Sucessful stamping Nov 24th Chennai
My wife and I had sucessful stamping at chennai on the 24th of this month. It was a second time H1 stamping for both of us. Both of us are Physcians. Our appt time was at 9:15am. We reached Stars and stripes lounge at 8:30am. After a preverification of documents, the VFS guy informed us that our photos were no good( both taken in the US). So we got it done again at the lounge. We left in the shuttle at 9:45 and reached embassy in 5 minutes. There was 1/2 km line outside the embassy, but we were made to stand near the entrance. After checking our appointment letters and passports, they let us in for security check. Guys separate entrance and gals separate entrance. Here is where I was really irritated. I had arranged all documents in order in a folder. For the guys, they were making us remove all documents out of the folder and dump it on the table for them to check. This place was chaotic, no place to rempve our documents properly, people pushing from back, many people dumping their documents at the same time on the table. High chances of documents getting mixed with the next person in line if you are not careful. For the girls, they were checking the documents in the folder itself. After this we were in a building with 8 counters where they were fingerprinting, checking documents and putting the necessary documents in the blue folder. after this the majority of people went to adjacent building( including my wife) where there were a few counters with VO for the interviews. I had my interview in the same building where one counter was occupied by VO. My interview was like this:

VO: Good morning sir

Me: Good morning, how are you and handed over the blue folder.

VO: after looking in the folder and computer, So you did your masters?

Me: Yes

VO: When did you take your USMLE?

Me: Answered

VO: So you changed your job in July?

Me: I finished residency in June and started my current Job in july.

VO: Ok, your passport will arrive in a week.

Me: Thank you

That was it for me, eventhough I was intially asked to go to adjacent buliding, a Embassy guy had stopped me and dirceted me to thios counter. This VO rejected two cases in front of me. One was H1 and other H4. She asked them for W-2 for 3 years and pay slips for 8 months. She scrutinized their application very thoroughly. She was asking both the candidates about how they/their husband filed for only 15k in taxes when they needed to have made much more. So they got a blue slip each with instructions to submit all the relevant documents.

My Wife's Interview was also simple. They did not ask a single document from her too. The VO where my wife had her interview had approved all visas who were ahead of her. They asked my wife just some general questions.

My brother in law got his visa on the 25th. He is a S/W eng in a big company and they did not ask any documnts from him too.

I think only people with small consulting firms with employment not available all 12 months will face some challenges. People continously employed with all documents will not have any problems.

Best of luck to everyone.

Got stamping at Chennai Consulate on 17th Nov
Hi All,

Got stamped with H1B with less questions and documents. I have unused B1 visa with me from the current employer. I carried almost all the document from my side as well as from the company side (about 2 1/2 Kgs)

My appointment was fixed at 10:00 and reached at 9:30 AM. Stood in the long line waiting out side the consulate for the security to call 10 o'clock batch.

When my turn came, after security check entered the verification counter hall. Where I my documents ds-156, ds-157, passport and I-797 form and he put them in order. Then finger print process and handed over a file with all those documents in it. Asked me to move to the next building for H1B.

In the next buliding the crowd was less and I was direct to one among the 3 officers. I was waiting for my turn about 5 mins. Then I moved in for my trun.

ME: Good morning sir. (and unloaded my documents before me)
VO: Good morning (Busy with my documents and the computer)
VO: What type of project you gonna work there, internal or ..
ME: Client's project
VO: Who is the client
ME: ---.com
VO: Do you have the client's letter with you
ME: Yes. I have
VO: (took his coffee mug and read the whole letter and gave it back) after 2 mins what's you roll there
ME: I started --- -- -- -- -- ----- - ----
VO: enough .. your passport will be couriered in one week's time
ME: Thanking you sir
VO: (he replied something ...)

My advise is be cool, with "0" reactions and dont ping your head into -- what he is doing. Be confident even what ever you carry with you or not at all.
