Thanks to immihelp for sharing h1 experience. It helped a lot in confidence and prepare for organize documentation.
1. MY OFC schedule on NOV 14 at 4:00pm and Visa interview on NOV 15 at 9:30 am.
2. Train to Chennai Central by Lalbaugh Express on Nov 14 started at 6:50 from K.R.Pooram. Reached Chennai Central 12:15 pm.
3. Stayed at Hotel Central Tower near Chennai Central Station in Deluxe AC room per night 2000. AC does not work on generated. It is OK-OK hotel at this price.
4. Catched Auto to OFC at 2:00 pm and reached there by 2:20pm. Fare =200.
5. at OFC , not much crowd, so they allowed even if my appointment was at 4 pm. Gate keeper asked for Passport, DS-160 and Appointment letter. You better staple DS-160 and Appointment letter. OFC counter checked only Passport, DS-160 and Appointment letter. Very simple.
6. NOV 15, I went to US consulate by Auto, fare - 150. Reached early at 8:10 am. A big queue. One person checking the timing in front of queue. When I reached at front it was 8:30am. He asked me to wait as he allowed only 8:30 and 9:00 am appointment.
7. At 9:10 am, when all 8:30 and 9:00 am appointment were done, He asked for Passport, DS-160(stumped at OFC centre) and appointment letter.
8. Then a another queue for Securtiy checking, Do not take pen drive, CD or mobile phone otherwise you will asked to deposit them at place in the path of queue. I did not carry any of those things
9. Inside, one more round of security check. i got a slip with number YYYY at a front counter, I guess counter number = 7. They asked for Passport, DS-160.
10. Then slip number is displayed on monitor for counter 8. They again take Passport, DS-160. They wrap both of them and asked to go to counter 12.
11. Counter 12, an american lady asked for left 4 finger print.
12. Then go to another nearby buildling for Visa. Number were displayed on LCD. I could see counter 25 person was taking class of many person. I was just frightened.
13. My number was displayed after 15 minutes for counter 18.
14. Person was an american Gentleman asked following question
a. Company name
b. How many employee
c. Which client
Me: I will be working at company head quarter at ZZZ. (mine is internal project)
d. What is project
Me: It is liferay projct, prorlet technology
e.what is portlet
Me: Yahoo page has many protelt..try to explain more, But he stopped me.
f. You will get visa in a week.
15. Back to hotel by paying 200 to auto rickshaw.
I am keeping finger crossed as many people were asked to provide more documentation even if they are told that it was approved

H1B Stamping in Chennai on Nov 14
Hello All,
Thanks for all your inputs, it was very helpfull. Now is my time to share the same.
I had my appointment setup @ 7.30 AM,14th Nov. My OFC appointment was on 11th Nov
I reached the consulate @ 7:15 AM and joined a longer queue. Security walks up and down and calls out people who have interview @ 7.30 (or the current batch). There were queue on both the sides of the entrance to the consulate. I had joined the one towards the BusStop in mount Road. A personnel checked my DS160 confirmation and tick marked the Appointment Time in Appointment letter and asked me to join a shorter a queue towards the other side of the entrance. I initially though may be i should have joined the shorter queue directly - but there was another checking the Appointment letter,DS160 confirmation page and was looking for the tick mark the guy made in the other queue and if not there he was sending people back to the queue (one near bus stop).This might take addition 5 mins. In other words: join the longer queue, they will check the timing and direct you to the shorter queue where only the current batch waits.
There was frisking, checking of the file folder and any envleope. then i was directed to wait fo the counter in the building 1. The indian personnel checked my passport, DS160 form,I797 approval - scanned them and stuck a bacode sticker to my passport and put a rubber band around the passport and DS160 form. Now I was asked to move to a counter where my finger print was taken by an American personnel. Once after this, I was asked to move Building 2.
There will be enough help and guidance to move, seat us once we are inside the consulate. No worries
Once in building 2, There is restroom facility , drinking water if you need.
I was asked to take seat in the building 2 and in about 10 minutes joined a queue for the appoinment with VO.
Here are the qns asked:
VO: GM
I: GM,how do you do
VO:Who is your employer
I: I work for X and I got an employment offer from company Y based out of USA and I plan to work for them
VO: How big is your comany Y, how may ppl work in USA for them?
I: answered
VO: What is your job there?
Answered: Talked about my title, client and short description of what i am going to do
VO: Can you give me your peition papers
I: passed 797,LCA
VO: Can you plz pass the entire documenation
I: I did
VO scanned through the document and asked about the project
I explained in detail about the same, my responsibility
VO: Is there direct contract between Y and cleint
I: answered
VO: How did you know about Y?
I explained
I am approving your visa, it will take 2 minutes. after few secs: it is approved you will get ur passport in a week

