Re: Visa Validity
You are good to travel and enter USA on or before you visa validity date.
What your employer meant is the duration of your stay in USA will be decided by the date of entry to the USA. Meaning, you can extend your stay in USA beyond the date in your VISA, subject to 6 years total duration in a normal H1B petition.

Visa Stamping from Foreign Country
Hi,

I am in strange fix. I got onsite oppurtunity and I landed up in Sweden. I called Sweden consulate and asked if I can go for stamping from here. They said that I can do that. I blocked my visa data in Stockholm embassy. There are many doubts I have.

1. How many days it takes for the passport to come?
2. I will be in office and door will be locked for most part of the day. will it be like a normal post which they will slide into the door. Or a physical presence necessary?
3. Anyone had this kind of experience? What kind of questions are expected?

Thanks.

3) Visa officer had gone through my documents and my passport.I had enough onsite experiences.
4) She asked my name,my current organistaion and the countries i have visited.
5) I answered and she entered something in the system and after few seconds she asked me the project detail and Tax reports of my US employeer.
5) I sadi i am not holding those documents.
6) She gave me 221(g) blue form.
7) I was not worried much ..i came out cooly and return back to bangalore.
8) I have collected the documets from my US employeer and sub, itted on 1st December in VFS office bangalore.
9) 19th december i have received my passport with H1B.

Few Observations in Chennai Counsulate
Be cool before entering into the counsulate and even if ur delay in ur timings they will allow by checking ur timing so not need to get tensioned.
Carry all necessary documents with u....and not need to worry abt the Visa officers they are cool.
Answer to ther questions clearely watever it is.
If they issues 221(g) no issues submit the forms and stay...u will get it....

Attended H1B Interview on 18th Dec
Hi All,
Firstly, thanks to all for posting their experiences and a special thanks to those who have prepared (or posted) the FAQ's. They were very much helpful.

VO asked me only 4 q's...here are they....

1Q. What you do in your current company?

2Q.Can I see your Edu original degree certificate?

3Q.Are you going to work for Client project or Inhouse project?

4Q.Did ur employer gave any tax doc's? If so, show me?

After this...i got dis-appointed :(...reason was....he started to tick several documents in the the 221(g)form.

....What i feel is...VO din't had enough time to go through the doc's wh'h i've placed infront of him...and hence he had asked me to drop them at VFS.....

REQUEST ANY ONE TO SHARE THEIR THOUGHTS....DO WE NEED TO DROP THOSE DOC'S ALONG WITH THE PASSPORT?

PLEASE ADVISE....EVEN you can mail me [email protected]...

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ALL OF YOU....
Every one in this site are contributing a lot to the people like me who are appearing the consulate for the first time..

Looking forward for the answer for my clarification...

Bye have a good day..
Suresh.
