Succesful H1B stamping in chennai 17th Nov
Hi All,

First of all Thanks to all who have posted there experience.

I have been waiting quiet long to post this message. I have been reading all the messages in this forum for the past 3-4 months

My profile:

3+ years strong experience in IT as a Software Engineer
Currently working in a very reputed MNC for more than 2+ years.

Please find below how my interview went on:

My interview timing was at 11.15 i went there by 10.15.

I joined the queue by 10.45. I was allowed inside the counslate only by 1.15.

Inside the counslate there was regular security checks.

After that there is a seperate queue for arranging our documents in a green folder.

But when i was waiting in the queue a VFS guy asked to go inside and he said the folders will be arranged there itself.

I went there and submitted my documents to the VFS guy who arranged my folders.

Then i waited for another 1 hour.

Due to some problem in the system in Chennai counslate the finger print scanning and Visa interview was done in the same counter for some people.

Here is how my interview went:

The VO was a lady. She is really cool

Me: Good Afternoon madam
VO: Good Afternoon. How are you doing today?
ME: Am good. How about you??
VO: Please put on your lelft index finger on the finger scanning screen.
I was very tensed here that i was shacking the finger scanning screen.
So the VO asked me to stay cool and asked to do finger screening again.
Now i was feeling bit better.I scanned the finger succesfully.
Then i scanned the right index finger too.
VO: Waht is your highest educational qualification
Me: Answered
VO: Please show me your certificates
Me: Gave all the certificated (Both UG and PG)
VO went in with the ceritificates and came back after 5 minutes and asked all my experience certificates.

I gave them all. She said please wait until we call.

I waited for almost 45 minutes to 1 hour. Then she called my name and asked

VO: Tell me about the project you are going to work... Briefly
Me: blah blah (here i told only two sentece, she said enough and you will get your passport in 3 working days)

Me: Can i collect my passport through rush service today.
VO: No
Me: Thank you and have a great day.

Guys from my observation
1. Stay cool
2. The VO's are really really cool. So stay relaxed and give appropriate answers to the questions.
3. Never try to fake. They really check the details
4. If you are working in a reputed MNC go with the tag and wear it.

All the best to all the US aspirants.

Cheers,
USAspirant

H1B & H4 SUCCESS - Delhi Consulate
Hi Everyone,
This site is wonderfull for all US visa applicants (Especially for H1B) and I had been following this web site from around last 6-8 months reading each and every post here on this site.

Well I won't waste too much of time and will come directly to the interview process which I had with Visa Officer (VO). But prior to that I will put my background.

My Education : B.E. (Pulp & Paper Technology) from one of the top most college followed by 6 months PGDCA.
My Work Experience : Total 3.8 yrs (First 2 yrs from 1 of the top most IT company in India followed by 3 months in very very small firm and presently in fortune 200 company)

We had the interview on 16th Nov at 13:30. And we reahed there by 12:45. We reported at gate and they allowed us to stand in queue at 12:45 itself. In queue VFS guys were checking the DS-156, DS-57, Interview letter, HDFC receipt, passport and I797 (for H1B candidate). If there is any discrepancy in DS-156 or in DS-157 form they will ask you to correct that with pen. Dont worry they will guide you for each and everything.

After the security check-in we were allowed insite the consulate. First we were asked to give the finger print/scan.

Immediatly after the finger print there was a VFS guy and gal who were giving numbers to all kind of visa applicant (Except for those who had come for hindi interview and BEP candidate). And there was a common queue for B1, L1 and H1B or H4 visas (Hindi interview and BEP candidate had separate queue). And every visa officer was handling each and every case.

My turn came at 16:30.

Me and my wife : Hello Officer, Good afternoon.
VO : hi, how are you?
Me : I am fine and how about you?
VO : I am doing good.

VO : So you are working for YYYY company?
Me : Yes sir
VO : Good (as if he was praising me for being in that company... ;-))
VO : How long you have been working in YYYY company?
Me : 2 years... Not exactly 2 yrs but its gonna to be 2 years in 3-4 months.
VO : Whats you education Background?
Me : Its Bachelor of Engineering from such and such college. (Since I did my BE in Pulp & Paper Technology, so I don't wanted to mentioned that, but if he would have asked about my specialization I would have told about my discipline. Mentioning non-IT could have cross fired some more question that how I am eligible to this position. So I didn't mention that I am non-IT guy and thank god he didn't ask me even)
VO : Whats your pay in YYYY company?
Me : Its xyz lakh per annum.
VO : Is it your new client?
Me : (Stunned!!! , I was wondering why he said is it a new client and showed him surprised behaviour that he is wrong.. but I didn't say anything)
VO : (Immediatly) Ohh... sorry its your new job. right?
Me : ya exactly.

VO to my wife : Mam do u work anywhere?
(At this moment I forgot that she is working... I dont know in which world I was. To his question I nodded that she is not working.. Where as my wife started replying.... Such a stupid conflict just just bcoz of me only)
My wife : Yes sir, I am working for such and such company.
VO to my wife : Whats your education background?
My Wife : Diploma in Electronics and Currently doing MCA.
VO to my wife : thats gr8. Do you have any plan to work in US?
My wife : No I wont be working there.

VO : Sir, have you ever been to US?
Me : No sir.
VO : Any other country?
Me : no sir.
VO to my wife : Mam have you been to US or to any other country?
My wife : No sir.
VO : its gr8 ... People first go to Singapore, UK, japan etc and then they move to US.. whereas you both are directly going to US

At this we both started laughing.

VO : Ok sir, your visa is approved and you will get it in 2-3 days.

Me and my wife could not believe that he has issued the visa. Not even a single document was asked.
And next day I collected my & my wife's passport from VFS having H1B for me and H4 for my wife.

I will say that keep the tension away from you and keep smiling ... I am sure everyone will get the visa.

If any one of you have question/doubt pls do not hesitate to get it clarified

And wish you all the best for your visa interviews.

I forgot to add that I had 2 petitions approved from company A and company B. But it didnt hamper my interview with visa officer and even he didn't asked about the same.
