H1B Interview
My interview was at Chennai. Timing given was 1415 hrs. I managed to get in around 1435 hrs.
After the initial screening of papers (which required standing in a queue ), I was guided to the Visa room. There, I was asked to stand in a queue for my turn.

My interview went as below:

VO - Good Afternoon, Sir.
Me - Good Afternoon.

VO - May I see your papers please ?
Me - Sure.

Hand over papers...

VO - Who is the client ?
Me - YYYY

VO - May I see your degree cerificate please ?
Me - Sure .

Hand over certificate...

VO - Quite a big one.... instrumentation engineering.....
Me - Yes.

VO - Is your wife travelling with you ?
Me - Not right now... she'll be joining me later.

VO - That's all , Sir. Please join the queue at the last counter and pay the amount.
Me - Thank You. Have a nice day.

It was over in less than 2 minutes. The guys at the consulate seem pretty reasonable, though they are strict about their rules.

All the best.

I got 221g asking for client letter and company's tax returns.
The VO checked the box "come again".
Why is it that i have to go again :)
Should I ask them if it is OK to drop the papers requested?

My H1B interview on 23 Sep
For me it was at 12 noon, i was thr arnd 10:00 AM,
I could get in only by 12:00 . The security will ask u alot questions, do you have mobile, electronic stuffs, sealed envelops etc..

Dont bring any stuffs like mobile, electonic stuffs, (auto lock car keys) , plastic covers etc.
they will ask u to keep it outside. outside means roadside :)

Inside the room ur documents will be verified. And ur both index finger prints will be taken.
All the VOs are cool and cooperative, their accent is also easy to pick. (for me)

The interview lasted for only less than 2 minutes, she was asking questions very swiftly, no allowing me to think or even take a breathe :)

It was like this

ME: Good afternoon Mam

VO: Good afternoon, how are u doing?

ME: Fine, How about you?

VO: Fine

VO: How long u have been working with the company?

ME: For the past three years I was with ZZZ

VO: Were u been working for the same client?

ME: Yes, correct

VO: Why do u want to go US?
ME: We have got a client called xxxxx and I am going us to support their production

VO: What do you mean by supporting production?

ME: YYYY XX has got an online reservation system which is in mainframe. If anything happens to it I need to fix it

VO: Okay ,ur visa is approved go and pay the fees

ME: Thank you Mam

VO: Thank you (I forgot to tell “Have a nice weekend” even though I have thought of that :( )

It was 3:00 PM :(

If your documents are okay, there is nothing much to worry about. It is just a cake walk.

Always be confident, have a smile on your face, dont get bothered by whatever is happening to others or dont let u down by others stupid questions and doubts.

If possible have some mocks infront of mirror, wishing the VO, how to smile, how would you respond to some FAQ's etc will help.

All the best!!! Dont forget to have good breakfast if ur timing is pretty odd coz Chennai is HOT
