I attended H1 B visa interview on 14 of this month at Chennai. VO checkd all my academic cetificates and asked regarding the project that i am going to work. Later he isseued 221(g) form and mentioned to submit the tax papers and other documents of the petitioner via vfs drop box. In that form he mentioned not to submit the passport.Does it mean my visa has been rejected? Can any one give information regarding this.
do we need to take fresh print outs or can we drop the same DS-156 & D-157 forms in VFS office if no modifications are to be made to the document as im not able to retieve the forms from the site. It says "the receipt has been already used". Please clarify this.
Hi
I am appearing for H1 Interview on 20th Nov in Mumbai consulate. Do I need to carry Petitioner's IT returns for last 2 tax years and financial statement along with me? Which documents do they refer to at the time of interview?
Thanks.
Hello Everyone,
I'am greatly indebted to all the ppl who share thier interview exp over here, as surfing through those experiences gave me good clarity on the DO's and DOnt's at the Consulate.
Both me and my wife got appointments for H1 on the same date and time and also at the same consulate , and that is 2nd Nov 07 at 9:15 AM at Chennai . Both of us filed seperate petition and hence 2 applications.
We went to the consulate by 8:30 AM , and were immediately directed to the Pre-screening Area after preliminary verificaiton of our Appointment Letter and also Passpot.
We waited at the PRE-Screening Area for about 15 to 20 mins and then got our documents validated again .
We were then directed to the main office at the other building , and then after getting inside it took us about 10 minutes for our Finger print scan . After which we stood in other queue, wherein it took about 1 hour. There were only 2 counters operating , with 1 Male VO and other female VO decicated for H1 Interviews.
We had to hold our nerves for almost an hour in the queue ,as most of the applicants got a Blue Slip on that day. So, I was a bit sceptic on our chances.
Finally it was our turn , my wife went to the counter where the Male VO was taking interviews, and I went to the other at the same time.
My wife just took only about 2 minutes to complete her interview and she came out from the counter greatly releived and with a smiling face. I was still in the queue. Here comes my turn.
Me: Hello, Good Morning, How are you doing?
VO: I'am doing good, how about you?
Me: Good , thanks
Passed my DS-156 and DS157 and my passport.
VO: So,How long have u been working with YYYY Company?
ME: 2 Years
VO: She started looking at her computer and started typing few things
Her Pen was kept next to the Blue Slip papers, my heart started pounding , everytime she lifted her pen kept next to the Blue Papers :-)
VO: So , how did you approach this YYYY consultant in US?
ME: Ma'm , my Brother In Law , who stays in New Jersey has forwarded my resume to YYYY.
VO: Again starts looking at her computer and every now and then lifts her pen ,next to the Blue Slip and puts it back there. My nervousness increases.
VO: So , R u going to work for this YYYY or a client ?
ME: Client
VO: Can you show me the Client Contract and your offer letters,I-797 , I-129 please?
ME: Passed them
VO: Again looks at her computer , and picks up her pen. She takes about 5 minutes
VO: So, what is the work, that you will be doing for the client?
ME: Explained the project with full confidence.
VO started looking at the signatures of my client offer letter
VO: So how did you get these letter, was it through post or through email?
ME: through EMail ma'm( a bit loudly)
VO: Smiles
VO: DO you have any other papers from the client, like Wage Un-employment report or anything else?
ME: No, ma'm I only have thier Tax Papers , but not Wage Un-employment report.
VO: Ok, pass that
ME: Passed it
VO: Started looking at all the other documents once more, intermittently picking up her pen(kept on the blue slip) .....
Me: Heart Beat goes up and up .....
Then came the golden words...
VO: I'am granting your Visa , you will get your passport with the Visa in a weeks time.
I somehow had a feeling at the consulate that , it is decided , well before we attend the interview , whether to grant us the Visa or not.
Anyways, we need to do our homework :
1. Gather all the information about the project, with every minute detail about it.
2. Make sure that your Employer sends you all the required documents and support documents, in addition should also send you "Wage Unemployment Report" and his "Tax Papers".
Presently i am working in xxx company which is in delhi. But my client is in Bangalore(TOP MNC).SO i am staying in Bangalore from past 2 years. Now i resigned from that YYYY comapny and joioned n YYY(TOp MNC) company 3 months back in Bangalore.
At the time of my pitition i mentioned YYYY company as my present employer.
If i show that YYYY employer is my present employer can i attened the interview in Delhi?
But my pitioner was from hyderabad. In my pitition form my consulate is chennai.
can i attened interview in Delhi?
Why i am asking is if i put my latest YYY company in experience i can show only 3 months of exp proof.VO might ask y u r leaving present job with in 3 months.
So please suggest me.
I have to go chennai or delhi?
please suggest me.please
Pleas let me know if u need any clarifications.please
Successful Interview at Chennai Consulate on Nov 14 2007
First of all , thanks a lot for all who shared there experiences here in this wonderful forum that helped me a lot to complete the interview successfully by God's grace.
I reached the US consulate one hour(7.00 AM) before the scheduled time(8.00 AM), and joined a very long queue.
Here I am explaining my experience step by step:-
1) Verification of Passport and Appointment letter was done by the security before sending inside the consulate.
2) Security check again for any unwanted document , if we are carrying.
3) Joined a queue pointed by one floor boy (to direct the applicants inside consulate) where they asked for HDFC Reciept, DS-157,DS-156,Appointment letter,I-797 , LCA and I129 .The photo on DS-157 was scanned and asked me to write my name in my native language in a box on DS-157 Form and returned all the documents in a GREEN folder.
4) The floor boy directed me to another building , where again I joined a queue of Non-immigration Visa applicants for finger scanning. The left and right index fingers were scanned and asked to join other queue to meet the Visa officer.
5) Four VOs were taking interviews in different counters and Officer whom I met was a cool man and our conversation is as mentioned below :
ME : Good Morning officer
VO : Good Morning Sir
Parallely I gave the GREEN Folder , from which he took documents along with my passport and checked something in his Computer.
VO : Can you show me your degree certificate .
I passed my degree certificate along with the mark sheet and he took a minute to go through that.
VO : Can you show me your other Visa ?
This question put me into a little confusion and immediately I understood that, since my degree is of Staffordshire University, UK , he thought that I had gone out to UK sometime back to do my degree course.
ME : Sir, I did my degree from an Institute in Harayana State of India and that is a Malaysian based Institute collaboration with Staffordshire University , UK.
VO : Oh !! (Going through my mark sheets calmly).
VO verified all the mark-sheets and degree certificate properly .
VO: How many students were there in your batch ?
ME : We were 35 students as the first batch and now the Institute is running in an extensive mode.
I told him that , if you want the URL of my institute I can give you , for which he didn't reply and was continuously typing something in his computer.
VO: Are you Married or Single sir ?
ME : I am single.
Then I expected more questions about the job, company etc and was waiting eagerly to answer with my documents I was carrying.
Then that golden words came
VO: I am approving your Visa , sir and will send back your passport in courier,Thank You.
ME: Thank You (With too much of excitement).
The interview just took some 3 to 4 mins.
The only thing to remember is to be confident, Listen the question carefully and answer only the required points.
