Hi Sateesh
You have to understand very clearly about Inhouse project and client (location)not client project.
Inhouse project means you are going to work at employer place that also needs clients.
If you are going to work at client location then you should know which client you are going to work you should carry the client agreement.
If it is an inhouse project you should carry project details in detail.

Issued 221(g)
Hi All,

I attended for H1-B visa on 16'th November. The VO issued 221(g) right away. He did not ask much questions. He asked the below questions:
1) what is the purpose of this application?
2) what is you highest qualification?
3) Are going to work with the client or employer?
Here I was caught I replied that I am going to work for the employer and not for the client. Then VO said the information is not clear, ask your employer to send E-mail to the consulate all the points given in the 221(g) form.

Please let me know is any one got this kind of 221(g) form?

As per my experience getting VISA is not easy at Chennai consulate, that purely depends on VO mood and our luck. In fact VO did not ask for any documents from the employer like offer letter, tax papers etc. simply issued 221(g) form.

Inhouse project and Client Project.
Hi All,

What is the difference between Inhouse project and Client Project.

My employer told me i'll be working at Inhouse project. Does Inhouse project need client? In other words, is a client required for a Inhouse project?

What shld i say if they ask who is the client?

Thanks for your help

Successful H1 stamping in chennai consulate
This site was of great help to me. It helped me prepare for embassy interview with great confidence. Now, I feel it is my duty to help other people.

They mainly asked me about my degree certificate and experience certificates.
They asked me about my current company and previous company details. Also, they asked
about some of the projects done at each company. I had to give details about the projects.

Then they asked about the project that is going to be done in new company. I just told them that it is going to be an inhouse project.

To summarize, the candidate should be aware of what he is filled up in the application forms. Also, he should be aware of the information in the certificates that he has submitted to the consulate.

Issued 221g (Chennai) even though I had most of documents
Hi Guys

I was issued 221g in Chennai recently even though I had most of the doccments.
The basic mistake i did was i didnt know the main HR manager for my product group. So please take care of knowing all the present managers of your working company. They might ask that. As I couldnt answer that question properly a doubt started in her mind and even though i showed project docs and all she finally issued the 221g. Also it was too late when I reached there - about 7 in the evening (my appointment was at 2:30). By that time her moood was off too. So try to be smiling and giving prompt answers. That could help.

All the best guys
Rahul

Successful H1B stamping @ Chennai on 14th Nov
Thanks to all those who had posted their experiences. This site helped me a lot.

Though my interview lasted less than 3 minutes, it took almost an hour for getting the Green Folder & Finger print scanning. I was almost sapped out of my energy.

Questions asked by VO.

1) What is this company zzz(my petitioner) into?
2) How long have you been working with yyy(present employer)?
3) Will you be working in the client's place?
No, I'll be working in an inhouse project @ our head office at AAA city BBB state
4) What's your highest educational degree?

That's it. Nothing more. She did not ask any documents to verify.

If your petitioner has good reputation, then u need not have to worry.
Wear a smile always & be confident.

Thanks,
Roshan Nirmal

Successful stamping H1 Chennai accounting job
Hi Guys,
This is an amazing site and I wish to contribute my experience for whatever utility is it.

My interview was at 7.45 and I was at the venue by 7 a.m,there was a long queue and it took about 45 minutes more for the queue to move me till the gate.

Procedure 1: Basic security check
Produce your passport and interview confirmation letter (vfs)
Procedure 2: Inside the gate all bags, pockets, and the papers are checked
Note : Do not carry any floppy or disc or pendrives, Cell phones not allowed, Sealed envelopes not allowed (If your employer sends the financial records/ tax returns/payroll returns in sealed envelope directly addressed to consulate you HAVE to open the cover for security check here, dont worry confidentiality is not affected)

Procedure 3: Provide the following documents at the next counter, these papers would be filed in green folder and later given back to you

a) Passport
b) HDFC receipt
c) Form I 29
d) Form I 797 (Notice of action)

Procedure 4: You will be directed to stand in the queue for thumb impression, it is natural to get confused with left and right hands dont feel discouraged if it happens. Index finger is second finger (Generally used for wearing bindhi by women)

Procedure 5: You will be directed to the main queue, stand and wait patiently, please compose your thoughts and maintain a casual attitude - In any case dont panic from rejections happening for previous candidates in the queue, learn from their mistake (its a good oppurtunity) and try not to repeat - think of some good joke and try to free yourself of the tension. This is what would ensure you speak what you know in clear manner so that even if you dont have proper papers your case will be considered- its only matters how you speak and not not how many documents you have - they have no time to verify any papers

My Case

Me: Hi, Good morning, how are you doing? (with a smile)
VO: Hi, show me you degree certificates and mark sheet
Me: Gave them (remember dont panic take your time to remove them from folder and make sure your carry bag does not create annoying noice)
VO: Where are you going to work at?
Me: Told him the place and company name
VO: Accountant?
Me: Yes, I am a finance professional
VO: So you have come here in Jan 06 for B1?
Me: Yes, (with a sorry face)told him the name of the company and the fact that it got rejected
VO: You have any photographs of your prospective company?
Me: Showed him three photographs( Two interior and one exterior with name board)
VO: Ok your visa is approved you will get your passport soon
Me: Thanks a lot Bye

They are issuing visas easily these days just a few cations
1) Answer only for the question asked even if you feel inadequate its ok
2) Carry all your documents

a) HDFC Reciept / Passport / Forms I-797/ I-29/DS 156 (WITH PASSPORT SIZE PHOTO AND SIGNATURE),DS157 (DS forms to be printed in LASER PRINTER ONLY - I got to know when the checking officer instructed a candidate)
b) Offer letter / Petitioner letter / Petition copy
c) Previous employment records - Tie up dates and roles with resume
d) Photos of your U.S employer workplace
e) Tax returns / Payroll returns of U.S Employer
f) Educational evaluation (better if available)
g) All marksheets and certificates - Degree or professional exam
h) Telephone numbers of you managers or senior officials(Current employment)
i) Original pay slips and offer letters / releiving letters - previous employment
j) Tax returns of self
k) Communication with US Employer - email copies
l) Additional sets of photos (just in case)

m) NO VISA FEE NEEDED

- These documents may not be verified but dont take chances and get discouraged when you find its asked for another candidate
3) Utmost important - Be calm and be yourself - Wear a dress that gives you lot of confidence - be with the attitude that even if you dont get ts not a big deal, this would ensure that you answer without tension and without mistakes. Its only small mistakes often repeated by many candidates that makes VO annoyed. So please avoid making common mistakes
4) Look straight at the VO's eyes and speak - Dont fear

Commonly asked questions (as heard on the floor)

1)Where r u going to work in U.S?
2)What does the company do/deal with?
3)Whats your specific role?
4)Why do you want to got to U.S?
5)Whats your past experience?

Approach with full confidence - Chennai consulate is not refusing on pecuniary grounds they are in good moods this season, so grab the oppurtunity

GOOD LUCK ALL YOU FELLAS I WISH NOONE FAILS IN THIS RACE, YET THERE'S NO CHARM IF THERE'S NO COMPETITION, AND YOU WILL RELISH MORE THE JOY OF WINNING ONLY WHEN YOU STRUGGLE FOR IT
My wishes to God that ALL of you succeed

Warm regards,
Prasanna
