H1B visa status says Refused on day on interview.
I had my H1b interview on April 23rd at Hyderabad and VO asked some basic questions about client and then took the passport and handed over 221g white slip and said it takes 1 week for administrative processing.

But I checked my status on same day and it says "Refused" . I have seen in couple of sites that "Refused " is the default status and it will update to "Administrative Processing" in few days. Please help me in getting some info in these type of cases.

Thanks!

H1B Approved with Administrative Processing @ Mumbai
I had my H1B interview on April 23. The visa got approved but the VO said they need to do some administrative processing on their end which will take about 10 days. I did my masters and was previously on OPT before starting H1B in October 2016.

Following are my questions:
1) Please pass passport and i797. So you work for XYZ?
2) What is your highest degree?
3) What do you do at XYZ?
4) Where are you located?
5) When did you graduate and from what University?
6) Were you on OPT? When?
7) Have you been outside of status?
8) What is intended date of travelling back - It is May 5th. Noted it down on a sticky note and stuck it on my passport.

VO then Visa is approved but admin processing on our end will take a few extra days. Usually it takes around 10 days, so for your travel I think you'll be fine, but we will let you know by email when passport is ready for pickup. Gave me a generic piece of paper saying you will receive an email when passport is ready.

I am worried. I exactly have 10 working days including interview day before I travel back. Plus, I heard it takes much longer. Anybody else in the same boat?

Thanks!

H4 drop box- 221g Admin Processing
My Wife went for H4 drop box in Chennai and during passport collection visa was not stamped and online CEAC status showed "Refused" . I dropped an email to Chennai consulate and after 10 days they replied with 221g slip mentioning to appear for interview and the CEAC status changed to "Admin Processing"

The only option checked in the 221g is "Appear for interview" and no other documents is requested.

Anybody faced the similar case? Since no other documents are requested what could be asked in the interview?

11 April - Case updated for Administrative Processing.
13 April - Received email for passport collection.
15 April - Passport collected with 221G to attend interview & fingerprints.
16 April - Attended interview & officer Approved the visa
17 April - Visa status was changed to issued also recieved email for passport collection
18 April - Passport collected.

Interview:
VO : Ah you work for YYYY ?
me : yes
VO: how long you are working for this company?
me : 3 years
VO: what is your salary?
me : YYYY (well above the minimum wage)
VO: what is your total experience ?
me : 11 plus.
VO : where is your office Location ?
me : YYYY
VO: what is your Highest Degree ?
me: Masters in Information Technology.
VO : Information technology ! (stressed on information technology probably if it was anything not related to IT or computer, i might have different outcome.)
VO: What project you are working ?
me: i am an fulltime employee. VO interrupted - So you are working inhouse ?
me Yes.
VO: How long you are married Mam ? (question for my wife)
Wife: YYYY
VO : Your Visa is approved.

Based on my experience, if you are working in house as direct employee and your education is related to IT computers and your salary is good, you should have no problems else they will put you in administrative processing demanding extra documents and client letters and there could be delays.
This is just my view based on my experiences and some of my other friends and not an expert advice.

Good Luck !

H1B stamping in Germany/Frankfurt
I have been following this forum for a while and it helped me a lot through my experience. Now, it is my time to give back to this community.
My background: I am working as a design release engineer for automotive supplier (direct hire). I hold a master degree in electrical engineering from the US and my H1B started in October 2017. Below are details of my experience:

- 05/February/2018: My interview was at German consulate in Frankfurt (I am a German citizen). The consulate officer mentioned that I have overstayed my student visa and she will need me to provide her with my previous I-20s to clear the hit in the database. I was handed a yellow slip with the consulate email address. The officer kept my passport and didn't ask for any additional documents,
- I went back home and emailed pdf copies to the consulate on the same day.
- My company sent me to work from their office in northern Germany
- It took more than two months for the consulate to issue my visa.

02/02/2018: Case created
02/05/2018: Case changed to Administrative Processing (AP)
04/13/2018: My case last updated status changed but still in AP
04/16/2018: Visa status changed to issued

It was a really difficult time for me. I didn't know what is the next step for me. I have a house and a car in the US and I didn't know whether I will be ever allowed to travel back to the US.

I read many comments here that you should be confident in the interview, etc.. I believe, prior to the interview the officer knows whether to approve or deny the visa. However, it is always good to be confident. I wish everyone here good luck here.
