal in my case?

Appreciate your input's.

Regard's
SUK
