Got H1B visa
Hi all,
First of all thanks to the people who shared their experiences with us in this valuable immihelp.com.
I used to read the experiences posted here frequently and this had helped me in preparing well for the interview.
Below is my experience in CHENNAI Consulate.
My interview time scheduled at 10.30am. I reached the US consulate office in Chennai by 9.30am. I reached a security who was standing at the very beginning of the office. He checked my interview time and asked me to come by 10.15am. Then i was waiting in the nearby bus-stop. Then by 10.15am i went to the front gate directly without standing in the queue.
Then inside the building, i've been checked twice by security guys.
Next i've been asked to stand in a queue for arranging the docs in blue folder and for finger prints. Pleaze note that there are 11 counters over here and in all counters almost INDIANS are working. After collecting the blue folder from that counter, a security guy asked me to go to the VISA interview building. At any point of time, be relax and cool. Dont be nervous.

Inside the building i've been asked to stand in a zig-zag queue for the final round of interview. From here i'm able to see all the counters & hear the conversation between the candidate & the VO. So, please be prepared yourself to grasp the question asked by VO while you are in the queue. This may help you in preparing last minute answers, but at the same time be smiley. Because VOs could see the people standing in line.

Finally my turn comes up and now i was standing in front of the VO. Below is my conversation with VO.
ME: Good morning sir. How are you?
VO: Good morning. How are you doing?
ME: Doing good sir.
VO: What is your qualification?
ME: Bachelor's degree in Engineering specialization in Information Technology.
VO: Which year did you pass out?
Me: Apr-xx.
XO: Which University?
Me: MKU
VO: What is your project?
ME: xxx
VO: Is it a client project?
ME: No sir. It is an in-house project of company ZZZ.
VO: Do you have any project docs?
ME: Yes sir. I handed over the docs to VO.
VO: What is your roles & responsibilities in this project?
ME: blah-blah.. While i was answering he refered to some architecture diagram in the project docs.
Then he entered some thing in his computer. After 3 minutes, he said the Golden words.
VO: Visa is granted. Your passport will be couriered within 7 days.
ME: Thank you sir.
VO: Have a nice day
ME: Thanks. Have a nice day.

------------------------
3 important points for the H1-B aspirants:
1. Don't go before 30 mins of your interview time as you have wait in the nearby bus-stop unnecessarily. If your appointment time is 9.30 means, please go at 9.15, so that you can enter the consulate without waiting in a long queue. While doing this don't blindly follow the queue standing outside. Enquire some security person over there and enter into the building directly.
2. At any point of time, dont loose your hope.
Be Confident and always smile at others.
3. Have an eye-contact to the VO, even he is not looking at you.
------------------
Thats all. Then the Visa is yours.
I attended visa interview on 5-june-2008. I went there by 9.30am and came out of the consulate by 11.15am.

Cheers...!!!

got my H1B on 5th June
I had Visa interview on 5th of June @11.30, prior to this i had gone through this site several times and read each and every experiences i have prepared well for the interview, also my employer also gave lots of tips to me.

So on 5th june I reached consulate office by 10 clock, allowed me inside @10.15.

I have placed all the documents separately in the file, so it was easy for me to give all the required documents to be kept in blue folder. So the officer placed the documents and took my finger printing.

Then they sent me to the office were interview conducted, since i had $100 reciept i had to purchase $31 DD and gave the DD in the counter there. Immediately after that i went for interview. VO looked very calm. Here is the interaction b/n me and VO which lasted within 5 min.
VO: Hello
me: good morning
I gave him blue folder. Had a look at it.
VO: Give the degree certificate.
I gave him my degree certificate.
After checking my degree certificate VO asked for work experience.
I gave him all my work experience documents. He took 3 minutes to analyze, and then with smile in his face told me Visa granted, I couldnt hear him properly, asked him again, He confirmed me the result.

Next day evening i recieved my passport with H1B stamp.

I never ever thought interview will be so easy for me. But still I am thankful to this site, which gave me lot of confidence. Believe me I was not BEP candidate, It is surprised me that they never asked me reagarding my employer. It is all luck I guess.