Nov 15- visa approved chennai
Hi everyone,
Want to share my visa experience. Hope it will be helpful. Visa interview on nov15 @7:30 chennai , ofc done on nov4th @ hyderabad.
1) Reached consulate by 6:30 am. Waited till 7:15 am and they let me in.
2) scanned documents and OFC check and again took finger print
3) my number flashed in counter 21. There was a young lady, mid 20s she asked the following questions
- wch company?
- wch client?
- do u have a vendor or direct?
- latest paychecks?
Done visa approved. Interview was less than 30secs.
As everyone says, smile, stay cool and confident.

Hyderabad H1B Visa Approved - accompanied by spouse and wife (H4)
My visa appointment got scheduled at 9:00 AM on 14 Nov 2012. I accompanied with my family.
We reached to consulate by 8:00 AM. There were around 50+ persons standing in a line and they all scheduled for 8:30 AM. Just after few mins.. they allowed to went inside and we were waiting in the queue. Security person came to us and asked my wife to take seat as she was carrying our child. I waited for 30 mins in line and my wife was sitting and they allowed us to enter into consulate by 8:30 AM. Before 30 mins to my PA time.
Once we went in.. there was a security person checking for Passports and DS 160 forms to make sure 9:00 AM appointment persons to went in. Then there was a security check, bags, mobiles or electronics goods are not allowed. make sure you will not carry them. Security check will be done very quick.
There were 20 persons waiting in a queue to verify all documents related to our Visa. They skipped queue asked us to move directly to counter as we have baby.
After verifying our documents, she asked us to move counter 9 for finger print validation, again they skipped us queue directly went to VO counter.
VO interview as follows :
Me : Good Morning Sir (with smile on face and lot of inner tension as visa previous to me was rejected. It was F1.)
VO : Good Morning.
VO: Looking at my wife and said Hi Madam
Wife : Hi
VO to me: When is you date of marraige
Me : (I could not recollect it because of tension and my wife helped me with the data. VO did not observe it.) replied the answer
VO: In which company are you going to work in US.
Me : Replied with client company name
VO : Are you periminent roles of your client
Me : No Sir, I am going to work from <Current Company Name> to <Client company Name>
VO : Ok fine
VO: What are you going to work on.
Me : I am a developer in Java and J2EE and I will be going to work my client application with this technologies.
(My kid started crying.. )
VO: Your Visa is approved

Hi,
My interview was on 7th Nov 2012 at the US consulate in New Delhi in which I was told that my visa is approved, I had filled the premium courier service VFS form for passport delivery, Can anybody please let me know how to track my passport or if I can collect it from a particular place.

Passport not Received (urgent)
Hey Guys,
I am in huge worry right now. I had my H1B interview on 7th Nov and it was approved.
Now i still dint get my passport. I have not paid 300 rs so my delivery would be under normal one but still its been more than a week.
Any body is in the same queue. My status is shosing as ORIGINATION SCAN.
Please let me know if somebody is in the same queue. I am from Bangalore

On 9 th november i attended h1b visa at calgary,canada.
i went to embassy around 7:40 as i am having appointment at 8:00AM..
1) security check.
2) Finger prints section.
3) Next they called me for VIsa interview.
1) are you hanging your employer now? I told yes.
2) Then he verified my assport as i am having already h1b and L1 visa stampings.But i never been to US.
3) After verifying my passport he asked how many countries you worked till date? I told 4(canada,paris,uk,sweden).
4) he told your visa approved and your passport will come to Loomis office.
