H1B, H4 Visa

i had my interview at 3:45 and it got delayed by 2 hours and went in at 5:45. done with the initial verification of documents.

went into the queue, these people are indians, where they will arrange the docs in an order, she took my form 156 and 157 and oter docs and gave back some other docs. i took the rest of the docs and went to the big hall where the interviews are.
Row no: 13(i guess) is the finger print scanning. the lady sounded great and plesent.
by the time i had to stand for my interview it was 6:30.
my turn came around 7:00.

the previous guy infront of me left the VO office,
VO asked me to come, i went and ket all my docs aside & Stood Straight trying to be confident.
All my documents were arranged. ( guyz dont cummit any petty mistakes)
VO: give me the folder
ME:I got a red leef & i was holding it along with the folder, and i was taking the red sheet from the folder.
VO: give me the folder.
ME: gave him the folder.(he looked at the visa petition, probably looked at sme thing in my paper and took a minute in looking at his system.
VO: give me the red leef.
ME: gave him the red leef.
VO: what are you working on
ME: its XYZ sorry its ABC
VO: what the name of the project.
ME: i was a little tensed and couldnt give the project name properly. however said the short form of it.
VO: do you have the Project Detals:
ME: not even a second, gave him the project details
VO: Do you have the photos
ME: i asked "the company i work here or ...."
VO: the company in US.
Me: same gave the pics in a second, he took a while and looked at the pics.
VO: give me your Degree certificate.
ME: i gave me MCA certificate, he took few seconds and looked at the certificate.
He gave all the documentation back. tried to tare the redleef and give a piece of it, waited a second
VO: Give me the DD.
ME: i gave him the DD.
VO: you got the Visa and you will receive it in courier.

guyz dont lean in front of the VO, try to be professional and be very attentive, dont give him a chance to repeat things, try to speak clearly.
Be prepared for the interview, be confident, i got my mind set thinking no prob if i dont get the Visa too, that should help you guyz.

I had my interview , last week, which was schedules at 10.00 AM. I have reached there at 9.30 AM.
The security people verified my appointment letter & passport and allowed me inside.

Next, i stood in a queue and gave all my certificates & forms at that counter. A lady is there in the counter, she arranged all the documents i a folder and give me a token and asked me to go to another building.
I gone there and waited for about 10 min. After that a lady called me and handed over my folder to me & asked to wait in a que.
After 15 min VO called me.
Me : Good Morning Sir,
VO : Very Good morning.
VO : Why u r travelling to US
me : To work on a project
VO : For what company u r working for ?
me : ZZZ
VO : How long u have been working for ?
me : ZZZ
VO : What's ur Qualification ?
me : ZZZ
VO : What languages u know ?
me : silent. ( I cm confused whether he is asking general commmunication languages or computer languages)
VO : Computer langusges
me : C,C++, Java
VO : On which language u r going to work for ?
me : Not known.
VO : Not known ?
me : Our company having openings in more there one project . Once i gone there they will select me in one of the projects.
VO : referring my evaluation report.. what is OOPS ?
me : Object Oriented Programing ....
VO : Can i see ur Degree certificate ?
me : given
VO : Is this genuine or some thing which u have printed over ????????
me : genuine
VO is he is not satisfied with my answer & certificate. I showed my consolidated marks sheet & Yearwise marks sheets also. VO gone inside with my certificate for verification and came back after 5 min .
VO : please wait i will call u.
after 20 min...
VO : called me with my surname.
me : yes ,Sir
VO : We have verified ur certificates, They are genunne.
me : Thanks
VO : Go to counter No 1 pay the fees. U will receive ur passport through couries.

very easy dont worry tooomuch be cool dont throw all teh docs to VO ,give the relavent docs he asked.the same i approached with the help of Immihelp site and FAQS

I got visa but now
*i want to apply H4 to my wife.as she is pregnant now,is it better to apply seperately to my wife and separate to my baby?or together at a time in december2006?
**if applied seperatley to my baby how will be the interview??who can take the baby to EMbassy??

My 3 time interview was in the last week. I went chennai consulate at 9:45. I submited my all DS forms at pre-scanned counter. They asked me about my I-797 and I-129 forms. But i said those docs with VO has taken in the last interview.(VO collected my docs in the 2nd time intrv and said at 3rd time is the last time, If you dont bring all these docs, i will cancel your petition).

Then she said go and sitdown, we will call you back.After waiting 2 hrs. around 12:20PM. They called me to direct counter(VO is the same, when i had 2nd time). He is ready with my all docs like I-797 and I-129..stuff.

VO: Did you get docs this time?
me: Yes, sir. ( Asked me client site photos, client side letter, Itinanery dates)

VO: Read my petition covering letter.(with smile.. Actually I dont have client site photos, explained my employer in the cover letter.. for that he gave smile)

VO: This time he is reading my Client letter.
and Asked me ...
Is this manager is direct employee for ZZZ?
me:Yes. sir

VO: Something checked in his system.
After one 2 mins.... He has given to me all my docs like I-797 and I-129 and my employer stuff.

VO: Said go and pay fee at counter no 1

Next day my wife also attended interview for H4 visa without my passport(becoz my passport already with Chennai Consualte itself)

She also got H4 visa.

Thanks to Immihelp site and also for the people who have shared their experience. My interview was last week in Chennai US consulate.

My Interview was scheduled at 9.30am. We have reached the consulate office by 9.00 am. The security guards at the entrance gate have checked the our passports and appointment letters and allowed us inside.

