H1B, H4 Visa

My wife and I attended H1B interviews (seperately). We were sent to the same counter and young Indian VO conducted our interviews. Following are the questions asked during interview

Purpose of the trip?
what do you do for the company?
Tell me about your company?
Your job title?
highest qualification?

and one more weird question to wife - Are you OK with the current salary?

That's it and our Visas were approved.

Hi, Me and my wife attended for H1, H4 visa stamping at Hyd consulate on 06 Jan 15. VO asked for petition, LCA and Client letter, submitted the docs on spot. Asked to wait in the lobby, after 40 mins she called us and issued 221g white with ticked on additional admin processing required.
1. When can I expect an email/call or status update of my case, approx?
2. Is anybody there with admin processing cases, still waiting who had their interview in Dec-2014 or Jan -2015?

Ofter 20 Minutes they called me with my Name to another counter where there is a Indian Officer is there.

I VO : Give me WhaT other Documents Do you Have ?
Me : Given Offer Letter and Itenary.
I VO : Asked me to wait for Some time.
Me : Okay Sir Thanq you.

Ofter 20 Minutes I got a call from Main VO where i have given the actual Interview

VO: Unfortunately Iam not issuing visa now Until the verification process is done.we will contact you through email.Once the Process is done you need to submit the passport. Given 221g White Slip.and tick the 1st check Box.
Me : Thanq you and How long it will take mam.
VO : I cant give guarantee
Me : Okay Mam Thanq you.
VO: Thanq you Have a Nice Day.

Can any One please tell me chances of getting Visa ? iam very tensed about this. Is there any Visa Rejection Chances for H1B cases ? i heard that in H1 b there is no chances for rejection only queries are there...

Please give reply to me... And How Long it will take to clear all the process......your response is valueble for me..

I attended H1B visa interview on 14th Nov and got 221G blue sheet asking me to email few documents. I replied them on December 24th. Today I got a mail from "Chennai H&L" Team attaching a new 221G form. Nothing is mentioned in the form.
The checkbox "Please submit your passport at your nearest VAC" is checked.

Anyone, please let me know whether it is a positive or negative sign. I am very tensed now.

The counsulate is leave for the next 5 days too..

My appointment was rescheduled from 11AM to 2:30PM. I guess everyone who had their H1B interview yesterday had recieved a rescheduled mail since everyone in the line was carrying the printout of rescheduled mail from USCIS. There was a very long queue but it was moving quickly and I finished by interview around 2:20PM.

  I have few questions regarding H1b visa.

1. My start date and end date as per I797 is 01st Oct 2014 to 30th Sep 2015 (1 yr)
I am going to attend Visa interview only on 02nd Feb 2015.
Whether my visa validity will be from 02nd Feb 2015 to 30th Sep 2015 or 1 year from the approval of visa?

2. Suppose if my Sponsor is willing to extend my H1b visa before expiry when am in US, Do i need to attend Visa interview again or it is sufficient to submit the documents alone.

3. Port of entry date will be differnt then the visa dates? What is the probability?

4. My L1B got rejected in Aug 2013. Will this have any impact in H1B visa interview? If the visa officer ask the reason for rejection what i need to say? Rejection reason given in I129 is 'Not Clearly approvable'.

Dear All thank you for sharing your experiences, its really helpful.

I had attended OFC at Chennai along with my wife, it was scheduled for 2.30 and we reached there by 1.30. You can always go just 15mins prior your appointment time, they will be having 2 queues outside the OFC for appointment, with gap of 30mins.

The Next day We had interview at10.00AM.
We reached there by 9.00AM, there were 2 queues by that time - 9.30 & 10.00.
Around 10.10 they allowed us to join the another queue around 10.30 we finally entered US Consulate.

10.40 we have been given Token and asked to wait for turn.

Around 11.30 We got our token number displayed for given counter -

I'd like to add my experince to the list here.

I attended my biometrics on 12th Jan at OFC Chennai, Teynampet. I had booked a Taxi from TaxiforSure-04460601010 and reached just in time. Exactly 15 mins before the atual appointment.
OFC chennai makes you stand outside their office in queue and has sign boards that let you know where exactly to stand for various appointments. There are a lot of trees around and it was quite shady at 2 pm. At exactly 2pm, the applicants were allowed to go inside after having checked their original passport, DS160 COnfirmation and appointmnet letter.

Inside the OFC, i was asked to provide my biometric signature and the whole process got over in exactly 10 mins.
Key takeaways from OFC: Reach just in time! Please do not rush or panic and reach hours ahead in time.
Even if you are late, they let you go inside. During my process, a lady arrived for 1 pm appointment at 2pm and was asked to go inside directly.

PAI: I had my visa interview today and yet again i opted for Taxiforsure. I reached just in time (8.45am for 9am appointment). There was a serpentine q near the consulate. Applicants whose appointments were 2-3 hours ahead had also arrived early and queued in causing a lot of inconvienence and discomfort to the actual appointment candidates. All such individuals' appointment letter was scanned and were asked to leave the q and come back later.

Apparently, a batch contains 150 members and they allow 10 people to go inside at a time. We were asked to Q according to our appointment time and were frisked thoroughly for any electronic items/food/water/handbags etc. (there is a little shop outside the consulate- where the Q is formed after doc verification that allows applicants to store their goods.It is a petty shop and a lot of people did actually store in his locker).
After the frisking, the applicant is allowed inside and biometrics are verified. After this, the applicant goes inside and collects a token which is used for lining up at the interview counter.

My interview-
VO: Hello

VO: Visa approved!
The whole process from outside the gate to the approval of visa took exactly 18 mins!

The adjoining interviews were audible and VOs are very considerate in nature. They at all times are very polite and helpful. In fact all the staff and help at the consulate very considerate and helpful at all times.

Key TAkeaways:
1. Please dont crowd the area by coming way earlier than your appointment times. It causes disturbance anxiety and chaos to everyone around!
2. Arrive just in time (10-15 mins early)
3. The whle process of Biometrics and PAI is very efficient and convenient and has been a hassle free experience. It is very applicant friendly. There is help available at all time, so please do not panic.
4. There's nothing to be nervous about! Its a visa interview. You are there because your organization thinks you deserve to work for them, so be confident!
5. VOs are not demons and wouldnt bite. They inquire more only because they have not understood what your job entails and that doesnt mean you hit the panic button.
6. There is a water fountain and a washroom available inside the consulate, where the main interviews happen.

my I797 has some mistake,about major/skills,though it is given correclty in i129,so what should i do now.

My wife went for my H1-B stamping at US Consulate in Mumbai on 10-Dec-2014 and got 221(g)white slip asking Client letter and contract letter between her employer and end client. VO did not ask other questions. We are still arranging the docs and yet to reply to the query. We got married after her visa interview. I already have H1-B stamped in Oct-2014, in India currently and about to fly to US in 10 days; We have few queries:

1) Can my wife process H4 and fly along with me? Will it affect her 221(g) clearance process any way?

2) If she can apply for H4 visa then does she need to come back to India for re-interview and stamping or can she file status change H4->H1 being in US(once 221(g) query is resolved).

Please suggest if you know about this or if you had such experience in past.
