Successful H1B Stamping in Chennai
Hi all,

I had my appointment on 20th Sep 2006 at 2.00 pm in Chennai. I reached the consulate at 1.00 pm and joined the queue. Unusually very few people were present at the venue.

Before entering the premises, the Security personnel verified the Passport and the appointment letter. After that there were 2 security checks where they checked me and the things I carried. Electronic gadgets and Sealed Envelopes are not allowed inside. Then we are allowed.

Then I was allowed inside the building where there were 4-5 counters for verifying our documents. They basically arrange the documents for us. I was representing a BEP Company. The BEP applicants will be given a BEP file which contains all the documents arranged in order by the sponsoring company. I was asked to submit the entire file. For Non - BEP applicants, the procedure is little different. The Verifying officer(all Indians) verified my file and kept it with her. She asked me to go to the next building and said someone will handover the file to me.

I moved on to the other building where the actual interview takes place. There was a queue to enter the building. People are allowed inside based on the appointment timings. After waiting for a while, I was allowed inside the building. I was asked to join a queue where the finger scanning takes place. I was asked to join a queue which was exclusively for the BEP applicants. Two of the applicants who had before me were sent back asking for some docs. There were 2 other applicants who came for their H4 and were granted Visa immediately without any hassles.

Then came my turn.

Me: Good Afternoon mam
VO: Good Afternoon. How are you?
Me: Good. How are you?
VO: Good. Can I have your File please?
Me: Yeah Sure.(Handed it over to her)
VO: How long you are working in ZZZ?
Me: So Many years.
VO: What kind of Project you are working on?
Me: .....
VO: How long you are working on this project?
Me: ...
VO: Your Visa is approved.
Me: ThankYou.

The interview lasted for just a minute. I was very happy to hear the words. My Company is well-known in the US. That could be the reason for me getting Visa very easily. It looked like the VO decided to grant me visa even before my turn came. So luck factor is also very important.

Guys, For Preparation going thru the experiences will do. Just pray God and attend the interview with confidence.

Succesfull B! Visa
Hi,

I'm giving my Visa Interview experience:

FIrst Step: I stood outside on the pavement close to the entrance gate. There was large que.My Passport and the forms (156 and 157) and the challan (yellow form), web appointment letter are checked. I was then allowed to enter the Consulate building. I was asked whether i'm carrying any mobile phone. (I kept my mobile phone at the hotel room)

Second Step: Just inside there is another security check where all the file/cover (whatever i was carrying) was checked.

Third Step: I entered inside the Consulate Building. One person asked me about my appointment time and based on that showed me to go to a particular counter. At that counter, my passport and the 156,157 forms are checked and then i was given a file containing a paper along with the checked things.

Fourth Step: I went into another building where (once again i told my appointment time) and then (standing in a que) my left and right index fingerprints were taken.

Fifth Step: Interview with Consular officer. I wished the officer "Good morning with a smile". I was asked the following questions as mentioned below:

1. How long were you (working) with this company.
2. Prior to Unisys, where were you working and for how long?
3. What is your total experience
4. What are you going to do in US?
5. How long you intend to stay in US?
6. Are you married?
7. What is per month salary? (She mentioned "Please dont mind if i ask this question")
8. Do you own a house or home?
9. Where do your parents stay?

At the end of the above questions (and replies i had given) she told to pay the Visa fees in WIndow # 1. I was told that my Passport will be couriered in 3 days.

Sixth Step: Again i stood in the que and paid the DD and took the reciept. I was told that my Passport will be couriered in 3 days

That's the end of my Visa Interview.

Thank you,
Patelkhana....

VO: Which company your husband works for?
ME: such and such company
VO: very good
VO: Is it an arranged marriage?
ME: Actually, its lil bit of both. Told him that we met thru internet and our parents met etc (very brief)
VO: Can I see your wedding pictures and your original marriage certicate?
ME: sure ( provided him the same)
VO: So you got registered on the wedding day.
ME: yes, the same day before noon.
VO: thats good.
ME: ( gave him the small album of 20 pictures I had carried). he put me on mute and shared my pictures with another collegue of him in the next counter..(casually, enquired abt my family etc)
VO: and can I have your tax forms.
ME: I have only for last 2 years...
VO: (before I complete)oh thats ok !(He quickly flip thru the sheets)
VO: Please go and pay the DD in the counter 1 and Have a good stay(with the big smile)
ME: thank you, have a good evening.

The interview went on for about 10 mins.but the waiting, pre screening and stuff took me almost 3 hours. I feel, its good to go half hour early before the scheduled time or else you would be waiting in the blazing hot sun outside the office.

The whole process was very easy and smooth but please dont forget to carry all your documents, All OF THEM mentioned !!

PS: And also dont forget to carry a waterbottle and loads of sunscreen lotion :)

Good Luck !!