There was a security check inside the entrance. They have frisked all folders, covers, handbags that we are carrying. After that they allowed us inside a hall and asked to join a queue. As we went with a kid they have given importance and asked us to stand first in the queue rather than join the queue in the last.

They have taken appointment letter, passport, DS156,DS157, H1 Petition papers, HDFC bank Payment Slips(as we have booked appointment thru VFS) for H1B applicant, appointment letter, passport, DS156, Original Marriage Certificate, Original Child Birth Certificate for H4 applicants. They will stick the HDFC bank slips one on the back of passport and other on the DS156 & they scan our photo on DS156. They have arranged these docs in separate folders and given back to us.(in some cases a coupon is given and asked to proceed to next building and then they announce the coupon no and hand over the docs),but in our case the folder is given to us immediately.

Then we were asked to proceed to next building (where the final action takes place). We are asked to join a queue(again first in the queue becz of kid) for finger printing. For kids there is no finger printing. After this we were asked to join a queue for final interview.

The visa officer is a lady. Here is the conversation that took place.

VO: Good Morning.
Self: Good Morning.
VO: Why do you want to go US ?
Self: US IT market is the largest in the world, so are the opportunities and rewards.
(generally we can say for better opportunities, challenges and rewards)
VO: Why do you want to leave Present Employer ?
note:(My present employer is one of the TOP 3 Indian companies).
Self: The US company has offered me a challenging role, technology and also a good pay package.
VO: Have u left the Present Employer already ?
Self: No, I will be leaving shortly.
VO: What was the purpose of your previous visit to US?
Self:(I went to US earlier on B1 visa). That trip was for knowledge acquisition of the customer’s product.
VO:What are going to do in US ?
Self: I will be working for this company itself.
VO: On what project you will be working ?
Self: I will be working on a product called ....blah..blah...
VO: Could you describe about that product...
Self: I explained about that product.
VO: How qualified are u to work on that product ?
Self: Explained the my previous experience in that technology.
VO: What was u r Master’s Degree ?
Self: MBA with IT Specialization.
VO: Can I see the your degree cert(both Bachelor’s&Masters) ?
Self: Yes, I have given both the Degree cert and mark sheets.
VO: Please wait for some time we will call you back.
Waited for some time..I thought it would only take half-an-hour or an hour..but
i have waited for 2.5 hours...It took me only 20 minutes to reach the final interview queue but that gain in time is lost here..

Another VO called my token no after a long waiting...
VO: How long are u working with Present Employer ?
Self: 5.5 years.
VO: Tell me about the current project that u r doing.
Self: I have explained about my current project.
VO: Tell me the project u will be working in US?
Self: I explained about the product that i will be working.
VO: who are the customers for this product ?
Self: It s a new product.and it is in the design phase.
VO: can i see any doc on this?
Self: I have shown the Design Doc of that product.
VO has noted some details by looking into that doc. and FINALLY SAID....
SIR U R VISA HAS BEEN APPROVED, PAY THE FEES IN COUNTER 1 AND U WILL RECEIVE UR PASSPORT IN COUPLE OF DAYS....
I felt very relaxed and HAPPY...

Some observations in my interview:
They have not asked a single question to my Wife.
They have not asked for any of my experience certificates or offer letters.
They have asked the US company offer letter or a letter from project manager of US company.
They have not asked my US company photographs or any other details about that company.
They have not asked for current payslips or bank stmts.

But this doesn’t mean we need not carry these docs. It is better to carry all the docs.
Be confident about u r self and success will be yours. Best of Luck to all the aspirants.

I would like to share my experience. I had attended H1B visa interview in Jan and was issued 221(g), asking for following:

1. A signed letter from the beneficiary's prospective supervisor at the end client location to which he/she will be assigned, stating the client's intention to make use of the beneficiary's services and
explaining the nature and duration of the project to which he/she will be assigned.
D A detailed and specific description of the internal development project to which the beneficiary will
be assigned. Include a complete technical description of the project, timeline, current status,
number of employees assigned to it, location of the worksite, and a marketing analysis for the final
product.
2. A complete itinerary of services or engagements specifying the dates of each service or
engagement, the names and addresses of agent, the names and addresses of the actual employers,
and the names and addresses of the establishment, venues, or locations where the services will be
performed.

I got a letter from client, which stated their need for requiring good no. of resources from my employer for their
oracle based ERP application project.

For item 2 :My employer just wrote a letter saying that we wish to utilize beneficiary for entire length of H1B, and can't exactly provide the dates of engagement and services.The petitioner confirms that beneficiary shall remain the employer at all times and shall be paying the applicant’s salary in terms of the LCA filed along with the petition.

In feb, i attended with these docs, and was issued visa. Consular didn't bother to look at item 2. he was happy reading letter from client.

my interview was on 10th of feburuary.
the interview went on just for 5 minutes.
The question asked were:
Which university did u graduate?
have you been to america?
present occupation?
how did you find the us company?
company's job function?

and to my wife:
our marriage date.

That it. nothing else.

be confident, don't lean, stand straight, formal dressing, looking into the visa officer eyes while answering, speak truth and success is your's. nothing to worry at all. The best thing is keep on reading the documents giving by your petitioner. Have all the information ready becuase they will be asking from what you have provided them.

I request some body who has good knowledge can post the steps to do after 221g. like what documents need to be taken for the next appointment or for drop box along with the documents ticked in 221g. What to fill in DS-156 for some fields.
